I just don’t think you can have a team of passengers. That’s what the Sabres are. I guess Dahlin might not be but I find him very hard to like. Just not my style of player. If they had a Tkachuk, Jenner, Doughty, Trouba, Larkin, someone of that ilk, I’d live with Dahlin’s game.
Not sure how Dahlin doesn't fit your standards; he has a lot in common with Doughty
Also Larkin is completely different from all the rest listed.

Massive overpayment.
True, granted that proposal was a month ago

I wish terrible things for Kane and Lyon for the rest of their days, find some witch doctor, we can all pitch in.
Top line played well
Benson played well, Quinn looked awful, Cozens seemed to stop being a rumbler after his fight which is concerning.
3rd line was effectively Krebs and Skinner taking turns being relevant but never simultaneously.
4th line did its job fine.
Dahlin was great, and deserved a far better ending. Liked seeing him wreck Compher and Edvindson; I love when he shows his edge but he can't do it often seeing as he kinda has to be their best Dman in every aspect most nights
Power was ok and then he took a puck to the face
Bryson was small but ok until he took a stick to the eye
Clifton played fine
Byram was a rollercoaster of somewhat good and bad
Jokiharju, who has had a bounce back year yet again sees to crumble under pressure. Like the team itself mostly crumbles but he's like the poster child for making absolutely inexplicable plays in clutch situations. He's a reverse Justin Williams.
UPL was solid, could I complain; sure but I can't exactly fault him for giving up a goal to arguably the best American player ever.

Now we’re down to 4 D

Bryson out with an injury
Buffalo luck at its finest
Also ***** Lyon, he’s always in our way

Can someone break a Red Wings player leg, I’m sick of those bloody things blocking things no matter what we do

I think we've learned that Jokiharju has an issue with big pressure games; every time we've got to this point, he turns into mush.

I've never liked him, but you can't beat his compete and leadership. I think they went into a slight funk with the Guentzel trade. Thought management had given up on them so why bother, but he's got them out of it and I think it was all him. imo they are now the favourite for that last wildcard.
Bruins Panthers game was a playoff type game. Excellent hockey game top to bottom. Like every other year I can't wait for real playoff hockey. As of now it's also Vegas Edmonton first round or rather Eichel McDavid first round 🙂 and that too will be great entertainment and somebody going down early.
I respect Crosby, but hate him for being in our way instead of just bowing out and getting out of our way

rather realistic offseason
If Muel is unable to stay healthy I’d look to deal him.
Byram gets a defensive Dman partner which should decide if we want him around long term or not
Bryson can continue his role as a solid 7D
Girgs is back because of it’s inevitably
Get some draft picks for Jokiharju
Acquire Gourde with 2.1mil retention; only 1 year left and gives us some solid experience, defensive competence, and some skill.
Sign DeMelo for a strong defensive presence on the back end
Sign Martinhook to give a solid defensively responsible winger to go with Gourde and hopefully Skinner’s defensive woes can be covered up there.
Sign a vet extra forward for 1x1mil

There’s a practical 3 way tie for the 3rd Metro spot

Sorry @thewookie1, Torts wouldn’t tolerate 1/2 of the players on this team. Skinner, Olofsson, Joker, Bryson, Tage, Cozens, all gone.
Tage and Cozens aren't coasting, just because they don't lay out people in the corner doesn't mean they're dogging it.

Our best hope is to beat Detroit and Washington in regulation
Have both Florida and Tampa resting starters
And find a way to get at minimum a point out of Dallas.
-
One major advantage we have is we have more RWs than everyone above us and winning out would put us somewhere between 32 and 36 RW which at the max only Pittsburgh could match however we'd win on the ROW in that case since we have 2 more ROW

The Sabres are also on the other end of some lax officiating. Philly has been playing interference all night. Problem is Buffalo seems to lose their speed entirely when teams do that.

Just win and keep the dream alive!

I’d bridge him barring his ask matches Muel’s numbers more or less.

I still would like a vet #2 and let Levi keep simmering in Rochester. If the vet loses to Levi, great; if not we would still be safe.
I also somewhat think there’s a chance Tokarski is resigned as a 3/4 goalie. Since you need at least 3 goalies with NHL experience going into a year.

OMG look how far off BOTH D are from Strome! One of them has to take that guy in front.
I think part of that is due to Ovi requiring a guy to be spread wide all the time thus the net front guy ends up loose usually.

Apparently Pegula’s pride in Rochester has taken a hit.

My take: you can’t make money running an antiquated, million-year-old arena so here’s the keys to everything but the locker rooms. The arena is in desperate need of a dramatic makeover. And while I’m not a billionaire and think differently than billionaires, this sucks. The Rochester partnership won’t effect his overall wealth. Pegula opting out means he’s counting small zeros when his legacy could have made a dramatic difference to ROC.
Pegula pride? LOL nah.
But unlike “sell the team,” Rochester may not be able to afford that. Sigh.Strikes me as, I already have 1 old arena to try and update and fix; I don't want two of them while I also deal with a New and Old Bills Stadium.

Judging from this Granato quote they have already decided Levi is good to go next season after not being so, this
Cross our fingers second time’s the charm!
Well, that's annoying to say the least. I'm starting to wonder if a middle aged goalie hurt him at some point because he outright refuses to sign an experienced backup.
That and if they keep Granato they have better have given him a completely new coaching staff; aside the goalie coach and perhaps the guys who watch for offside challenges I want not one guy back.

Win out and we'll end up at DeLuca .500 which would certainly sum up this season. Mediocrity; highs and lows but we were never good enough to run or bad enough fall apart
