  1. TSN has an article up saying that if he doesn't stay in Pittsburgh, Letang wants to go to Toronto Pens want a roster player, prospect and 1st rounder for him Its one of the first times I have seen TSN being the ones saying the player wants to go to Toronto, usually its just the leaf fans there that are saying everyone wants to come play there. This time the fans are saying they don't want him.....
  2. Wasn't there something the other day that the NHL said that the buyouts can not be used on a player you acquire now? I.E. You can't trade someone so they can be bought out by another team?
  3. Whats so wrong with that?I would be happy if they atleast had one line that might be the best in the league then a roster of "mediocre at best" Atleast the team will have a bright spot and something to look forward too
  4. They could just leave it and wait til it freezes, then play next season on a much larger rinkProblem is I doubt they like the idea of the lost revenue from 10 rows being under the new ice surface.....
  5. Any word if Thomas will be coming out of retirement? Toronto could still go after Bryz and sign him cheap if he is willing to go there and compete with Bernier, then Toronto can trade Reimer for assetts since they don't seem to be high on him as their starter. I know many disagree because we are being told Bernier will be the next big thing, but I think right now they only thing that Toronto upgraded in that deal was Hype/Potential. Bernier has not proven anymore then what they already had in Reimer and Scrivens. Bernier or Reimer may be a bit of an upgrade over Scrivens as the #2 goalie, but I think right now reimer has the experience and has proven he can be a decent/dependable #1 who would look much better with a better defence and less pylons in Phaneuf jerseys in front of him. They gave up a good backup who could get better and become a starter along with a decent prospect and a pick, for a high hype/potential goalie with less experience then their current starter. Nice way to thank reimer for helping you get to the point of almost knocking off the team that would end up one game and 1 minute 15 seconds away from another cup
  6. Pegulas PLan is all coming crystal clear and coming together now! He said he wanted to bring multiple cups to Buffalo, but did he explain how? And did he also say the Sabres would be the ones doing it? Right now he is probably on the phone with Kane to get the Cup to make an appearance outside the arena, and as an added bonus he also can say he brought the Conn Smythe too to Buffalo!
  7. Classy GM, Classy Organisation, Classy City............ This was obvious from the beginning, and when they traded for mason, and when they traded for Streit and agreed to a deal when they have no cap space to complete the deal............... The Sabres would ahve to take on alot of salary in order for the Flyers to have any cap room to take on Miller and his salary
  8. I would take him cause he's a local Welland boy who would be coming closer to home in Buffalo. (Would also take Horton, Girardi, Bissonette and even Paille back too) For all those saying no to Cal because he is a 3rd liner, this team needs more then just guys for the top of the roster. Theres nothing wrong getting more grittier guys for the bottom too, guys that are there now under contract can be used as parts of trades for picks or in addition to others to improve the top of the roster. Goalie market could get interesting, but I have my doubts it will be interesting for Sabres fans cause I think that they are the only ones who actually believe that Darcy will be actively tying to move Miller, plus I think the teams interested in someone like him are teams that would be on his list of teams he won't accept a trade to. Its doubtful he wants to become a Flame, Islander, or Blue jacket. The Flyers may be one of the teams he might accept a deal too, but I doubt they will be able to get enough cap room to get him. Theres alot of options out there right now for goaltenders that won't cost as much as Miller, but they are much bigger risks that the guy your getting pans out and can reach a level that Miller has the ability to play to
  9. Apparently from what i understood when I googled it this morning, the 2 buyouts that the teams get this year (only one for Montreal and NYR since they were given permission to use one this year to free their 2 guys stuck in the minors) only differ from a typical buyout by the teams not having to take the cap hit to do it. So basically, the Islanders could use a regular buyout for Dipietro so that they keep the big cap hit over a few years and only pay a portion of his salary.
  10. Yup, thanksI went to google to check it out after I posted it and found that out.
  11. Actually, a buyout of Dipietro might be the better option for the cheap team. Instead of burying him in the minors and paying his full contract, they can buy him out paying a portion of it instead of the full thing. Only thing is they may be the only ones to petition the league to let it all continue to count against their cap..... Now just to be clear, do the buyouts count against the cap for the teams or is it that these 2 buyouts won't count towards the cap?
  12. What if they allow them to remove their hockey helmet and visor, but then have to put on one of those amateur boxing/wrestling headgear things to protect their heads? Maybe make them put on a face visor too? They could also introduce a new area in the corner of the rink where players could be ushered over to if they want to fight that could be padded to prevent further injury, or have ropes like a wrestling ring. The Sabres could have the Celino & Barnes (or Corruba Collision) Fight Zone......
  13. Does Maclean have that many years left on this earth to wait that out?
  14. I can't see top 10, but he will stay a starter As for JVR, it was a move to unite the Schenn brothers in Philly.........
  15. Looking at his past, he seems like MANY goalies that he can be streaky. I think he will probably end up as a decent starter in the league, a guy who won't single handidly win you many games, but not a sieve thats going to cost you many either. The type of goalie that on a good team is enough to be a playoff team and maybe go a few rounds. Philly lacks any patience, but I assume thats mostly because their wind of opportunity is closing very rapidly with all the aging vets and big contracts they have on the roster.
  16. Does it really matter if he still views that as being a no goal? Its hardly the Stars fault that the refs blew it. What were they going to do, tell the refs and the league that they also agree with Lindy and they should go back out there and keep playing instead of just taking the win and the cup? it was funny to hear/see Doug Maclean on one of Sportsnets hockey shows going off on how he couldn't believe the Rangers went with Av and not Ruff, and how Ruff was passed over....
  17. I'd like to see if he can do it again, its not like a player has ever had one good season to win the vezina and never heard from again (See Carrey, Jim and I'm not talking about Ace Ventura) But no matter what, I totally agree with teh Philly is Stupid part.......
  18. The Flyers seem to be interested in everyone, yet they have no cap space to actually get themIts also being rumored/reported that the are one of the front runners (along with Toronto, its apparently between the 2 of them right now) to get Bernier this offseason from the Kings
  19. What other GM in teh League is Dumb enough to take that contract off their hands? At thedeadline last year they traded for a goalie, they picked up 24 year old Steve Mason from Columbus
  20. Can't argue with you here either, I have been saying that for years Chiarelli didn't know Don Cherry already? I figured he would have met one of Bostons former big name coaches............. Enroth would have made that save...................Too bad the US used a mediocre overpaid goaltender when they could have had just about anybody.............. Its another situation where no one had any idea about this until a writer went and dug deeper to find somethingIts not like it was known before hand that O'reilly would have to clear waivers first and he went ahead and did it.
  21. Quebec, Markham, etc all need a venue for the team to play in first. Seattle has an old arena it can use for the first season or 2 until the new arena is built for the NBA team (and NHL team) they are trying to get. The new arena for what is rumored to be the new home of the Sacremento Kings of the NBA in Seattle is supposed to be a Basketball/hockey venue. Right now I think any new relocation in the next year or 2 goes to Seattle or KC. Once Quebec and markham have their facilities, then tehy may stand a chance at getting a franchise. The NHL prefers that you have a venue to play in prior to having the team relocate, its why they finally gave Winnipeg the Jets back, the MTS Centre was built and ready for them to come back before they went after a team.
  22. Not really arguing with what you just said As for the bolded part, are you really losing the trade if it means you get a cup out of it?
  23. Canadians and Bruins have given their fans something to cheer for. Buffalo, Florida and Tampa have not.
  24. So when he does it its not throwing them under the bus, gotcha
  25. Thats part of my point, this team shouldn't be in sell mode/cap problems, but they are because of incompetenceThe paying of Gerbe is not a problem in my eyes, he isn't making enough for it to be an issue that would cause cap problems. The issue with McCormicks and Pardys salary is that they are in Rochester, not in Buffalo. As for Leo, completly agree
