  1. Crosby was almost in fake tears when he was called on that penalty. I heard somewhere that he was enrolled over the Summer in Tom Brady's "How To Whine and Get a Call" seminar. Obviously it was just a refresher course. Okposo made a really nice shot to score the tying goal. Quinn made a better play with his pass to him. Criticize Anderson for not stopping the Penguins 3rd goal because of the angle but his positioning was almost perfect. There was about 2" worth of room for that puck to go in. Skinner was stupid to go high with the crosscheck. Pull a Brier and give Guentzel what he gave Ovenchkin.
  2. This kind of play by the team in general tends to motivate even the players who have only been just putting in their time.
  3. The Sabres have really stepped up their passing and doing it quicker than lightning. They have been relentless too.
  4. That wasn't my doing. It just appeared on its own.
  5. When players around the league watch that kind of play they'll be calling their agents and asking them to take the Sabres off their no trade lists.
  6. This kind of offensive pressure keeps the dreaded Penguins on defense and out of the Sabre's zone.
  7. That line has garnered my attention in many instances because of the pressure they put on their opponents and control of play in the offensive zone. Sometimes I only have one eye on the game from 30' away from the TV and don't immediately know who's on the ice. Virtually in every instance when I recognize who is on the ice I end up saying to myself "if only they had hands and could finish". Also Girgenson seems to have had a few shorthanded breakaways and has perfected accurately hitting the goalie's chest.
  8. DG seems to be leaving no stone unturned to find a way to get the best out of his young players. Putting Krebs with two leaders with a lot of grit may show him what he has to do to make it in the NHL. Shaq Lawson, who was a first round pick of the Bills a few years back recently stated when he returned this year that he had learned a valuable lesson while he was away. He basically stated that being a 1st round pick was not a guarantee of anything and that no matter a person's draft status or contract, putting everything into your game was necessary to excel. Those of us who have a little (or a lot) of gray in our beards will remember the tremendous transformation of first overall pick Bruce Smith. He looked like a JAG in his first year but after making a real commitment to giving his all to the game became arguably the best all time DE in football with more sacks than anyone in history. Talent without hard work doesn't mean jack.
  9. Give the former "Toilet Brush" some slack. He has obviously come here to bare his soul and place his personality and acumen on full display. Unless you and the rest of this board would be willing to use your profile picture to brag about the day you graduated from middle school you have no right to criticize him. Not many people have the kind of persistence to work until they're 28 to finally get their diploma, with gold stars to boot. In addition, he obviously accomplished all of this without English being his first language. As a society, we need to have compassion for those that find it impossible to make contributions. Mark my words, there will come a day that he says something bordering on the intelligent.
  10. That Pittsburgh team, arriving a tad early for the annual Tux For Pucks game.
  11. You are not only being trolled but you are putting your lack of knowledge regarding the Sabres on full display.
  12. Something to consider: While I haven't done the figures it seems like many here lament the fact (or perception) that our 3rd pair on D seem to be our main downfall defensively. If that's the case then the problems might not stem from the system or offensive style but it could simply be because of the skill of our bottom pair of defensemen. Back when Bryson and Pilut were new to the Sabres I thought that both of them showed promise and that down the line Bryson could be a nifty puck moving D guy. In retrospect I think that I was fooled only because of who I was comparing them with. My guess is that I thought they were better than what they actually were only because they were the tallest midgets on D. Having this team at this point in time pull back on their offense seems premature unless they are protecting a lead late in a game. Even doing that should be predicated on their opponent, amount of lead and other conditions that might affect the game. They are still finding their identity and although their offense appears very potent they are close but not even 1/3 into the season yet. Most people here agree that the team needs help on defense and goaltending. Waiting for Levi or Portillo to (hopefully) turn into good NHL goalies is an unnecessary gamble. The Sabres can afford to make a GT move and also pick up a defenseman or two to shore up this team. The big question isn't the contract cost to do this but what it will cost in players or draft picks to pull it off. If they can make these moves and do so within their overall short and long term plan then doing so is a no brainer. At this time GMKA may even be trying to do these very things but has to hold his cards close to his vest to not weaken his negotiating position. We don't and shouldn't know what he's working on. He's told us in general terms what their plans are and anything more would lessen his effectiveness and ability to do his job.
  13. Reminds me of the old Oiler teams when Grant Fuhr was letting in 4 goals a game but was considered a great GT because he always stopped the "important ones".
  14. No problem. If a vote was taken here you would be voted as the most pessimistic person on this board. That's my prediction. 😀
  15. While the screen was frozen for a little more than the 1st period I got see Tage's stats vs. Johnny G's. Prior to tonight Tage had 34 points. He now has what, 41? That's 2/3 of the way through his 26th game of the year. Extended out to a full season that's somewhere around 130 points.
