This was very much an upsetting game, and not in a "OMG SABRES SUCK" or "F U SABRES" kind of way. It was just a dagger to the heart that was so tantalizingly close to being pure ecstasy. Matthews with 2 seconds left? Leafs fans in KBC jumping for joy? ***** the hockey gods. The Sabres don't need your *****. I know the Sabres are as upset as any of us, and it's going to mean good things for us.

Risto and Pilut played against Matthews a lot. And were awesome. I'd leave those guys be. And Dahlin was sublime tonight. Our first line scored all three goals. The rest of the forward group is, once again, drying up. Guys named Reinhart, Skinner, or Jack haven't scored for three straight games now.

The Sabres have a nice three day stretch without playing. Hopefully this game gave them their mojo back, they sure played like it. If our boys are back, and well-rested, no reason to think we won't start winning games again, as painful as it is to lose like that. Risto was coverage on the 3rd Toronto goal away from his best game since he scored the game winner after shutting down McDavid in Buffalo in November 2016. It was a great effort and I think they've found their confidence, and are now pissed off in a good way.

That's the kind of game that makes a guy log out of Sabrespace.

I'm not sure what our depth scoring is right now, but when I counted a few weeks ago, they were pacing for dead last in the league again, while the top line was scoring like one of the best in hockey. Duffer is probably referring to that.

If we carry this play forward from this game, we will get back to winning more games than we lose.

They're playing well for the most part, with a couple of critically bad decisions and one lull in play earlier in the 2nd costing them the 2 goals.

Two Buffalo Sabres gave the leafs crisp breakout passes on two shifts in a row. The second one is a goal. Assist to Larry. Come the ***** on guys. You're playing so well but making three two many idiotic decisions.
