I don't buy for a minute that the technology to do it is still in the aspirational stage. We have autonomous driving cars, and jets that can land and take off by themselves. We have automated manufacturing systems that can detect part flaws naked to the human eye and choose what bins to move those parts to. This isn't about technology development, it is about creating the software to interact with technology that already exists. It may be aspirational in that the league doesn't want to commit the dollars needed to design and fully debug the system yet, but it sure isn't aspirastional based on technology.
Good point, I forgot the technology for tracking the position of the puck was created a long time ago, remember those blue/red puck streaks... https://www.ece.cmu.edu/~ece848d/lectures/03_some_sports_technologies.pdf

I'm sure there's all kinds of technical difficulties to get something like this working with perfect accuracy. It's not exactly an easy problem to solve. It's one of those things that sounds simple to achieve on paper. Sure just put a chip in it to detect when the puck is completely over the line.
Honestly, I'd be surprised if they're anywhere close to the accuracy of someone just looking at multiple camera angles.

Several of the rinks by me do adult hockey clinics, I did some of them when I was first learning, there was lots of beginners. Those were good because there was a coach that would have us do drills and teach us stuff. You could see if any rinks in your area do this.
After that I joined a beginner league at one of the rinks, they keep it so its mostly people that are very new to hockey, and there's just 2 teams. This is in San Diego, where most people don't grow up skating, so it might be more beginner friendly here.

I voted other, when I goto AHL games here, there's a canadian place in the arena that sells really good Poutine.

I gotta vote for Legwand's perfectly placed shot from the slot.

Maybe the name is a throw back to the California Golden Seals

It was a 4 on 1, that's not on Lehner

How is that not a clear cut 5 and a game??
They must've changed the rules this season? I remember kaleta getting suspended for less than that...

Why did we get an extra penalty for Boston's 3rd man in?

John Scott has always been appreciated except for by Mike Millbury whose an idiot anyway.
I wish they'd replace Milbury with John Scott, that would make broadcasts so much better.

Shite ! thanks :(
Blackouts suck in a rink that sells out every friggin game. Makes no sense to deny your fans the chance to watch a game.
Wouldn't it just be on some local TV channel?

Mine is just Foligno bowling.

I'm curious, how did you look that up? Did you just brute force it or is there some database where you can select a starting date?
The NHL website stats section lets you do start/end dates if you view statistics by GAME.

Wow! That was awesome.

What was that horse ######?? Unbelievably late shot
Somebody better go after Hamilton next period, that was absurd
We'll have to wait for him to get out of the penalty box.

No stinking stripes on the Man City jersey!!
Haha, you mean Team Chevrolet? I'm gonna hate it when they start plastering the jerseys with ads in the US.
-
Nobody from Mexico made it on Team North America?
-
Wayyyyy offsides. Do they have a camera angle though?
I would think they could sync all the camera feeds.
-
It's on NHLtv/gamecenter. Which is nice, because this hotel lacks NHL Network
Yep NHLtv feed is working for me.

I was at the 07-08 game at LA that we lost 8-2

This is just an outrageous claim. Have you seen pro level gear? There's no way to maintain protection. De-bulking will inherently reduce it. Take the pro version of what I wear. http://www.goaliemonkey.com/warrior-chest-protector-ritual-g2-pro.html?gclid=CLTIxN_-k8sCFQUIaQodWv0PRQ
These guys aren't wearing giant plastic elbow protectors for fun. This stuff is bulky because it is serving a purpose.
Hmmm, well those shoulders don't look nearly as bad as the ones in that video on the twitter that was posted earlier. The elbows are pretty massive, they're a lot more square compared to the non-Pro version.
Whatever, make the goals bigger.

The height of my hypocrisy will be revealed when I confess that I hate wearing big goalie equipment. I wear leg pads with only a 1" riser, player pants instead of goalie pants, and my chest arms are Warrior G2's which were the least bulky ones I could find. I don't like being a bulky goalie but at the same time I recognize that I'm not really wearing anything close to what I would want to wear if I was facing pro level shooters. No NHL goalie would wear what I wear. They'd be crazy to. Which is why I find the calls to have guys look like Billy Smith so crazy. If Billy Smith played the game now he'd call it crazy too.
Well, I'm pretty sure if they switched to less bulky gear, it would be just as protective as it is now. They're not going to be wearing what you're wearing, they'd be wearing top of the line gear designed to protect against NHL caliber shots. Just removing all of the puck blocking (non-protective) bulk is what people are talking about.

Is anyone actually going to watch this? Be honest.
Well, I am, I'm going to the game with my dad. Excited to finally see Eichel and Reinhart in person.

Haha wow, don't see a goal from your own zone very often, that was ridiculous
