  1. I have the Nexus 5X on T-Mo and love it, but unfortunately (as you probably already know) you can't finance it through them, so the cost is higher than your budget.  The Nexus 5 is still a great phone (I gave mine to my dad after 2 years and he's quite happy with it), but you may want to wait a couple of weeks to see if it's going to get the next OS update.  Rumors are that Android 7 / N (Nougat) will be released next month, and hard to say whether the N5 will get it or not, but Marshmallow (6) is still very solid if not.

    Good info.  Thanks!

  2. I've been really happy with my Nexus 5X on Google's Project Fi. Having access to two different towers (T-Mobile and Sprint), and the flexibility of their data plan, has allowed me to have an excellent phone on a service that costs me less than $40/mo if I can keep my data usage down. I can't image having a phone that puts me in the price range you're looking at, but if you want to spend a little more per month Project Fi has been very good to me. I'll never go back to the major carriers.

I've looked into Project Fi briefly, but I have 6 lines on T-mobile and only pay around $135/month for everything.  Not sure I can swing that on Project Fi.

  3. So, I'm in the market for a new phone, and have about a $175 budget.  I'm with T-Mobile, so I could finance a new one, but to keep my bill within my budget, I'm looking at $10 or less per month.  This limits me to the Galaxy J7, Galaxy On5, LG K10, LG K7, or LG G4 (refurb). Nothing too spectacular.

I'm looking at a refurb Nexus 5, which I can get in my budget, just buying it outright  Would it be a better option to go with a new, mid-range phone, or an older Nexus?  Any input is welcome!

  4. They didn't deserve to be in it and they didn't deserve to win it.  France was by far better.  End of discussion.

Agree 100%.  Portugal, and CR7 in particular, were woeful in the group stages.  The game against Austria was awful.  Just awful.  Austria was all over the place and easily one of the biggest flops in the tournament, and CR7 couldn't buy a goal.  To say he carried the team through the tournament and they were deserving to be the champs is bullcrap.  They got lucky.  They dominated no one and advanced through the tournament by the skin of their teeth, with the exception of the game against Wales.  Pepe and Nani carried Portugal, not CR7.

  5. Seems like there are quite a few sports that aren't very entertaining unless the participants do something wrong, though. NASCAR (and auto racing in general) is kinda dull unless people are crashing; soccer unless teams are giving up tons of chances; golf unless drives are into the gallery, etc.

It's not just based on shoddy defence or mistakes though... The game was played at a quicker, more attack-oriented pace. Even the games in the Copa where one team just parked the bus and faced an onslaught were entertaining.  Too many games in the Euros seemed like both teams were parking the bus, waiting for the other team to gift wrap an opportunity.  The Chile/Argentina final (horrible officiating and all) was far more entertaining than France/Portugal... no bias!   :P

  6. Puma EvoSpeeds. I tried some fancier shoes on but didn't like em as much. I just needed something to use a couple times a year and I lucked out that the fit and price was right.

My son loves the Puma EvoSpeeds. He went through 2 or 3 pairs between school and club ball this year.  He's already begging me to get him the new ones that are out.  He tried some of his teammate's more expensive Nike and Adidas cleats, but the Evos were his favorite.

  7. Had seasons the 2nd, 3rd, 4th years of their existence.  Those games were hella fun.  Saw a game from a suite about 5, maybe 6 years ago.  The game and arena experience has changed.  Or maybe I have.  Probably alot of both.  Didn't enjoy it.  Not even a little.

I always wondered if the experience changed at all once the Bandits left the Aud.  I've only seen them there, and feel the smaller venue suits the game and atmosphere.  After having left Buffalo, I did see the Bandits in Toronto vs. the Rock at Maple Leaf Gardens once (before they turned it into a supermarket or whatever) and that was an awesome experience.  But again, old, intimate venue.

  8. Someday I'm going to own Bandits seasons. Someday.

The last year I lived in Buffalo as a kid was the Bandits first season, and my Dad and I had season tix (we left Buffalo in 92).  We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but that was the most fun we had.  I think we enjoyed the Bandits games (and corresponding Championship) more than the Sabres games we went to.

  9. Always wanted to catch them live, but they rarely made it anywhere near me when on tour (NC or FL).  Oddly enough, I was alerted to this via text as I was sitting in a friend's living room yesterday, consoling his wife, as he just passed early Tuesday AM after a two year battle with terminal brain cancer.  Kind of surreal.

  10. It's a 2015. But I've always found that cubic space numbers alone are a bad measure of actual cargo space usability. The Mazda might have more, but I didn't find it to be better

I have a 2015 Mazda 3 hatch and I'm not sure I'd trade it for anything.  I've never enjoyed owning and driving a car so much.

  11. My 10 year old stepdaughter had an appendectomy on March 7, as hers ruptured.  She was in the hospital for 3 days, then sent home without an antibiotic.  She was fine until this past Saturday, when she started running a 104 fever.  After 5 hours waiting in the ER, she finally got an exam room, and after 3 more hours waiting for a CT scan, they said she had a number of abscesses and needed to transfer her to the children's hospital in Charlotte (we live 30 mins away).  So off we went via ambulance at 4 AM.

Apparently the surgeon didn't get her cleaned up as good as he thought, and she had 3 abscess clusters, the largest the size of an egg.  She had a drain put in, and I've been staying at the hospital with her all week.  Luckily my office is only 5 minutes away, so I go back and forth during the day. One of the clusters has been drained and eliminated, and now they're working on the other one.

  12. You can apparently already get Sahlen's hot dogs in Charlotte.  They have a distribution center over there.  Great news though.

edit:  CV, at least you won't have to make that drive regularly.

Yep, there's a local hot dog joint that only sells Sahlen's, plus they are the "official" dog sold at the Charlotte Knights baseball games.  They can be found in the larger Food Lion stores in the area.

NC is turning into a battleground for grocery stores.  Harris Teeter held a stranglehold on the area as the more upscale choice, but now Wegman's is entering the Raleigh area and Publix has opened stores throughout Charlotte.  It'll be interesting to see if Publix/Wegman's can cut into HT's market share.

  13. We buy the pretty much the same things each time we're at the store.  I have seen the random signs for "buy this and get bonus points", but it's always something stupid like 20 cans of chick peas.  The only impulse buy I'll ever make is a bottle of coke at the register (which admittedly is a stupid move).

Thank you, I think you finally answered my question.  I bought a gift card for my brother while I was there.  The receipt didn't give that as my reason, but it had to be it.  I'm going to have to keep this in mind for all future gift card purchases.  I'll see if they have some signage at the store that mentions the bonus.

Shoot, Bi-Lo here in the Charlotte area had a deal where you got double fuel perks on gift card purchases, right around the time I needed to make a +/- $1,500 purchase at Lowes.  I stopped at Bi-Lo before heading over to Lowes, and ended up with a bunch of free gas.  Totally worth it.
