....and that's where my eyes glaze over.
none of it is really hard. It comes down to who is shooting more.

Thank you. You deserve a Beef and Barrel dinner sometime. <--- even more awkward
Even more than that he deserves the return of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

There is. That panther has no tail.
That's one backed up cat.

My biggest surprise is really Franson. I knew he was slow. But he is really surprisingly slow.
So that's my biggest surprise. Franson is a three-toed sloth skating with a 120 lb pack, uphill.

Foligno. He's so much more mature as a player than he was under previous coaching.
He's really playing well IMO. The passing, the smart plays, controlled aggression without being stupid. Even though he scored a weak goal last night, he's been playing much better than his numbers would suggest.

Love it. Duck Season/Rabbit Season. :)

My thoughts from the Game...
Jack Eichel is a BEAST - He doesn't look 6'2" until you see him up close
I kept Yelling at the Tampa fans that 'My Johnson's bigger than your Johnson'
Right from the start they were the harder working team.
I don't remember much else

Jack is really backing teams off with his skating. Although Franny the Sloth made a great shot, Jack created the time and froze the d.
Bert could do that.
I can't remember any Sabre scoring from below his own goal line. Risto's goal might be the longest goal in team history. I know Harry Neale would have tagged it in feet.
And Ocho ends up with some spectacular looking saves, mostly because he's slow to arrive for the play once he's not square. He ends up with more teetering highlight saves in a single start than you'll see from a Lundquist in a season. That said, he's giving the team a chance to win, and he's been smart holding the puck because he's not a great handler. Good to see him get the win.

And anyone who thinks that playing against Horvat is sheltered minutes, hasn't been watching him play this year.
I like Horvat.

Greasy hair, scores a bunch, his wheelhouse is practically beneath the goal line. Y'know, Doug.
dougy stamkos......yah, he's a player, all right. I think i've heard a him.

"And" you say? Here I thought they were one in the same.
So, i like getting freaky in delis. Nothing wrong with that is there?

It is not slimy.
Right? When you're offended by a professor saying that it's ok to let college students make costume choices, I'd say you're having a pretty good life.
I've been to a college on Halloween. It turns out, as far as I could tell, that a good costume is one that leads to .

When MMA opened I had season tickets behind a guy who every single game ate two fried bologna sandwiches and a huge tub of buttered popcorn. He was probably 40-ish years old. I often wonder if that guy is still around, and if he still walks the earth is he downing the fried bologna at the same rate?
We used to call those elephant ears. He's probably on his last legs. Watching the Sabres from his assisted living facility.

I've interacted and hung out a bit with Rob on several occasions, mostly as a result of my younger kids being the same age as his kids. He is as advertised, as they say. A kind-hearted man who happens to have meat hooks for hands. He is genuinely kind to and good with the kids as well, not just his own.
It is for these reasons that I maintain such a soft spot for him, even while his colour commentating is a bit choppy. Shoot. He's even said stuff from time to time that hints at a recognition that he may not ultimately hold onto the gig; that it doesn't come naturally but that he's working at it.
Good guy.
I'd really like him personally. Funny. Warm. Genuine. And because of those things I find him tolerable because of that familiarity.
But I've never once thought he was good at the color thing. Jim Lorenz really hasn't been replaced, except for occasional flashes of Harry Neal's old brilliance. But we really didn't get that night to night.

I'll be in attendance tonight, Row 2 right next to the Sabres bench...
I'll look for you.

It's not so much hate for him as where he's playing. But, he's a player, so when I see the play live, I blame him because he's directly involved. He can play on the 3rd line all day, just not the 1st, 2nd, pp, or pk
So it really is a matter of coaching and depth more than his effort.
I don't expect much production from him. But expect some. But he's on the roster to straighten out the room. That's how I see it.

I don't get the Gionta hate. I don't see him taking shifts off. I see a team that doesn't take shifts off. He's not a 40 goal scorer.
Gionta for Captain.

Which, again, is very Imlach-esque. Punch's criteria on whether to make a trade was simple: is the team better after the trade than it was before. That philosophy, some astute drafting, and sharp eyes at the carnival wheel table had the Sabres an elite franchise through the better part of the '70's. (Never completed the journey, but d*mn, the ride was fun.)
Bowman always said, the team that gets the best player wins the trade.
It turned out it wasn't Dale McCourt. :)

Was Teppo a coach? Seems like I remember him behind the bench.
Nolan let him go.

It was a reply to Marvelo's post...I thought one dumb reply deserved another...
d4rksabre,
Buff is the most beloved active sports figure in the Peg so I can't really see that happening.
I see no reason to take sides on this. he was not part of the trade.
Kane takes kids to dave and Busters. He's off to a decent start.
-
Sabres are 6-8 for 12 points.
Jets are 8-5-2 for 18 points...
Ya, I see how the Sabres won the trade...
Well, Buffalo was 3-11-2 on this date last year.
Winnepeg was 8-5-2
Sounds like a wash for the Peg.

I generally agree with some of the sentiments posted upthread -- I would love to see Buff on the Sabres but I think his showdown with Kane didn't reflect well on him.
Ducky -- do you think the Jets will re-sign Buff? If not, why not?
My bet. Boston will want him.

I'm for embellishment and against diving.
Embellishment is everything I hate.

Maybe overlooked maybe not but the fact that Foligno decided to get that puck back to Risto on the gwg instead of trying to jam it by Millsie or just shoot it speaks volumes on the scouting the Sabres did as well as their gameplan on how to beat Miller. Good job under pressure.
It was a really smart play by Foligno. Miller is hard to beat down low.
Why is Babcock considered to be a great coach?

I really do think the Leafs are a well-coached team that is bad.
Good coaching doesn't change the talent, it gets the most out of it.
It's a bad team.
