‘"We’re not a young team but we are continuing to develop this group of players, pushing hard for them to grow together," Regier said. "If you lose players, you have to buy players, but our philosophy is that, when possible, we look to build this team from development. We’re still at the age as a team whether it’s a Thomas Vanek, or a Derek Roy or a Jason Pominville, these players still have upside to their game. They haven’t hit their plateaus yet and we think they’ll continue to get better."’

‘What Moore remembers about his month with the Sabres was the disappointment of missing the playoffs by two points and the pain of playing with a broken wrist — suffered just days after his arrival. Moore didn’t reveal his injury until after the season. “When you’re in a playoff race, you just have to do the best you can regardless of the circumstances,” he said. “There wasn’t much you could do about it anyway, so there was no point in giving it much credence until after the season. “‘
