  1. The Toronto Maple Leafs use to be the laughing stock of the division, in fact, I recall being told before the start of the season, they would be lucky to win a few games. People thought so highly of the GM who brought the team together, that they fired him and he works as a scout out west. We should be so lucky. Even to a long time fan, I rooted for the Buffalo Bisons and not the baseball team either, then the Sabres, in fact it is my dream that the Commisioner makes Brett Hull stand with one foot in the crease, as he presents the Stanley Cup to Buffalo and carried on NBC interrupting their prime time shows. Never going to happen with Darcy there. Vanek has scored 20 goals this year and is good, but notice one thing, when he is in the line up, everybody goes to him and scoring drops off, take him out and several players score. Miller, face it, he wants to be out west with his wife and who can blame him. He has given many a stellar performance for Buffalo. He has one year left, we trade and get something or he finishes and walks, while Buffalo gets nothing. We fans think of it as a sport, owners a business and the players as a source of income. The fans pay their money but get very little say.
  2. Question, Fast forward to next training camp. Meyers can't beat out the other guys, because you pick it. What happens then?
  3. Does any one have the win, loss record of the Sabres since they started the Blue and Gold equals Green commercials?
  4. And now for a different comedy point of view. For this season has to be looked at as a comedy of errors. So with that in mind; let me raise my glass and suggest as coach, Don Cherry! Admit it, it would be entertaining and all non Canadian and American skaters would be gone. As for GM, bring Sabretooth, he would as good a job. What does it say when out of all the deals and contracts, we have OTT and the three guys who played together in Rochester. The only Tyler playing is Ennis, Meyers shows one step forward and two back. Mr. P says everybody is tradable but with our luck, we will only trade the ones playing. Always next season, same cast, same results.
  5. First, let me say I am not a Meyers fan, but it is because he doesn't play to what he can play to. There can only be two reasons, one; everybody was wrong about his ability and that first year was a fluke. or two; He isn't being coached correctly. Based on our total inability back there defense wise, I would go with coaching. So now is he too ruined or is there someone who could straighten him out? Some one like Jim Schoenfeld, but I don't know if he is even available or interested, but I bet the defense would shape up under him or be so darn tired they couldn't play. But if we can't find a coach for him, then lets get something for him that is decent.
  6. You don't need a cheap hit on Richards, just let him come in with the puck and have Meyers hit him head on, oh, sorry, I was off in fantasy land again. 60 minute game 50 played in the Sabres end.
  7. We fired the coach and things haven't really changed, why,IMO, because the same offensive[non-existant] and defensive coaches are still there. Every team playing Buffalo uses the same pattern, get the puck in the Buffalo end get them running around and when Buffalo comes out, they get over the red line, shoot it in and go off on a line change. The other team brings it right back down again. No offense or when they do, they can't shoot, either they miss the net or try fancy passes. In the good old days, you had a man by the name of Danny Gare, who after practice would spend time shooting the puck at the net from all over the ice, the point being, it became second nature, when he shot it was headed for the net. We need someone like him as offensive coach to teach these guys something. Defense, ha, I keep hoping a small guy like Gerbe will beat up on Meyers, the guy is a pushover, players know he never challenges them and when they deke him, he usually gets a penalty. Any body who has watched Mike R. on TV when he is using the illustrator can see where the Sabres are falling apart. Solution: Trade quite a few players for draft choices or if lucky a veteran, but clean house. But first change the coaching staff.
