‘The 6-foot-8 Myers continued developing at warp speed, skating 22:08, 30 seconds less than Chris Butler’s team high. Not even two weeks into his NHL career, Myers could be the Sabres’ best defenseman.’

Vanek Injury Not As Bad As First Feared
‘After today’s practice, Ruff said that the injury isn’t as bad as first feared and wouldn’t rule Vanek out of action this weekend. Ruff said the forward is feeling better today after undergoing several tests since the injury first occurred.’
Sabres LW Vanek may return sooner than expected
‘Ruff added that he wasn’t going to rule Vanek out for Buffalo’s two games this weekend.’
Vanek could return in days
‘“They thought he would feel a lot worse today, but he’s actually feeling a lot better,” Ruff said following practice on Wednesday. “He’s doing remarkably well which is good.. I wouldn’t even rule him out maybe for a game on the weekend, as well as he’s doing today. It’s a stretch but it’s something I won’t rule out now.”’
Sabres reach goal standard, beat Wings
‘"I think we outskated them, outbattled them, but they’re a great team," said Sabres center Derek Roy, who tied a career high with three assists. "We came out and took the challenge head-on."’
Sabres cash in on sweat equity
‘One area the Sabres can control, no matter the personnel, is their effort. The Sabres rolled to victory Tuesday night because they outworked the Red Wings at nearly every pass, from the first shift to the last. Their commitment to hustle has been the most promising sign of this young season.’
Injured Vanek could be lost for weeks
‘"It was before the goal, when I collided with [former Sabre Brad] May," Vanek told The Buffalo News. "I went to hit him, and it happened there. I just finished the shift and felt it after. I knew right away and just tried to tough it out. After the shift, I just got it checked out."’
Start Believing
‘”I see a lot of great support all over the ice and that’s been the difference,” Miller said. “With this system, we have the puck on our stick — a solid system like Detroit — we had good puck pressure and that’s what caused a lot of the goals in the second period.”‘
