That is an impossible ask. And you know that.

But the point isn’t about players who failed to “fully develop” in junior hockey. The point is that players who are clearly in need of a bigger challenge can’t get it because of a rule that denies them the opportunity. Yes, Savoie is going to spend considerable more time in Rochester next year, where he has shown he already belongs, but his progress as a pro hockey prospect will have been hindered in the meantime because he would be that much farther along is allowed to compete in the A vs men as opposed to teenagers.

Would Kulich be better off in juniors and more fully developed if he were forced to return to that level at 19 years of age?

While I mostly agree with you, a 19-year-old 5'9" player may well be better off gaining strength off-ice while playing against teenagers than getting rocked for 72 games in the A against 25-year-olds with no way to the NHL other than being hard-nosed players. In the end, Savoie isn't going to be ruined playing in the CHL this year, and it helps the Sabres by delaying the start of his pro contract timeline.

I just turned 61 and have accepted that my knee will never be 100% again but I keep riding anyway.

I hear you, lol. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on a sale full suspension MTB, or decide that I'm too old for that and just keep riding my rigid Surly around on the easy stuff. Riding the Surly on the rocks and roots in my late-40s got me into this mess, lol.

Chef's is another thing that was around when I lived in Buffalo but we never went.  There were too many good Italian restaurants in Cheektowaga.  Roma's (mentioned upthread) was one- everything there was homemade (I know, because when I worked there, I made it).  A lot of people liked Baraci's/Baracini's on Union Road.  And there were others.  My mom's family is from Lackawanna and I still have family there; we've been to Ilio DiPaolo's (or however it's spelled) and I remember that being pretty good too.

I went to Chef's *once* when my dept head at the big G took us out a "safety lunch" ("listen up, everyone be safe"). I don't remember it being good or bad, but it was 25+ years ago. It was free however.

Question for the Buffalo Expats, how often do you come back to visit?

Every few months; it's a 3-hour drive now and both my and MsPie's parents are there.

Anchor Bar- Any of them, the food at least to me is vastly overrated and over priced (Like everything now a days but still).

Buffalo Wild Wings- Shouldn't it just be Wild wings here? Also a place that not only I felt the food was meh but it got me sick twice and i havent gone back to it since 1997.

The Goo Goo Dolls- I was never a fan of the music, I never got what the hype was about but it was always "hey they're from Buffalo, Ny".

I thought I was going to get through the thread and be the first to mention how irrelevant the Goos are to me.

Buffalo Wild Wings is actually out of Minnesota and is just slightly closer to REAL wings than KFC is.  (It's not QUITE that bad, but it is a huge step down from Bar-Bill, Duff's, Elmo's, the Gate, Union Pub, ...)  If you spend enough on advertising, people will buy anything.

I thought the story is it was Buffalo expats, and originally it was Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck. ... Well, I was half-right: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Wild_Wings

They decided to open their own restaurant, selecting a location near the Ohio State University in Columbus. The "Weck" in the original title refers to beef on weck, a sandwich originally served at the restaurant.[5]

Dumb, yes.  Dumbest?  Hardly.  Heck, it probably isn't even the dumbest thing said on just this board today.

Calling shutout and 2 assists for 6k now

    😉

I looked it up, I think there have been 44 2-point nights for G in NHL history, and one 3-point night, Jeff Reese, Calgary Flames, 02/10/1993, SJS 1 @ CGY 13. Sabres had three, Darren Puppa had 2, Ryan MIller 1. Tom Barasso and Grant Fuhr also have 3 and 2, respectively but not as Sabres.

Why don't we just use names? Seems so silly.

Only if we put a -stein filter in for misspellings.

6K? I dunno, but we'll find out of the next few weeks since Comrie is out. He's shown flashes before but always comes back to his normal level. He's still young, but to me, as a highlight-watcher he seems slow to react to anything other than straight-on shots.

For that matter, Levi seems to give up big rebounds and loses the puck too, but maybe that's because I only see the best chances and goals.

The thing is... depending on how he is with his personal finances he may never have to work again.

Exactly. He made more in his stint with the Sabres than I'll likely make in my lifetime. As long as he's smart about it, he can do whatever he wants. I logged into Golf Social Media (LinkedIn) and he didn't turn up, but then again neither does Adams. I guess for the Hockey Industry, you know everyone already so posting about synergy and best-of-breed processes isn't really required.

Doesn't D4rk rock one of those at times?

Ooh, could be. But it wasn't him (at least I'm fairly sure). Looked like a local since he was hanging out in one of the booths. I was going to complement him, but he was having a conversation and I didn't want to be rude.

Nice to get the win, of course.

Gratifying to see Davis and Shakir step up (to say nothing of Kincaid). It seems clear that Allen prefers the up-tempo 11 personnel approach - where he gets to the line quickly and figures out what he wants to get into based on what the D is showing. So I hope to stick with that.

Speaking of which: It seems like another personnel/roster architecture error by Beane to tee up more 12 personnel for his QB who seems to thrive in 11. (The other major error being Elam - why, why, why fall in love with a guy's measurables when he's a consensus bad fit for your coach's scheme?)

Also, yes - this is a wildcard team.

I wonder if JA calling plays at the line is an endorsement, or a repudiation of Dorsey.

their games seem pretty spaced out compared to the Sabres...guess 10 less games per season help with that

If you look at the schedule, they play almost no Monday (1), Tuesday (0), or Thursday (2) games all season. Lots of Wed, Fri, Sat. A few Sunday (4) in March and April. I'd guess almost always on the same 3 days of the week makes it easier for people to find the games and watch. But it means they're often playing 3 games in 4 nights, with a 3 day break after.
