  1. A QB is only as good as the offense surrounding him. His stats are pretty darn good, especially the low # of picks. TD passes are low, but given what he had to throw to, I give him a pass. It may start as good intentions, but McCarron is limited in NFL experience and it might well end up a tank. And like you said, we made the playoffs - why would you not build on that instead of taking a step back ?
  2. I think signing McCarron would be with good intentions, but would end up as a tank. The only benefit would be cap room saved by ditching TT. I also think Beane/Daboll/McDermott have other plans rather than taking a step back, be it moving up and getting Rosen or Mayfield, trading for Foles, or making a play for Cousins. What kind of message does it send to the vets if they sign McCarron ?
  3. True, but we have other needs especially the OL with Wood retiring and Incognito getting older. Obviously can use some WR help and a new DT. Does McCoy have 2 more good years in him ? To me, signing McCarron is signaling a tank year.
  4. I hear ya, although I think this particular kid would have shot up the school with a couple of Glocks and a rifle or two. The body count doesn't matter; it's the fact he thought it ok to do something like that.
  5. You can ... it's just out of your hands. Here's hoping Beane/Daboll/McDermott can erase our bad track record.
  6. Wilson was a 3rd round gem find along the lines of Dak Prescott. The others you mention were all picked at slots above what the Bills have this year. McCarron has sat for most of 4 years - don't want him even though he would be cheap. I'd take Foles in a heartbeat if we could get him.
  7. And which QB would you bring in to groom the new guy and also lead the Bills to the big game ?
  8. Don't think so, the average yardage per penalty is fairly close between 2000 & 2017.
  9. There were 244 defensive pass interference calls in 2000-01 and 266 in 2017-18. 75 roughing the passer in 2000 and 105 in 2017. Those totals do not include penalties that were declined or offsetting. That is approximately 1 more per team in each category. Also, the league had 31 teams in 2000-01 and 32 last year. Hardly enough of a variance to back up your 14 TD comment.
  10. Specifics please - what rules affect the number of TD passes thrown ?
  11. I suggest you look up how many TDs Trent Dilfer threw for in Baltimore in 2000-01.
  12. Actually it is ... Bills made the playoffs this year with pathetic WRs and a substandard OL at times. Jackson could be an unknown failure. Maybe Beane will get it right with Daboll's influence.
  13. Wouldn't mattered ... the kid was a member of a militia group out of Tallahassee and could have gotten a weapon easily from them. So you're ok with an 18-year-old going into combat, but not being able to buy a weapon at home ?
  14. All good ideas but none of them will ever happen. I'd be happy with a full ban on AR weapons and a more intense background check. But I'm also a proponent of making older folks retake their driving tests after they reach a certain age due to decreased reaction time. That probably ain't happening either.
  15. And there's the rub - how do you reduce the ease with which people can acquire firearms ? There are plenty of gun transactions that are never recorded.
  16. Why not just upgrade the defense and save the pick ? And are you sure Jackson is an upgrade ?
  17. If Trent Dilfer can win a Super Bowl with a great defense, so can TT.
  18. See the Boston Marathon bombers, Tim McVeigh, Unabomber, and others for examples of how people can still hurt people without assault rifles. This kid was also exploring how to make bombs. Do firearms make it easier ? Sure ... no argument there.
  19. As I've already said, I support a ban on semi-automatic assault weapons. However I will never support a full gun ban as I do not believe it's right to take guns away from hunters, target shooters, and self-defense users. I don't what the answer is but in this case it appears the FBI did not do their job. When I was a kid, school shootings were non-existent but guns were available. Perhaps the underlying causes need to be addressed rather than a total ban on guns. Would you abolish alcohol because of a few fatal DUI related crashes ? Do you abolish pain meds because some overuse them and become addicted leading to more serious substance abuse ?
  20. Then why waste a pick on a QB at all ? Let's keep Taylor and shore up the o-line, get him some great targets to throw to, and build an impenetrable defense.
  21. I'm familiar with the DSM-5 ... If you can't define mental illness, how can you possibly stop a kid like him from buying guns ? Before you say ban semi-auto assault weapons, I'm with you on that. However, people who want to hurt others will always find a way.
  22. Do we know if this kid was ever treated for mental illness ?

  24. The kid was reported to the FBI and they did nothing.
  25. Who cares about Ryan, Orton, Grossman ? All pocket passers are not created equally either. Isn't the goal to win Super Bowls ? Rodgers has one - one more than we do.
