  1. I haven't felt so many warm fuzzies about the Sabres in a LONG time - it's especially incredible after the gawd-awful season opener - I expected another season of 'suffering'. I don't know what lit the fire in this team between the 1st and 2nd game, but it was an amazing bounce-back!
  2. What a great game and great win! And ABOVE .500 - first time in YEARS!!!! Just have to work on reducing shots on goal against - 37 this game, 44 the previous game. That's putting a lot on the goalie!
  3. Nice to hear the crowd involved - 3 goals in the 2nd, EVEN even better!
  4. Away, Pommenstein aside, from the 3 or 4 minutes I was able to watch, looked like a good first period for the Sabres.
  5. Yup - only got to watch a few minutes of the 1st period, but he looks bad - got pushed around - and then he passed it across ice to center ice - where there was no one to take it - and turned it over to Vegas. It gave me not so found recollection of the Captain Creampuff days..... jeez!!!
  6. ^^^^^ This! McDermott and Beane's irrational love of Peterman has really hurt the Bills. It also makes me greatly question McDermott's competency at evaluating talent - especially the MOST critical position on any team - QB. And not just Peterman - look at the other moves/decisions; Why spend $2.6 million on McCarron, then give him away? Why now go once more to the Carolina Well and hire Anderson, a guy with totally mediocre stats? Why hire a QB coach for your alleged FRANCHISE rookie QB who hasn't coached QB in three decades? Shades of pulling Chan Gailey from the retirement home; we know how well that worked. I wished McDermott and Beane weren't so parochial, and didn't constantly go to Carolina's 2nd hand shop for fixes for the Bills.
  7. Yup. Not just that - the defense needs to step it up - we certainly cannot allow a top-shelf team like Vegas to bang 40+ shots on goal, as the Rangers did, and hope to win, no matter who is in the net.
  8. I'm ok with it - gives an excuse to play a little hooky this afterlunch (working virtual today anyway). I'll put the game on, and do a little work, watch a little hockey.
  9. Lehner is performing his best work for Buffalo yet - being GONE! This big loser was a mistake to add to the roster from Day 1, seemingly couldn't stop a breakaway or one on one shot to save his life, was frequently injured, never seemed able to make the big or clutch save, and seemed to contribute more than his deserved share of locker room drama. WildCard said it best - "Fck this guy"
  10. After 2 games, Carter Hutton looking like a solid goalie! Can't blame him for that Bealieu bungle.
  11. Eichel looking like Eichel! Great game and GREAT clean win!!!!
  12. Wasn't very good defense at all - they let the 2 Rangers players set up camp in front of the net.
  13. Pominstein slow on that puck - the Rangers player overtook him and turned it into icing.
  14. Yeah - pretty solid. The only negative - Eichel has been surprisingly invisible, except for one glimmer of skill on a PP in the 2nd period. Hasn't had his best game - for sure.
  15. Agreed - don't want players swinging sticks like tennis rackets - would greatly increase risk of serious injuries.
  16. Wow - looked sloppy at the end of the 2nd - almost like some of the Sabres stopped playing with 10 seconds left. Well, now we will see if the Sabres are now truly a 3 period team - or if they start coasting in the 3rd as we've seen in past seasons.
  17. Wow - Girgensons almost made a huge mistake - leaving the puck on ice in front of the goal. Very heads up work by Hutton.
  18. We're only 90 minutes into the season, but I also note that Hutton doesn't seem to give up as many juicy rebounds as Lehner, and he seems more skilled at knowing when to cover up and slow things down.
  19. GREAT work by Hutton. Guess we won't have to worry about shoot outs or one on ones anymore - he made the stop on a 3 on 1
  20. That was the EIchel we wanted to see on that powerplay.
  21. Hutton stopped 14 shots in the first frame - that's a very good job!
  22. Very good first period for the Sabres - and a bonus Power Play to start the second period! Good stuff!
  23. just rewound and watched again - yeah, VERY nice work!!! If we can go into the locker room with a lead at the end of the period - I may actually be happy and not ticked off/disgruntled/muttering for once.
  24. Hutton with some nice work in the seconds after the goal to keep them from evening the score at once! AND nice fight there - team really looks fired up (at least for now)
