I'm not dumbfounded by their lack of passing skills. I expect it. It's not like Paul Coffey and Adam Oates are on the team.

Coffey and oates..... Sounds like a delicious breakfast ;)

Nope, I don't think he'll be what anyone here would consider good. But I do still hope he scores between 55 and 75 points and the Sabres win the cup no matter how long the odds are.

I'd take between 55-75 goals, the next pavel bure, or the second coming of mike bossy. Pretty much anything more than we've seen the past couple of seasons would work too. But I think he'll be a whipping boy for a while

Finding a workout you enjoy doing is really the key. Have you tried anything like p90x or insanity? I know at least a few people who found stuff like that to be a decent midpoint between sports and traditional weights.

I tried this aerobic program called pliometrics before and it had some cool variations of step up push ups and stuff, almost sprung for the p90x but my biggest downfall is always consistency. Being on call a lot really doesn't help my already inbuilt procrastinating and inconsistent nature lol

  3. Unfortunately, the rec sports portion of my life is all but over with my most of my teams dispersing around the country. That said, I've been active in the gym since I was a freshman in high school. Nowadays I exercise 5-6 days per week. I run 2-3 miles on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday; free weights Monday-Friday and walk 2 miles on the days I don't run. Saturdays are my total recovery day where I do nothing and eat whatever I want. Works out pretty well, and it's so ingrained in my daily routine I actually get really mad when I can't make the gym.

I envy this mentality, I do it well for a few months then as soon as I make progress, boom I stop. I think its because I find lifting weights to be stressfu/added stress, and not a stress relief like a sport, but good for you for keeping a tight schedule.

  4. Play a lot of tennis and usually racquetball once a week at least. I weighed 205 when I was in the Navy down to 180 now but look smaller than my weight. Many people hate me for saying this, but I try to put weight on just to fill out a bit. I take in a lot of calories via weight gainer, etc... But I do so much cardio with the tennis I'll never get it back on... There is no way I'm getting back in shape the was I was when I was in the service... Also font have the free time I'd like.

You don't consider trading away the 2nd best D-man for a 2nd rounder to be significant?

Admittedly I only know what I read in the past few minutes.... so I don't know the exact deals of the trade other than McBain and sekera got swapped. Is sekera our 2nd best d man? And I don't know much about McBain. I guess I was just hoping for at least one of the two "big" players traded. I guess there's still time for that, but I'm glad I went out with the family today instead of watching the draft, great fireworks tonight

  6. Been out all day, decided to just check in and see what was going on. I'm a little shocked we didn't make any significant trades. I can't say I'm too pleased with this draft, not too happy with Darcy right now, but then again who really is.

I really thought the Sabres should have "gooned" it up and physically hurt the Habs. Not sure if it would have mattered but it couldn't have been worse than their original strategy.

    What was their original strategy?

And I though COHO deserved a penalty shot last night, would have been exciting to see

  8. I haven't been following too closely and I know lance used EPO, which basically boosts the oxygen affinity of red blood cells, however this is very hard to test for and as I recall is only in the body for a short period of time. How did he get caught to start all of this public disgrace?

I think it's more accurate to say Alabama (or whatever team Nick Saban coaches, really) sets the standard. LSU and Florida lost (and Florida lost to a Big East team!), South Carolina barely beat Michigan. The only teams which dominated were Alabama, TA&M, and Georgia, the rest either lost or were very close games. I will be curious to see what kind of teams Urban Meyer puts together once he has a few recruiting classes, I wouldn't put it past him to put together a team which could beat the SEC powers.

I think next year I'll be an adopted A&M fan because I think they have the best shot at unseating Saban's Alabama. Go Johnny Football!

Probably. But I still enjoy laughing at how he struggled, then chickened out and ran for the bus with the Dolphins.
A+M def has a shot next year to go all the way, as long as Manziel stays healthy; Ohio State will be back in the mix again, they always seem to do well, although im not a huge fan. I think Alabama will do OK next year, but theyll be losing some key pieces, especially the all star center.

I just wanted a game. I kind of wanted ND because it's been a while since they were cheated out of one in '93, and even longer since they won one in '88, and Alabama has had an abundance of riches since then. Plus, a few friends are diehard Irish fans. But really, I just wanted a good game.

Didn't get that good game! This is kind of like watching a Stanley Cup Finals sweep when I've got no team to love or hate and just wanted it to go seven.

I wanted a game as well. I get some good bantering out of it and won 50$ in bets. But overall the excitement was gone in the 2nd quarter

Not to mention Te'o and, possibly, Nix, who is the angriest freaking NT I've seen in college ball ever.

What the hell was that between McCarron and Jones?

  11. Ill credit ND with good wins over Stanford and Oklahoma, other than that, the quality was not too amazing. And they nearly lost several games to unranked teams.

Granted the Tide didn't have too hard of a schedule this year, I highly doubt ND would have been able to take on south Carolina or LSU.

Either way the Sec title game should be a good one, and I really just want bragging rights with a ND loss to my old pals in south bend
