  9. I believe there is a difference in the NHL/ NHLPA issuing press releases as they did last season and the Commissioner and President of PA having a press conference to demonstrate support for players no matter what they choose to do, as the latter carries more weight. Unfortunately that’s a side effect of being athlete/celebrity in the social media age, there will be a spotlight on them if they choose to participate in warmups in a different jersey or if the beat reporters tweet they are not on the ice. Not only Athletes but everyone has the right to stand up for what they believe in and no matter what your stance is someone will vehemently disagree with that position, look at what happened in the NFL and NBA with their players in the preceding years. Hell there were people upset on Twitter at Tage for wearing a Chik A Fila Hat during post game interviews. From all accounts a vast majority of players enjoyed wearing the specialty jerseys in warm ups whether they be HFC, St Pattys Day or Pride Nights. It’s one game per season and 99% choose to participate. The players know the makeup of the room better than anyone else does, maybe let the players themselves decide if they want to continue or not.
  10. He does have favorites on roster, Jeff Marek was the one who mentioned JJP as one, but with Kim’s Health and the Bills Stadium Agreement, coupled with the trust that they have in Kevyn Adams, they have been hands off with the team.
  11. There is going to be a firestorm no matter what the NHL does. Friedman, Marek and Lebrun have spoken out against the proposed changed. Brian Duff was upset on Sabres Live on Friday. It’s going to rekindle when the Special Event Game Nights approach next season
  12. Peterka has become a Pegula Favorite (Zemgus is another one) Moving Him would require a holy ***** package that has K’Andre Miller or Evan Bouchard coming back.
  13. Given that Bettman made the announcement after the Board of Governors Meetings, I have a feeling the decision came from the Owners not wanting to deal with the backlash more so than taking the pressure off the players. I personally think that a joint press conference with Gary Bettman and NHLPA Director Marty Walsh announcing that any player not wanting to participate in any theme night for personal, religious or political beliefs can choose to sit out warm ups or choose to wear a regular jersey instead with full support of the league and the Union. Walsh was a champion for the LBGTQ Community as a mayor and he fully supported the players who choose not to participate. All special events including Pride Night will continue with or without jerseys. On Sabres Live they even mentioned some players probably will continue to use rainbow tape on their sticks. Bud Light managed to piss off both Conservatives and the LBGTQ Community truly a remarkable feat.
