The Neal and Scott incidents are very good comparisons.

You know, we really haven't had a horrible game all year.
After last weeks heartbreaker basically ending the season, I suppose we should have expected this.

Scott told Kessel he was going to go after him, made a half-hearted attempt to grab him, and never threw a punch.
Thornton grabbed an unsuspecting Orpik from behind, slew footed him to the ice, and punched him repeatedly while he lay there unconscious.
You're right. Exactly the same thing.

Thing is, even if we whiff on both lotteries, there is no franchise player this year, and Eichel looks like one next year after McDavid anyway. Win or lose we should get top six forwards both years.

PJ Stock blaming Orpik, Neal and the instigator rule.

No mention of the fact that Orpik's hit was clean.
Or any attention paid to the slew foot, or the fact he attacked him from behind.

Ugly stuff going on in Boston tonight. Orpik makes a clean hit, Thornton doesn't like it, slew foots Orpik after play is stopped and then knocks him out cold while he's laying on the ice, gloves still on.

I think the only reason that clause was in there was to protect Snow if the Isles "flukily" won the lottery this year.
I don't think the thought of them "earning" a spot this high in the draft was ever on his radar. He thought they were a team on the rise.
I doubt the fact they could this bad this year AND next - a real possibility - was ever a consideration.
He never would have traded for Vanek if it was.
It will be very interesting to see what they do.

I think we've had a real coach here long enough to see what we really have now:
Miller and Enroth are a good goaltending tandem
Ott and Leino are two-thirds of a good third line
Hodgson is a second-line centre
Myers and Ehrhoff are top-four defencemen
Ennis and Moulson are complementary offensive pieces, who need to play with better players
Because of age, or lack of skill, everyone else is just a body.

SPOILERS! If you haven't made it to book 3 or through season 3. However I imagine this is how Tywin would treat Shanahan.
Charles Dance is perfection in that role.
And next season we may find out if Tywin really does sh-t gold.

I'd hire Tywin as GM... that guy get's sh!t done.
I mean come on, his father's bannermen were being disrespectful and his father was like well I better not upset them. So for years the Lannisters were not feared because Twin's father let his bannermen disrespect him. Tywin comes of age and is basically in charge and says to these guys, you can fall in line now or else. They laugh at him and treat him like his father... So what does Tywin do? He kills them. Of course not just them but their entire family. Cousins, Children, anyone who could lay a claim to their lands is killed and their castles are raised to the ground... Tywin is a scary guy. Of course and this is the spoiler part, he underestimates 1 person he shouldn't and well Tyrion is pretty badass himself now isn't he?
Shanahan would think twice about suspending Sabres, let me tell you.

I'm not arguing that we don't need a number one centre, or that we should avoid one in the draft.
I was just pointing out that Armia is the only player in the system that projects as a first or second line winger.
We have Hodgson and Grigorenko who project as top two centres.
Girgensons and Compher could also project as top two line players and were drafted as centres, but they could just as easily play on the wing.
We are loaded on defence.

Way too early, and you have to take the best player.
But the system needs a top-six winger far more than a top-six centre, or top-four defenceman.

To be clear, the "disappointing" Reinhart has 16/30/46 in 29 games.

So who should we be looking for at the WJC?
From the 2012s, Girgs is out clearly, but maybe Grigs with Russia? I think McCabe is too old.
Zadorov should be there, but it's hard to say if they will make Risto available.
Compher should get the call for the US, but Bailey, Hurley and Peterson are long shots.
Maybe Possler for Sweden? And I'm not sure if Ulmark is eligible.

I'm not advocating this, but can you imagine a defence with Myers, Ekblad, Zadorov and Ristolainen?
No one under 6'4" 220. Each one capable of being on the top-unit power play.
With stud defencemen so hard to come by, it certainly would put is in a position to trade for an elite scorer.
Also, given the relatively similar profiles of Reinhart, Dal Colle, Nylander, Draisaitl and Bennett, we are also in a great position to make a trade down with someone who really covets Ekblad.

Check my post. The Blue Jackets had to submit their decision two picks before the LA Kings selection. And they ended up choosing to defer the draft pick while the first round was going on.
I'd assume, unless it's a top three pick, that the Isles would wait as late as they can to make the decision because you never know who might fall.

Bouchard has a had a very disappointing career and is likely on his way out of the NHL.
And he can't be any worse than D'Agostini.
