When you win games it's easy to pick out who's doing well and who's doing good. We'll see now who's desperate, who can come and work hard. -TV.

"Management has a strategy here and the contracts show that. This team is maturing, but it doesn't come easily and we have to work at it. There's a need for the guys in our dressing room to realize it's up to us and we have to get the job done this year."
-
"I love our team and I love our players," Mair said. "When you look at the young players we've signed to long-term contracts, you can see that Darcy and upper management believe in those players. It would go against the plan to deviate and start bringing in new players because we missed the playoffs by two points.

"If you asked everybody what the truth was they'd say they were pretty tired and zoned out from the road trip," Miller said. "But we grinded one out."
-
"I've been [ticked] off for weeks, months," Miller said. "I don't think we've been playing well enough for a long time. We've been getting away with it. I don't know. We just need to get our act together and it could have started tonight. But we got rattled." -Ryan Miller

"Name me a team that's won a series and blew two leads and has gone 0-for on the power play," Sabres right wing Jason Pominville said. "You're probably not going to find one."

"There's no excuse with that," Connolly said. "I was fine, pretty much pain free. It was terrible, terrible play."

“Whatever I have to I’m going to do it to the highest of my ability with passion and everything involved in that, I think,” Kaleta said. “I can be a person to push that on a few more people and hold that responsibility factor that we’ve been talking about the past couple of years. I think I can be a leader on the team.”
-
"It is a relief," Vanek said. "I feel like I've been in front of the net, especially on the power play, gotten good tips and nothing seems to get in. Finally I got one bounce and was able to put it away. It felt good."
-
"You hear them, you see them, you feel the excitement and you build on it," Sabres forward Mark Mancari said. "I've wanted to be up here for a long time, and to be in this battle is amazing. Guys are playing unbelievable from the goalie on out, so this is some fun hockey."

Ruff said, "We like the fact that nobody wants to pick us, so the more of you guys that don't pick us, the better it is for us. There a believe out there that 'they weren't that good', I think we can be better and I think we have some individuals that will be better. We've got some guys that have made some tremendous strides.

You look at Ennis who that we feel with a good camp, can turn in to a pretty special player, so there's some good things going on plus the fact that we got Myers, we got our goalie who obviously won in his position." said Ruff.

“We can talk as much as we want – new leadership, new guys,” Vanek said. “But I think the guys that have been here, myself included, for a long time need to step up and do more. I’ve said it before. If we don’t make it far, it’s on myself, it’s on us. You can’t just bring in new guys and think they’re going to fix things.”

"This team has had a slower start, but if you look at them in terms of stats, I think they’re [third] in the league in shots for, which means they’re a major threat offensively," Boucher said. "Miller is back now, so he’s maybe the best goalie in the league. If you look at the motivation they’ve got, especially lately, they’ve got two games in hand on Carolina. If they win those two...
