that does suck man. does your company have sick leave and vacation? or is all just "personal time"? either way, it sucks having to burn anything.

We have a no fault sick policy. So if you have cancer you accrue the same amount of points for calling in sick as the kids who call in for their 21st birthday party.

Ugh...one more promotion and I won't have to worry about points, or not getting paid. And I'll get to do even less work than I do now.

  2. Fiance got stuck working a double so I have to call in to work in order to stay home and watch our son. Its great that she gets paid time and a half but the problem is I make double her time and a half on my regular pay. And now I have to burn a vacation day so I can still get paid...sucks.

I'm a 3rd liner grinder on that team. I'll take my 3 points with ######-eating grin any day of the week....

I'm a two way defensemen who lays the body way too much and takes himself out of position. Lindy would have benched me years ago. My goal hit every inch of the goalie and fell across the line. I also spent 4 minutes in the bad box...but we still won!

  4. Small complaint. Bands that suck that get gigs in public. There is a band playing tonight at one of the bars in my place of business. Not only are they playing bitchy punk pop from the 2000's (simple plan, fall out boy, all american rejects...holy ###### are they all terrible!!) But the singer can't sing, and I mean CAN'T SING! He couldn't carry a tune in a bucket! The drummer can't drum! When the hi-hat and the crash are the only things I hear, you suck! And I'm fairly certain the guitarist and the bass player are having their first lessons tonight on stage.

Or we could just ban Subway. It's a win-win. Subway's "cold cuts" don't resemble real food. It's like Arby's, but colder.

12 inch 9 grain wheat with turkey, provolone, Swiss, cucumbers, black olives, spinach and southwest sauce!

After that health fest I think I'll have a nice cold molson.

  6. The devastation in northern PA is remarkable. The region is in shambles -- almost looks like the 1800s here, and there's some serious social de-evolution taking place. Wait... it always looks like this.

Yeah, I was gonna say...It's looked like this the past 2 and a half years I've lived here...

  7. Right on the edge of the wind and rain right now in the Scranton area...not so bad yet, 30 mph winds are about as bad as its been. I guess Wilkes Barre lost power, and with how things get done here in the good old commonwealth, it will probably be out until someone re-invents electricity. I hope to god we don't lose power. I cant live without lights, and i have a walking, talking fire hazard (8 year old) living with me, so that automatically rules out candles.

Good luck to everyone whose in worse shape. Hope all is well.

  8. Maybe? It seems like an excuse for getting beat by a better player.

That being said, when commenters talk about the grunting it doesn't seem like they are objecting for competitive balance, but rather for appearance reason. Like grunting isn't dignified.

Monica, better than Steffi? I think not, sir. Not that I think you were trying to start a debate like that, just thought I'd point out that Steffi was twice as good as Monica.

As far as grunting goes...I don't think i really care either way, some are annoying others aren't, I'm pretty sure I did it unconsciously during my tennis career, so i guess i can't condemn it. And i agree with the 1919 comment, I feel that way seeing the players wearing all white a Wimbledon.

Had a beauty of Chinook break me off, and a steelhead that threw the hook. Saw quite a few fish actually get caught though. <_<

Fricking Chinook was almost as long as my leg. I guess today was about as good an example of, a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work if ever there was one.

Is it time to just say "f--- it" and just start foul hooking them yet, or do you still have some patience left? For the record, I do not advocate this, I just know a few guys who are on a fishing trip right now as well and I'm pretty sure they are in the same figurative boat as you.

  10. Got promoted in late January and lost my days off (Sunday, Monday) the week before the Superbowl. OK, that sucked, but after 7 months of being #1 on the list to get them back, I finally got em! Just in time for the regular season and just in time for my Sunday night hockey league! Oh yes, life is good.

  11. You want another good one? The other team's goalie was about 10 minutes late for the game last night. To cover that, they always give that team a delay of game penalty to start the game. The ref didn't like that, so in order to make it up to them, he just threw the opening faceoff directly to their defenseman. And I'm not talking about a poorly dropped puck, he underhand tossed the puck to the other team. I still have no idea what the hell that was all about.

Our refs aren't too too bad. Semi-douchy at times, they will throw a faceoff to the D-men every now and then, but generally its pretty fair. But that may be because the general BAC of the majority of my league is pushing .12 by the time we all step on the ice. But that will happen when your playing with ex AHL and some ex NHLers. They gotta be tanked or its not fair for the rest of us who never made it.

  12. My fiancé works with the mentally handicapped. She heads up a house that takes care of 3 men. Ted is one of her residents. Ted is a real sweetheart to my fiancé because she actually cares for him, unlike everyone else working at that house who is just there for a paycheck.

A couple weeks ago she arrives to work at 7am to find Ted moaning painfully in his wheelchair complaining about his foot hurting. Turns out he accidentally pulled his TV off its stand onto his foot the night before and was put to bed without anyone checking him over, despite him complaining of pain in his foot. So he was put to bed suffering with a broken foot and no one found out until my girlfriend arrived the next morning. Strike 1.

Today she again calls me from the hospital. Ted has a broken clavicle and his shoulder is popped out of place. He's being taken into surgery now and the only thing he had to say was the name of the employee who did it to him. Strikes 2&3. I hope this person gets so much more than fired. What kind of person takes out their frustrations on the utterly helpless. What a ###### ######. Sorry, I couldn't come up with something more articulate than ###### ######, but I'm pretty upset right now.

Now a little lighter complaint. I'm going to get denied a promotion next week when I already have it in the bag. This promotion is mine and I cant take it because i cant change shifts. My fiance works 7am til 3pm and i work 7pm-3am. It works out perfectly for someone to be home with our son at all times. I cant take the promotion because it will be on grave shift 3am-11am, and that leaves no one to watch our son, or put him on the bus in the morning. Oh well, guess I'm gonna have to wait a couple more months.

    However; brightside!

Currently i have been out of my hockey league for the last 3 sessions because when i got my last promotion my days off changed from Sunday-Monday to Wednesday-Thursday. Now, promotion or not, I'm going to be getting my Sunday-Mondays back and I'll be back in my league!

So I'm at an outdoor festival gig last night on a series of soccer pitches — it's flat, no seats, no stands.

Weather's hot and sunny, about 12,000 people having fun, relatively mellow by rock show standards.

My wife and I are standing maybe six rows back from the stage waiting for the headliner. Crowd is pretty tight, but nobody's moving yet.

I'm shoulder-to-shoulder with a big dude — maybe 6'6", athletic, not with anyone.

He's drunk, but not overly obnoxious. We talk a bit, not much and I kinda forget about him.

A while later I notice he's gone down on one knee.

Me and the guy on the other side look at him, then at each other, our jaws drop — he's quietly taking a piss.

I nudge my wife, and others start to notice.

Girl in front of him — literally less than a foot away — turns, shrieks "ohmigod!" and pushes forward.

Her boyfriend looks like he's ready to pop the guy one, checks out how big he is, then decides to join his girl.

Crowd opens a small hole around him. he finishes, zips, then calmly stands up like nothing happened.

    On with the show.

Maybe I lead a sheltered life, but I've never seen anything like it.

Can't let having to take a piss mess with being 6th row from the stage just before the headliner is about to come on.

This bugs the hell out of me! Especially since the one's where I am that are doing it, make more than me, and don't devote one full paycheck a month to student loans! I'm making ends meet, STFU! :censored:

best part about interns haha! I remember being one of 'em too

My complaint: Control freaks, and parents that charge their kids that are still in college rent (aka my girlfriend's father). She's trying to go to med school, and has enough money saved for one year's tuition after inheriting 90% of the money from her aunt. Her parents charge her rent, make her buy her own food, charge her for health and car insurance, her cell phone, and then on top of that she buys her own gas, and has to buy all the stuff for her apartment and school. :censored: The guy pisses me off with how selfish he is, and how greedy he can be. He just takes the money from her account to pay for some of those bills. If she wasn't about to start med school, and was completely done with school, I could understand it, but she's not going to be able to keep working much during med school, so her income is going to be gone.

Do any of you parentals charge your kids rent? Will you be charging your kids rent at some point? am I delusional to think that this is ridiculous? I live at home now, and don't pay rent per say. But I pay the cable/internet/phone bill, I buy half the groceries, I pay my part of the family plan cell phone bill, and I do my share of stuff around the house to help my mom out. I also, as stated above pay a large amount in student loans (thanks RIT), so I feel as if my mom is giving me a fair deal.

My parents never charged me a dime! For anything! My mother did my laundry until I was 22. They paid for my food, cable, internet, central air, the whole 9 yards. And this is all with me taking 6 years (and 3 colleges) to graduate.

the only things I ever paid for were my car, gas and books. And beer money of course.

I could never imagine charging my son rent! Not ever. My fiancè (who's been on her own since 17) doesn't get it at all. But that's just how I am. I don't care how long he lives with me to be honest. As long as he's got a job and is planning to move out at some point, he can live here for free.

  15. The commonwealth of pennsylvania...that's my complaint! Hate the entire north eastern quarter of this armpit of a state.

Got a ###### speeding ticket from a part time cop, using his ultra high tech, state-of-the-art STOPWATCH!!! Plead not guilty and asked for a trial, as per usual. (by the way, they still hand write the tickets in this 19th century excuse for a state, so i had to wait for my trial date to come in the mail.) Court date notice never arrived, but my bench warrant sure did!

I drove to the court house/gift shop/deli (I swear to god, I'm not making that up) to tell them that i never received notice of the trial, and they said "yes, you did." To which I replied, "why would i plead not guilty and then skip my hearing?" She had no reply to this but to say "You never opened your certified mail." Then the bitch hands me an unopened letter out of my file, and promptly snatches it back before i can even look at it.

So now i have to go through the process of filing a appeal just so i can get out of a $150 dollar speeding ticket that they cant even give me any points for!

It's not the money, it's the principal of it. I want my day in court as it is my right as an American to have one!

A cop is a constable, a judge is a magistrate, its like i moved 165 miles and woke up in 1895! Can't buy beer at a store, the pizza here is bread and ketchup with american cheese on it. There are no houses with lawns, garages and driveways don't exist, on street parking is considered a luxury here. The roads suck, they don't know how to plow in the winter, every ###### drives in the left lane while going 55.....holy hell, I cant wait to get back to New York!! One and a half more years of this....hopefully less.

Apologies to all the PA citizens that I have offended with this message.

EDIT: And my most sincere apologies to those with actual issues and complaints that really matter to peoples lives. In comparison this is all trivial ramblings. Biodork, that really sucks and I'm sorry she has to go through that.

  16. Another complaint of today: I have been working on getting ready for qualification testing on one of our products, and I have been having a hard time getting straight answers out of my customer, so we did everything we could with the little info that we had. This is the first time we've ever qualified our unit on an individual basis rather than at the actuator/system level, so we also have no idea what to use for loads etc. Well, I just got off the phone with the boss of the contact I've been talking to for 5 months...and he just undid most of the work by correcting what was wrong. I could've saved endless days of headaches by calling him months ago :wallbash:  :death:

Sucks, doesn't it? You'll find that some...in fact, I'll be bold and say that MOST people aren't very good at their jobs, and/or make working with/for them much more difficult than it should be. (I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about your contact.)
