  1. Well now thats what a small, fast, well coached, playing a system team with solid goal tending, veteran leadership, that bury's their chances looks like.

Montreal is really playing well now.

Bflo on the other hand is showing they can only compete with middle road teams.

Well Darcy, how do you like them now? a month from now ? two months from now ? I hope I can just at least try and enjoy them this season as a entertaining hockey team.

    But the Rangers...

  2. LOL

Less than 1 minute before they get their 2nd. I'm thinking Montreal is not nearly as frustrated as you hope they are. :D

I can't get any deeper so I may as well go for broke - The Sabres will come back and win this game in overtime on a shot by Pominville from the top of the right circle.

  3. Darcy? How about all the posters that laughed when the Habs turned over their roster?

I remember them. They were the same ones that laughed at Labialet in Philly.

I still think this is one of those games the we will win because Miller will frustrate Montreal until we score.

  4. Just for shits and giggles:

Stanley Cup winners' record on December 1, last 10 seasons:

    Chicago 17-6-3

    Pittsburgh 14-6-3

    Detroit 18-6-2

    Anaheim 19-2-6

    Carolina 16-7-1

    Tampa Bay 11-4-4-1

    New Jersey 13-6-1-1

    Detroit 22-4-1-1

    Colorado 18-4-3-0

    New Jersey 12-6-3-2

Just a reality check, Jack. Lindy said this team was a contender, and the franchise's oft-stated goal is to win a Cup. The standard must be held a lot higher than squeaking into eighth place.

Boy, that sure is a bucket of cold water dumped over the head.

Maybe Lindy just needs to find more podiums to pound his fist on.

  5. It's getting harder and harder to justify coming back to this site every day. I'm soo sick of reading all you goon's posts about how the Sabres are "already out of playoff contention," or how they can't lose a game for the rest of the year just to compete for the 8th spot. To be honest, I wish you'd all just shut the ###### up about playoffs for now, because it's NOVEMBER and the Sabres are FOUR POINTS (not FORTY) out of a playoff spot. I don't know what kind of math you guys are doing to establish that the Sabres can't make up FOUR POINTS in 50+ games, but it just needs to stop. I think I'd rather sacrifice the two points and have the Sabres lose tonight as long as it means all you morons would quit posting -- because after all, a loss tonight means we can't qualify for playoffs, right? So I'll be looking forward to talking to you guys again in June.

I mean seriously... all you people who think it's some fresh new original idea to sit there and say your team can't make playoffs after roughly 1/4 of the season, just TAKE A STEP BACK and think out loud if you have to. This team will make up 4 points, 6 points, 8 points with ease. Teams like Toronto, Atlanta, Ottawa -- they aren't going to be perfect the rest of the year. They'll have their losing streaks just like we did to start the season. There is NOTHING to worry about, and yet every day the discussion is the same here... a bunch of drones trying to look smart by buying into the whole "sabres can't make playoffs" lunacy.

anyway talk to you folks later, go sabres

I actually don't care about the 2 or 4 or 6 points. I just want to see them play some good hockey. Heck, for tonight I'll take just seeing them score a single goal,.. baby steps.

  6. Every move Regier makes is consistent with the M.O. that he has had since he started here.

Here are the Sabres after the quarter season mark sitting seven games under .500 and four teams sitting between them and a playoff spot. Those teams all happen to have games in hand as well. The Panthers, one point behind the Sabres, have 3 games in hand as do the Leafs who are tied with the Sabres with 19 points. The hole may not seem deep. When you have to climb over five teams to get out it is a bit more daunting.

Let's also not forget that the teams we have to climb over to get out have their starting goaltenders actually starting for them. oof.

  7. Did Roy get hurt or was he benched at all tonight? Looking at the ice time stats, he finished with 15:17, less than Gaustad and Stuart, and almost on par with Gerbe. Something's not right when the team's leading scorer plays less than the grinders in a 1-0 game.

    He got hurt.

  8. Was that Sekera that was stripped of the puck in the corner for the pens lone goal? That was real weak.

He coughed it up like a tuberculosis-ridden prostitute in 1850s Oklahoma.

The score was 1 to ZERO! Was that play really the problem? I'm so tired of hearing about Sekera. He is and will be a very good defenseman. And in case you didn't realize it, it was Sidney Crosby that stripped him. As much as I hate him, I have to say that he is the best ###### hockey player there is today.

    Again, we scored 0 goals.

  9. Well guys, we can talk til we're blue in the face about the effort tonight or how close we were to scoring. The bottom line, however, is that the team has won 8 out of 23 games this season.

I'm not burying them or anything, but it's starting to feel like we're not watching a playoff team here.

Starting to?

They haven't looked like a playoff team since free agency started this Summer. :wallbash:

  10. Not a fan of the boos. Remember when Pommers had the highest shooting % on the team? Whatever happened to that guy??

Not a fan of the boos, huh? What's the problem? Were they not loud enough? They weren't for me. Even with Miller in net they would have had to score at least one goal to win. This team is not very good and those 2 points they need to get to make the playoffs are not going to be easy to get.
