Five drafts (2013 - 2017) with 22 premium selections (1-3 rounds) and only 4 starters (Risto, Reinhart, Eichel and Mittelstadt) to show for it. Some traded but others are in AHL or lesser leagues. That is why they are hurting right now.

Sabres have been a bad franchise for 20 years. Not all Pegulas fault. Since the end of the 2000-2001 season they made the playoffs four times. Tonight they might as well embrace tanking.

The Sabres used to have a really good scouting group and drafted well. Have been a dumpster fire the past 15 years and the product on the ice shows it. Draft has been a nightmare and it will not get better for YEARS.

Ever wonder if they sent word thru channels to tell the Pegulas not to come calling? RK was a bottom of the barrel hire.

These no look passes are leading to turn overs more often than not

2004 they purged the department and went to an all video scouting system. Look at the years of 2005-2011 and the wasted drafts.

This may explain why they stink on ice in the shoot out.

I recall the odd move of canning the majority of the scouting department. That has had an effect for years on the team and its drafting. I did not mean Granato. The new HC is out there watching like the rest of us.

It is a mix bag of talented guys. No leaders among them and too many with bad habits.
