  1. Not to belabour it, but it’s his job to call the game as it’s being played. It was a beat down in the other team’s house in a marquee matchup and he completely ignored that story as it was unfolding in front of him. How much time did he spend dwelling on big Allen plays? On bad Mahomes throws? I go back to the 4th down stop that I pointed out in real time: the Bills covered the most dangerous receiving corps in football for 8 seconds on a crucial game-turning sequence, and he chose to talk about the great play of the Chiefs O-line. You know, the line that got owned by an exclusively 4-man front over 60. And not the 2ndary that held the most dangerous quarterback in football to 272 yards on 54 attempts, and picked him off twice. Call the game that’s being played, not the one you invented in your head.
  2. This is what I thought, but when I checked a few days ago CapFriendly had him as ineligible. Hope they are right and we’re wrong, but as you say moot now. Also, Casey Fitzgerald being here today is news no one expected.
  3. Also let the record show the Bills have physically dominated.
  4. Can Colinsworth talk about how badly Allen has outplayed Mahomes tonight, or would that draw a flag? The score is 38 to 20, in Arrowhead.
  5. Let the record show with the game on the line, Josh Allen delivered
  6. Josh doing Josh things.
  7. Brutal hold, but that roughing call made up for it.
  8. Roughing the passer?
  9. Secondary covers for 8 seconds, turns ball over on downs. Collins worth compliments the Chiefs line. Yes! Take that you *****.
  10. Bizarre all the way around. If another shoe fails to drop (he clears, we make another move that makes him redundant) I don't see the point in making a claim. Surely they weren't going to make a call on him based on the single exhibition game he missed?
  11. Weren't the rumours that Murray wanted Juolevi or Sergachev and Pegula wanted Chychrun but not Sergachev, so they ended up taking Nylander over McAvoy? What could have been...
  12. I remember him dominating against Rochester
  13. Not rankings per se, just players who have caught my eye as being better than where Sabrespace and/or outside consensus has them rated: Poltapov, Levi, Samuelsson, Power Players I worry might not be as good as their reputations: Cozens, Rosen, UPL, Portillo. Not sure where to put JJ in this list because I think expectations are changing; he’s been much more advanced than I expected, but I do worry he might follow a similar path to Cozens in terms of the growing hype exceeding his development pace. Are people now thinking he’s going to be Mike Gartner? Development is never straight and always interesting to watch.
  14. Somewhere @thewookie1 is pouring himself a glass of something fine.
  15. I’d like to see someone run the numbers on 28-year-olds and 8-year contracts. Does any GM ever not regret them? Looking at the highest-paid players on capfriendly, maybe the Patrick Kane deal might qualify? Doughty, Karlsson, Bobrovsky, Skinner, Subban, Jamie Benn… all bad deals Toews, Kopitar, Tavares, are all still good, but not worth their deals. Pietrangelo Panarin TBD. Zibanejad is worth that, maybe more, right now. But it won’t age well.
  16. It almost seemed like the “A”s went to the most veteran guys. Pretty sure Pysyk also had one and Miller as well. Dont recall Skinner with one, so that would disprove my theory.
  17. If he’s suspended he doesn’t count against the cap, right? If so they can’t suspend him; they’d be below the floor.
  18. I didn’t think it was boring at all. It was fast, the Sabres were fast and they didn’t allow much at all. Skinner was often exiting the zone early and getting up ice quickly; he had that drama Queen Euro soccer poser thing going that I can’t stand, but he needs when he’s on. That pass to Hinostroza might have been the best I’ve ever seen him make. Girgs and KO looked like warriors and old pros and Eakin actually was OK with them. Tage’s preseason hasn’t been universally loved but Ive liked him, especially tonight. He’s frequently in the middle of things on both ends of the ice. This was the other side of our D, the one that can succeed when they are moving the puck and their feet. Jacob Bryson was as good tonight as he was terrible against the Pens. I hope Hayden makes the team. He should have. Detroit is not a good team, but neither were the Pens. We skate that way on a consistent basis and I’ll keep watching.
  19. Didn’t catch it either, but he didn’t play in camp. Brandon Biro was another. At least two more forward cuts coming from Buffalo, probably out of Hayden Eakin, Peterka, Jonsson-Fjallby. And I’m going to guess Fitzgerald and Samuelsson on D So, when healthy, something like (not sure if I missed anyone, and not actual suggested lines) …? Murray Eakin Peterka Mersch Malone Quinn Rousek MacInnis Weissbach Pekar Oglevie Biro Scarfo Franco Warren Samuelsson Laaksonen Schuldt Fitzgerald Davidson Prow Lukkonen Dell
  20. Eichel and Dahlin
  21. Goal, 3 assists in his 1st game of the season. Sabrespace shrugs. I know why, but the lack of hype for Power is amazing. Regardless if he becomes Eric Johnson or Larry Robinson, he’s still, at worst, the 3rd best prospect this team has drafted in 30 years.
  22. Yeah, it was more about the concept than the specifics. We both know that whatever the deal ends up being you’re going to hate it and you wouldn’t have done it.
  23. Too wide a range in the bold — does that mean a Vegas 1st and Elvenes, or an LA 1st and Kaliyev? But to try and answer the spirit of your question, I would take the best offer available to me right now, load it up with as many conditionals as possible, wish Jack the best of luck with his surgery and his career, and get on with the business of rebuilding the Buffalo Sabres. People are far too invested in sunk costs here. I thinking they are putting far too much import on the size of the return and not enough on healing — both Eichel's healing and the healing of the Buffalo Sabres.
  24. If you were in Jack's position, would you get the fusion? If you were in Jack's position and felt the way he does about ADR and fusion, would you get the fusion?
  25. For those who haven't listened to the interview "depleted asset" was one in a series of observations Brisson made in a very matter-of-fact fashion as he listed off why this is a very difficult situation. I've read the same issues cited here many times and I doubt many, really any, of you would disagree with what he said.
