  1. Great read on a statistically dominate team that is vastly underperforming.

    1st in CORSI

    1st in FENWICK

    2nd in PK

    2nd in SOG/game

1st in Shot Differential DOMINATING it by 3.1 shots. (an interesting stat:https://www.sportingcharts.com/articles/nhl/shooting-differential-the-statistic-of-stanley-cup-winners.aspx

  2. is it the coaches fault when you lose 13 games by one goal? when the goalies let up a soft goal in a tight game or when a winger cranks it off the post in one of those games? or when our guys suck ass at SOs and we lose another point again. because that's a lot of points left on the table right there from lost opportunities. give us half of those points from the 1-goal losses, and we're 2nd in the Atlantic. i can't put it all on DD.

  3. I say we stopped tanking at the right point.

We had (15) 1-goal games/shutouts this year so far! That's horrendous. But, as the season has progressed, they've started to correct course a bit. No 1-goal/shutout games in Jan with a 4-3-1 record for the month. It's a small improvement, but a step in the right direction. I think growth from the young guys, a few more defensive pieces in place, and a more player friendly coaching scheme will provide a huge boost. Just not this year.

I didn't expect to go from tank to contender is one season. That's unrealistic. It's undeniable that they are entertaining this year. That they can hang with good teams. That they are experiencing growing pains. That they need to learn to play three periods and close games out. That they are hungry to win now.

I'll take that mixed bag as a step in the process, not in regret that we don't have one or two more descent prospects that may or may not pan out down the road. Eventually you have to go with the guys you've got and move forward.

  4. If he's coming off an injury I bet they give him the easier game which is us

i mean what is an 'easier' game? he still has to move like a goalie no matter who he plays. it's not like we shoot 45 mile an hour pucks directly into his glove from the blue line for 60 minutes. what i'm saying is that he's going to have to do more than a bubble hockey goalie.

  5. these are all pretty straight forward, but it's the internet so someone is bound to disagree.

-if you break your stick during play, the bench should be allowed to heave a stick onto the ice for you. each team designates one stick-heaver before the game. if said player is on the ice, it has to be the back-up goalie.

-hitting the crossbar should count as a 1/2 a goal.

-the puck is an outdated shape and size. should be star-shaped with a ball bearing in the middle like the game crossfire.

-eliminate zambonis. don't resurface the ice the entire game. play it as it lies.

-each team gets to dress one player in the opponent's uniform as a double agent. he must sit on your bench though.

-every rink contains one pane of actual glass, to be randomized before the start of the game.

-if two guys receive fighting majors, they have to sit in the same penalty box.
