Yeah but he’s giving up some juicy rebounds. Hopefully they can cash in on one of them soon

Jacob Bryson has played in 6 games this season:
10/29/2023 vs COL, Sabres win 4-0
11/1/2023 @ PHI, Sabres win 5-2
11/4/2023 @ TOR, Sabres win 6-4
1/24/2024 @ LAK, Sabres win 5-3
1/27/2024 @SJS, Sabres win 5-2
2/13/2024 vs LAK, Sabres win 7-0Is Bryson the best defenseman we have? Of course not. But has the team lost any games with him on the roster? No. Bryson on the roster is not to be feared. I'm not sure why. Maybe he plays with a little more desperation than Power. There was talk in the preseason that Bryson had beefed up so he could play with some more jam. Maybe at 26 he's hitting his stride as a defenseman. We're always talking about how it takes several years for young defense prospect to mature.
This might be a correlation vs causation type situation with Bryson. Even in games they won earlier this season I remember Bryson looking pretty bad in a few of them. I didn’t see the last two games he played though. Looks like he is getting significantly more minutes which means the coaches are trusting him more, or just needed him to eat up more minutes with Powers out…

Maybe he should stop hiring piss-poor GM’s and he wouldn’t have to?
Or a president of hockey operations that isn’t willing to be a yes man for his wife/management team. When can we stop pretending these hockey doofs ran this team into the ground?

How does Granato still have a job?

This is bad for Mule, good for Ryan Johnson. Ryan projects to be the same kind of dman as Mule, so he should be able to pick up some of these assignments. I think he has such a high defensive awareness for a young player he could surprise us all if he gets another 3-4 minutes a game.

Dahlin in the final game for 1 milly. It’s been a fun watch so far. Bob at 35 years old still looks great out there. Made a couple brilliant saves in the first 5 min.

Looks like Mittelstadt is sick of this Loser mentality If only we had more players with his attitude.
I'm sure they're doing some great bonding in cabo drinking Everyday
Is that why, or is it because he’s in a contract year?

Yep, and it starts at a young age. Student athletes get away with far too much in terms of personal conduct if they're exceptionally talented.
Or their parents are connected. We had this happen in Niagara Country a few years ago. Hockey/Rugby player, both parents lawyers. Truly a disgusting family with no remorse or accountability.

Sabres have 34 games left, including this one. Luckily there are a lot of underperforming teams in the East this year. My back-of-the-napkin calculations estimate the last wildcard slot for the eastern conference will need at least 94pts, which means the Sabres will need to win 24 of those games. Another way to look at it is they can only afford to lose 10 or less games. That said, they need these 2pts today before the All-Star break so they can come back with a full head of steam to close out the season at a 5 win for every 7 game rate.

Notice how calm 6K looks in every one of those saves....
That is a great point and something I hadn’t noticed.
Earlier in the season he looked like he was making so many extra unnecessary moves that caused him to react late to the actual shot…

Another Buffalo Sabres loss. The bottom line is this Sabres core of Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, Dylan Cozens aren’t good enough. In the offseason the Sabres need a major block buster trade like when the Sabres moved Jim Schoenfeld, Danny Gare, Derek Smith and Bob Sauve to the Detroit Red Wings in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo
It’s not the players. We have good players. They just don’t know what they are suppose to do out there. This group is an underachieving joke of a team. They should be ashamed of this effort. But they don’t have anyone telling them that because then someone might be held accountable. Can we all stop pretending these players are the problem because once we trade promising players away, 9/10 they have a successful career.

As long as the boys don't confuse effort with results, I’m not too displeased with today’s performance.
Did we not watch the same game or is the bar that low for this team? That effort was *****, that coaching was *****, this team is embarrassing.

lol, I meant Donny. But at this point I don’t want any Granato near this team

What is the Sabres game plan? I e been here for the first 50minutes and I still don’t know what they are trying to do. This sucks
-
Sabres looked like lazy trash the first 5 but bounced back the next 10-12, and then looked average the last 3 min. They need to come out hot for the 2nd

I thought players had to wear a helmet in warmup or get fined, but Tuch, and three Canuck’s aren’t wearing a bucket…

Maybe Adams is genius. If both UPL and Levi round out into above average goalies it will be like KA was right all along.
Idk about genius. We may have seen a better version UPL this year if Adam’s didn’t run a 3 goalie rotation for almost half the season.
Still nowhere close to sold on UPL, but it’s also hard to have a definitive opinion on a goalie playing behind this defensive system.

Lots of fisticuffs in the Devils/Hawks game tonight. Things got chippy when Connor Bedard was knocked out of the game in the first period...he may have taken a shoulder to his chops and has not returned.
The Foligno-Smith fights were such fake fights. I could tell Foligno was just postering because those were the most…let’s call them… “cautious” punches thrown I’ve seen in a tilt from a “tough guy.” 100% Folingo was only thinking about his paycheck, and that he didn’t want to get lambasted like Reaves did in TO.

It was nice that they played well enough so Levi could win in his Montreal ice debut.
Not to be a Donny downer, but this is one of the reasons why I’m not very excited about this win. This team is an above average team when they show up and compete. Last night it was Levi’s first game in Montreal, before that it was to “be there for Donny” or because they wanted to step it up to beat a top team. Otherwise they win one, and then take the next game or two off.
The Penguins are 7-2-1 in the last 10. If the Sabres come out and play a solid 60 on Saturday night it may give me some hope they turned the corner on the season. If they lose bad or give a half-hearted effort, well, it’s just more par for the course with Donny Meatballs at the helm…

If this disaster of a season truly comes down to a lack of effort from the players then this team can go ***** themselves.
It looks like that from the outside at least. I was at the Colorado game earlier this year and they looked amazing. Later that week I went to the Philly game and left during the second period it was such an awful effort. I can’t remember the last game I left early for, no matter what the score was…
12 hours ago, Thorny said:It’s not effort. That we “try less” than other teams is a myth. A bandaid narrative. It could be system related partially but the good games against good teams are a function of the mathematical reality of an 82 game season and the fact good teams play down to lesser opponents
Seems like semantics, but whether they try less, or don’t try as hard, it’s literally the coaches job to prepare them for the game, and to make necessary changes throughout the game to get them going.

Power would likely have been healthy scratched a few weeks in. We also would have seen him get more like 13-16minutes instead of the 20+ every night. We need a coach that isn’t afraid of his players getting upset with him.

Sabres’ Refusal to “Salute” Fans Confirmed

Once tickets start going for under $25 a game I’m going to go and boo every poor effort.
Not because it’s my right and not because they aren’t making the playoffs for a 13th year. I’m going to go and boo poor efforts because for some reason this NHL team doesn’t have a coach willing to tell these players their effort isn’t good enough and you should be mad, you should be embarrassed, and if you don’t like it to get your ass back out there and do something about it.
