  1. Threads seem to grow faster than I can keep up with. I'll start reading through some posts and sometimes I'll want to chime in on something, but then I realize it was posted a week ago and there's already 10 more pages of posts. Replying would be completely off topic by that point and it would just get ignored.

I'll just stick to yelling GOAL! in game day threads.

I'm generally just more interested in everyone else's opinions, I don't feel I have much to add. This isn't the only place I lurk.

  2. Get rid of icing and offsides and goto an indoor soccer 3 line rule (can't pass across 3 lines). It would open up the ice more. Players could get behind the defense for a "long ball" strategy.

Realistically I'd say reduce the goalie pads, especially chest/shoulder. They look obese with the pads on. Without them they're skinny as a twig. Most of the pads are protecting air.

  3. I went to Duff's for the first time when I was in Buffalo last year, and the wings were delicious.

Also, I'm curious, is Fried Bologna a thing outside of Buffalo? I've never seen it anywhere else.

  4. haha, well, I played my first rec league game last night, and fortunately didn't get my helmet stuck to anyone's.

I had a blast, it was a pretty close game, some of my friends came out to watch me (one was a former employee of the ice rink and wanted to see his old buddies). I notched an assist late in the third period that tied the game 1 - 1, but shortly after my shift we gave up another goal (about 2 minutes left). I think my new team liked what I was doing out there as they threw me out as the 6th attacker when we pulled the goalie. We came close to tying the game up again, but the other team got the puck out of the zone and scored an empty netter with a few seconds left.

    I'm excited for next week.

  5. The problem is that blades are a lot harder now in order to hold an edge, but that also makes them more brittle. Plus on the Bauers they're using "Fusion Steel" which is aluminum bonded to steel to make the blade lighter. I don't know what that does to the durability but I can't imagine it's better than just a solid piece of stainless. The new Tuuk's Bauer is putting on all their skates is a brilliant system. There can be defects, like anything, but overall it works very well. That trigger is super convenient.

Yeah, my Bauers have a quick release trigger thing on them to take the blades off, maybe that has something to do with it.

  6. There it is (I may have missed earlier ones). I've been waiting for someone to bring up "we had the best chance" when the field has by far the best chance.

Right, but "the field" can't win, an individual team wins and every team is outnumbered by the field. Out of all those teams, the sabres had the best odds.
