Sabres set their opening roster

‘Also, the team announced that forward Adam Mair has injured non-roster status since he did not pass his preseason physical. Once Mair passes his physical, he is eligible to be added to the roster.’

Sabres&#8217 6-foot-8 Tyler Myers makes team

‘“I came into camp telling myself that I’m going to compete as hard as I can for a spot on the team,” Myers said.’

Sabres demote Gerbe, Weber, keep Kennedy, Myers

‘Forward Nathan Gerbe and defenseman Mike Weber are gone to Portland while center Tim Kennedy and defenseman Tyler Myers appear set to start the season in Buffalo with the Sabres.’

Sabres assign Gerbe, Weber to Portland

‘These moves leave the Sabres with a 23-man roster heading into Saturday’s season opener vs. Montreal.;

Sabres looking for Paille to bounce back from off year

‘"He’s in that category with Mac (Clarke MacArthur) or Goss (Paul Gaustad) who we can use real good energy from," Ruff said. "He can skate all night and by physical."’

Ruff, Roy agree on strategy

‘“We talked about it in Zurich, we talked about it in Bern, we talked about it in Calgary,” said Ruff, whose team closes the preseason with tilts in Montreal tonight and Toronto on Sunday. “I’ve had a lot of time with Derek, so I think he’s in agreement we’ve got to get back to just a more disciplined game in that sense. It isn’t really a shinny game. (We need) a little less of the one-on-one.”’

Tallinder wants to contribute

‘“(The Sabres) said there were going to be some changes, but I don’t know what they meant by that,” Tallinder said late last week. “Nothing happened, so I’m here. I’m looking forward to the season.”’

It’s a day of decisions for Sabres

‘Lydman has an undetermined hand injury and Stafford has a mild concussion. Coach Lindy Ruff said their status is being evaluated for Saturday’s season opener against the Montreal Canadiens, although Lydman’s injury is believed to be more serious.’

Sabres send McCormick to Portland

‘McCormick agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Buffalo in August. The 26-year-old has compiled nine goals and 30 points over 190 games in parts of five seasons with the Colorado Avalanche.’

McCormick assigned to Portland

‘This leaves the Sabres with 26 players still in training camp.’
