Don't forget the Sabres have another first round pick and two second round picks. They will get some talented young men this year. If done well, the future is bright.

Even Milbury looked bummed for the kid. Edmonton does nothing for the NHL to market to the US audience. It is not a good TV fit. Even if they sign him...there will not be a flood of free agent talent wanting to play there. It is not the 80s and Gretzky.

I was vilified for saying the Sabres would not get McDavid. The odds are against any team that finished last getting the top pick. McDavid will be wasted in Edmonton.

It is sobering to know the odds favor the field (80) over the Sabres. (20). I want to hope but being a fan I am realistic. McDavid is a dream that seems just out of reach. Good luck TM and company.

PP should be one of the areas the team focuses on in the off season. Three straight years of sub par PP.

Makarov is playing a good game despite the 2 goals.

They way this group is playing top teams in the last half of the season gives me hope for next year. Add a couple players (including a goalie) and stay healthy, they will be better and much improved team. They have dumped more talented players the past two seasons but the point total and wins are the same. Tells you how many guys were content getting a pay check and not putting in the effort. Like the way they are playing the Islanders tonight.

There is a good, solid and aggressive young core to this team. They will not be a door mat next year.

Well that was an emotional pendulum swing for Sabres fans.

Hope this carries over into next season.

I was thinking the same thing. I watched some really bad hockey early on. Now they are playing like a playoff team.
