  1. All teams have an equally gruelling schedule. Look for the holding and hooking penalties to be on the rise as the month progresses, and players get tired. Teams that have the best special teams over the next month will prevail.

I'm looking for the Flyers to really fade down the stretch. They are old and slow and this schedule will kill them

  2. LA LA LALALA LA LALA FONTAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why the hell is the pregame blacked out on MSG, along with the Lafontaine ceremonY????? On the "TV Guide Channel" it says its supposed to be on.....I am absolutely livid, this is bullsh*t. Right now the taped repeat "PokerStars II" is on my TV and not the damn ceremony. I HATE MSG, we need to get a new TV deal, because the Sabres are last in line all the time when it comes to that channel.

Ya, I wanted those two morons playing poker put against a wall and shot!

  3. I remember that game clearly. Espisito was there and Gretz hadn't scored in a few games, nor did he in first and second period but Richie Dunn lost the puck and Wanye went in on Edwards--not Sauve mind you!--and scored. I think they stopped the game for awhile. I friend of mine wrote a poem about that the next day. We were in 8th grade

At Memorial Auditorium, the Oilers' Wayne Gretzky scores his 77th of the season (and, later, his 78th and 79th) to set a new NHL record for most goals in a season. Gretzky steals the show from the Sabres' own great, Gilbert Perreault, who has a hat trick of his own in a 6-3 loss.

Lafontaine and Mogilny were unstoppable that year. It was a season long highlight reel.

Lafontaine's injuries prevented him from having a long and productive career as a Sabre. :(

Ya, that was an exciting time to be a Sabres fan! But its even better now!

  4. I believe I also remember this game. If memory serves, Mike Folino passed to Housley on a two on one and they had a major love in behind the net after the goal.

Phil Housley scores in the final minute of overtime at the Spectrum in Philadelphia as the Sabres beat the Flyers, 5-4, for their seventh straight win. It's the Sabres' third overtime win in February in the NHL's first year of a five-minute extra session to try and decide regular-season games.

  5. Drury, Roy and Brier are my favs now, but there are a whole bunch in scond place. And really, I can't think of anyone on the team I just flat out do not like.

Just because I need a Sabres fix and news is really slow, I will state for the group that Rico was my favorite Sabre when I was a kid. My favorites now are Connolly and Miller.

I'd be interested in hearing who others' favorites are, both past and present.

    Go Sabres.
