Can't listen to press conference. What are the highlights?
-
Bennet is not a rental - he is an RFA. Also he didn't limit the Flames to a single team to be traded to. Plus he is seen as a good playoff performer.

"McKenzie on Hall trade: 'There was nobody out there prepared to give a first round pick'"
And Hall was keen to go to Boston once he found out they were interested

I heard this earlier on the instigators earlier, but can't find any link to the quotes. Peters claimed Lazar was quoted after the trade..."this team found creative ways to lose" & "I can't wait to stick it to them".
Weird thing to say when you are part of the team that creatively lost...

Kypreos also said he heard the offer from the Bruins for Hall was a third round pick until they lost big to Washington.

Jonas Johansson is 3-0-1 with a 1.87 GAA and .929% with Colorado. Did Ralph somehow ruin him too?
And yet Colorado traded for a goalie to make JJ third string.

My disappointment with this trade is that Lazar is straight up better than a joke. In points. In energy. In skill set for a bottom six forward. In contract. And is only a year older
That means we got less than a second for Hall.
I understand Adams didn’t turn down better offers, but when Foligno gets a first and fourth, and we get a second for a historically better player who is historically under achieving this year and still statistically better than Foligno - that’s disappointing.
And for people decrying people complaining about the anger that a JAG fourth liner was traded - poor asset management is why we are we’re we are. And if you poorly manage part of your roster, you poorly manage it all.

That seems like a low-rent rumormonger site. I will be shocked if they get 2 firsts for Hall.
If you're taking on nearly $6 million for over 2 years you get at least a first

I still believe he ends up as Senior Advisor to Adams and is helping him from afar for the trade deadline.
They are probably waiting for His Contract to expire to make it official, so that no compensation is necessary
Did they not do away with the compensation thing?

I'd still like to see Hall for Batherson straight up. I think it would be a steal for us, but I guess you never know how any individual will perform in any given market. Hall would probably nix the deal though. He probably doesn't want to go to Ottawa.
Why would a team 13 points out of the playoffs and last in their division trade for the big name UFA at the deadline? Am I missing something?
-
I think we should All prepare to be underwhelmed, then the disappointment can’t hurt.
Hall (50% salary retained) for a low 2nd round pick
-
Do you think Linus walks to FA? He seems to have become a legitimate starter.

Something I really hate about 3 on 3 is why Buffalo willingly moves the puck back to neutral ice vs. trying to make something happen in the offensive zone....drives me nuts!
Because possession is more important in 3 on 3

If the rumours are all true, Rutherfords primary benefit to the Sabres would be as a big enough name to only agree to join if the Pegulas keep their hands out. Once he has achieved the space needed, he should put his feet up and relax - simply be on hand to bounce ideas about etc
-
My fantasy is all the NHL owners are due to go in for a meeting. Pegula goes to walk in the door and one of the other owners turns to him and says ‘sorry, this is a meeting for people who own NHL clubs’ and all the other owners laugh at him.
This humiliation humbles him and sparks him to do whatever it takes to win the Stanley cup, including getting his grubby mitts out of the pie, just to avenge his derision.

Just stumbled across this. So annoying lol
"The Blues paid a signing bonus O'Reilly was owed July 1, the newspaper reported. The Sabres would have had to pay it if O'Reilly was traded after that.
"If it went past midnight today, the asking price was certainly going to be a lot different," Botterill said. "You never say never, but it certainly played a role in making sure the deal was done today.""
The Pegulas did it to save money, and the irony is that this has and will continue to cost them far more as a result

I like Torts and I think he is good at whipping an underperforming team up and making them accountable.
I also think within 2-3 years he overstays his welcome and his schtick wears off.
Plus he is bad at favouring vets over rookies and demanding everyone be defensively responsible - which is an issue when you have $9 million a year in Skinner

Laf is a LW behind Krieder and Panarin and isn't seeing that much ice time.
He'll improve. Too bad he's a Ranger though.
I mean that makes it worse right? Sheltered minutes against weaker opposition etc.
However, I agree he will be fine. Everyone expects a first overall to be a McDavid or Crosby or Ovechkin. But they are all generational players.
Look at how Stamkos started his career vs how he plays (when not injured)

Remember when they asked Krueger if Jack was hurt and he outright lied?
Can’t trust anything these guys have to say anyways
I don't know why this was so controversial? Coaches lie all the time about injuries. 'Yeah Jack's got a bad neck, so if the opposition move the puck laterally he'll have a hard time tracking it'
-
Have we also reported the changes to the scouting department? With the new head of amateur scouting an head of pro scouting (rather than just scouting) - means different person running our draft board this year.
Also rumours of more scouts being recruited

I think Ulmark might need to score a goal too

He has basically disappeared off the face of the world. No news about him in any capacity. Does he still intend to play hockey?

Does Dahlin still get the penalty minutes even though they scored?
