  1. Murray professed a love for strong-skating defencemen who can get the puck and turn back up ice.

Out of context obviously, but a point for Ekblad

I believe some in here who believe TM is baiting Snow. And I can't blame him. Any chance of getting Reinhart and one of Dal Colle, Draistl, Bennett or a tier below player would be considered a coup for the Sabres out of this draft.

  2. http://www.fantasysp...as-a-day-to-day

Drew Stafford was forced out of Thursday's game against the Wild due to an upper body injury.

Impacts: There had been speculation that Stafford might be involved in a deal with the Canadiens for the disgruntled Daniel Briere, but we have to presume any trade talks will be halted until there's an update on Stafford's condition.

Stafford left Thursday's game with an upper-body injury and will not return.

    Interesting..................

Spin: The injury could force the Sabres to call up another forward after the game, as the team already entered Thursday with Ville Leino unavailable with a lower-body injury. Stafford is primarily a deep-league option only with 13 points, 29 penalty minutes and a minus-9 rating through 41 games, but that still makes him one of the more productive forwards for the lowly Sabres.

  3. You were absolutely right.

Of course I was, as were many others.

To rage about something from emotion is to forgo relevant facts. In this case, the eyes tell a tale of truth in the replay.

But, in the interest of full disclosure, I've had more than my fair share of ranting and raving from emotions. Hey, what can I say, like all of you, I'm emotionally vested in hockey..............

  4. If we end up with the #2 pick and Reinhart is taken #1, I look to Edmonton for a trade. And not just in picks mind you. I'd look to move a young stud d man with the pick for a chance at one of Eberle or Yakupov, that is, if they are game for it.

What I am hoping for is a crack at another top 5 pick this draft. Without having to give up the 1st overall. What that would require can be up for debate for sure. But any one of Dal Colle, Leon Draisaitl or Nick Ritchie.

It would be nice to have a winger to go along with Reinhart.

  5. FWIW, the guy who did a house inspection for me last year did the whole thing on his iPad -- photos, presentation, correspondence, billing, etc.

I am just about sure items 2 through 5 are pretty easy on the iPad. Not sure what you're looking for with #1 -- although I think some of the tablets can serve as phones -- maybe that's it? Anyway, If his car and his phone both have Bluetooth, that's all he needs and the tablet isn't involved. If his car doesn't have Bluetooth but his phone does, he can use one of those $40 Bluetooth headsets for hands-free.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'm going to check out the software available for the IPAD. I'd like to scan his 1 page estimate form in, then, with voice recognition software, have him speak to fill it out, since he's not a typer for sure. Then, Print out a hard copy for the customer. I'd also like to link it to a data base, so he can finally start to run some real revenue generation and potentials numbers.

My Brother runs S&S Tree Service out of North Tonawanda, and his operation is growing very quickly since he took over, just looking to make it easier for him.

  6. I need some help as well with regards to an xmas gift for my brother.

He runs a small business and does alot of estimates around the northern region of WNY. He uses paper, which is fine, but I'd like to simplify his system if possible with an Ipad or tablet, he's not into typing, so touch screen is what I'd be looking at. One that can mount in a vehicle.

Here are the parameters I'd be interested in seeing, if anyone can tell me if something like this is available, please let me know, thanks.

    1. Plug wifi or usb hardline in for phone use direct on the pad/tablet.

    2. mounts to dash of vehicle.

    3. scan his estimate forms in via software and voice recognition so he can fill it out.

    4. attached small printer for paper print outs.

    5. GPS accessible.

Basically I'd like to try and tie in his phone that he can answer hands free, voice recognition so he can fill out his estimates on the go and print out a form as well.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

  7. Now tied for the team lead with Eric Staal and Nathan Gerbe.

Zach Kassian scored his fifth of the season last night for the Canucks.

Thomas Vanek has his 6th point in 8 games for the Islanders tonight.

Jason Pominville is 13g 4a 17pts in 24 games for the Wild. 18 points away from #500.

Not one of those stat numbers impress me.

Each of those players are playing in different environments. None of them has the ability to truly lead on their own, which is what Buffalo needs. Regardless of their personal stats season wise, Buffalo needs elite game changers, not support players in line ups with elite talent.

  8. Pysyk is doing just fine. It's the over all team play that hurts the D +/-. This team has no sustainable offensive zone presence, let alone pressure. The team, in it's roster entirety, is learning defensive hockey and not doing well at it I might add.

Player changes aren't needed, attitude, competitive environment, the will to go above and beyond and skill set training are needed however.

It was a mistake to send Risto and Zadorov down in my opinion. It does nothing for their NHL experience levels and actually sets the rebuild back IMHO. Build from the net out, we shouldn't be worried about these 2 players ability to grasp the rebuild time line, I believe they fully understood it.

Pysyk, although young, is getting that training in the NHL. We'll be fine on the blue line regardless. What this team needs is elite forward talent, and not just on lines 1 and 2, but 3 as well.

  9. Before everyone goes batsh it crazy on the new koolaid. I want to remind everyone that Nolans teams got outshot and got dominated on puck possesion last time he was here

    Thank you Darcy and Ron.

Look at Girgenson, his work ethic. Nolan's reputation on hard work precedes him. If there is compete in the players on the roster, he should be able to bring it out. Let's enjoy the ride while Nolan is here, at least until we can see actual results, one way, or the other.

  10. The move with Calgary with Smid was to clear cap space to sign Bryz. Its why the move took a while to announce cause they had to wait for the physicals to finish and the trade to be official to give them room to sign Bryz

Ah, thank you. Totally forgot about the Bryz signing.

  11. The fences are down. Rick and the group are going to realize in an episode or 2 that staying at the prison isn't feasible safety wise. They'll be on the move again I'm guessing. Further in land, TN maybe, or north. I'm guessing they are going to realize even with the huge risk being somewhat close to a population center, they'll need to be in travel distance for supplies. Food, medicine and other items.

Then there is the radio transmission heard by the medicine gathering party. The governor is back to finally end that scene and create another I'm guessing. They'll be on the move. If they were smart, they'd head into the hills of TN. The smokey mtns. Get water at the source to minimize possible contamination, close to Johnstown or Knoxville, for Supplies as well.

I hadn't noticed that, but you're right. The show is getting a little predictable.

It might get better when Darrell and Rick square off over Carol.

Daryl will be mad, but he'd already written off his own brother knowing the truth early on. Don't be fooled, Daryl is more complex than many give him credit for, he surely would understand the risks she created with the group. When your willing to take actions that the group would view as a threat to a majority of them. Maggie's response to Rick when he asked her, it's how the group in general is going to feel. The Daryl/Rick event will most likely begin and end next episode, and neither are going anywhere anytime soon off the show in my opinion. Hell, the entire series is based from the start around Rick, he surely isn't going anywhere.

  12. Well Dreger would know better than the internet gossip that sparked my post .

Still, they aren't trading him or Yak. Does that mean Hall and RNH should be nervous?

Did they dump Smid because they think a couple guys who couldn't make the Flames are the solution?

Or are they still holding out for that Ales Hemsky for Shea Weber deal?

A buddy of mine thinks Hall should be the one that goes — he's too brittle physically and mentally to be a franchise guy, but still packs enough cred to get a better return than any of the big four.

I believe they dumped Smid in preparation of another move. Neither of those players picked up from Calgary are going to do much in Edmonton. I think many hockey fans that follow the talent somewhat closely feel the same way. I also believe Hemsky will get moved as well. Maybe as part of a blueline solution, just speculating on that end of it though. My eye is on the cap for them, and not just short term, but somewhat longer term as well.

Agreed on Hall. I too feel it would be foolish to jettison Eberle and to early to do the same to Yak.

  13. Lots of scuttlebutt that Eberle is the young star the Oilers have decided to jettison to fix their team and it's going to happen soon.

We need to be all over that.

    Darren Dreger says otherwise :P

Darren Dreger: In the eyes of Oilers management, Jordan Eberle will be an Oiler forever. He’s not a trade target

GM of team A can inquirer or look into any player they'd like, that doesn't mean team B, who has aforementioned player, is going to trade them however.

  14. No, it's true. Just depends on what you want and if it is worth it. Realistically, the Sabres could move Stafford if they were willing to take something like a 5th rounder. But there's no point in making that move. He serves more of a purpose in Buffalo in filling the lineup and helping them stay at the cap floor during the rebuild.

There are some guys/contracts that you'd have to add more to make the deal enticing for them (for instance, giving a team a decent prospect so they'll take on a bad contract).

I'm not saying every player has positive value. There are a lot of guys who have negative value, but if you compensate with enough positive value assets then you can entice certain teams to take anybody.

    This is true.

How about eating the $6 million or so owed and just send him packing? Time has proved that he's not an underachiever, he just can't play.

This is also not only true, but the appropriate route to take. We don't need to actually have him on the ice if were worried about the cap floor. We merely have to have him as a cap hit.

Let him sit in the press box all season, ######'em.

  15.

If we go 2nd and Reinhart gets taking first... hmmmm it would depend on where other forwards are ranked and how they look. Remember Jones was ranked 1st or tied with MacKinnon and he fell to 4th. Personally I would have to see the drop off btw the forward and the defender but if you chose to go Forward and the guy is gone at #2 than trade back a little if needed.

I can assure you, the Sabres aren't trading back if they pick 2nd and Eckblad is there. They'll take him, and rightfully so. Why in the hell would you decrease your ability to accumulate bargaining chips?

Look, I know fans are already falling in love with Risto, Zad's, Pysyk and McCabe, but honestly, if we get Eckblad, it would be a coup, no doubt about it.

I'm all for offensive elite players in the draft, but you don't turn away from talent like Eckblad in a trade down, that's just insane.

  16. Remember, Ehrhoff could be traded and Myers is Myers.

    Don't rule out Ekblad yet.

I feel the same way. Ekblad does look awfully good with the 1st overall pick. I know we need forwards, but if he continues his play, it would be very difficult to turn away from him. And I also agree on Ehrhoff and Myers as well.
