    The cult will not relax. I’m not lying when I made the comparison to the Doug Flutie cult.

    In what other scenario does someone take a banner to a game for a head coach on a losing hockey team?

    And of the team wins Lindy gets a credit. And if the team loses it’s those loser players and that loser GM who are standing in the way of Lindy‘s glory.

    And it is all we will hear.

    Odd comments from a guy who created two message boards for people that are passionate about the Bills and Sabres.

    Also, being a Lindy Ruff fan in NO WAY compares to the Flutopians.

    I literally have no idea who you mean. Can’t be anyone from the last half of a decade.

    Hint: One of them has since won a Stanley Cup, and his initials are Zach Bogosian.

  3. We had at least two guys that would have done something . . . and they are two guys that some here and on WGR never liked and are no longer on the team. You can guess who they are.

    There have been 4 players all season who have played with effort every night.  Their names are Dahlin, Mittelstadt, Benson and Peterka.  Injuries have slowed a few key guys (TNT, Cozens and Tuch), but their efforts have been lacking many nights when they are in the lineup.   Outside Dahlin, the other D have been consistently inconsistent.

    It's time to make a change in the leadership.  Time to trade KO and let him hook up with a team heading to the playoffs.  It's also now time to make this Dahlin's team.  He is the team's best player, most consistent contributor, and toughest competitor.

    You are questioning the effort of someone who had a life threatening (or at least quality of life threatening) injury while playing for our team and is universally respected by his teammates?!?

    Hmmm.

  5. I was fortunate to be at the game. I have not had a chance to read most of the comments in this thread.

    A few observations:

    - It was great to see and meet a lot of Sabres fans at the game;

    - The way the Sabres break out of our zone is one of the most impressive aspects of the game (especially compared to how we could not seem to do that effectively and consistently for so many years prior to DG);

    - I was worried that the Sabres would have trouble on the back end of this road back-to-back against two tough teams especially after the emotional overtime win against Tampa Bay AND the Panthers having four days rest. The Sabres did not seem to have any issue in this regard. They played with a lot of energy and as Ed Jovanovski said in the Panthers post game show, the Sabres played an excellent road game.

    Great wins against the Panthers and Lightning. Well done.

  6. Another way of looking at is:

    How would the players react if they did NOT give it to Kyle and gave it to someone else?

    Anybody who has been paying attention knows how the players think of Kyle. They look at him as the captain and that he has earned it. If they were to give the C to someone else, I suspect players would have viewed it as giving it to someone who is less deserving.*

    *As I wrote up thread, I really like Tuch. I also really like Rasmus and Z. I am sure they would all be good in their own way, but KO has earned it more than they at this point. As I also wrote above, Kyle literally risked his long term health for this team. His leadership ability and his devotion to the team earn him the right to be have the C.

    I’m not sure how anyone came to any other conclusion after listening to ever player, coach and Sabres related personnel.  They have praised KO leadership endlessly.  For some reason, because Tuch goes to Bills games and tells stories about how he was a fan growing up meant he had some sort of inside track on the C.

    I love Tuch, but for the reasons you set forth and the fact that KO literally risked his long term health for this team, the decision is a no brainer. As you say, all one has to do is listen to how the players talk about KO.

    Great choice and well deserved!

    Baker was on Sabres Live all night with Duffer and Marty.

    I guess he was busy. Thanks for letting me know. I figured that he lives for a day like today.

    What were his takes on the guys that we drafted?
