I imagine only health or a serious family situation could keep RJ from the booth this season. He talked about before the lockout when the Sabres were hard to watch because they couldn't execute and gave up on games before they were over. I remember him saying that he couldn't take much more of this while on the air. I can't see him hanging up the mic now that the Sabres are a power house in there own right, exciting to watch, and have amicable players on the team. During the playoff run this past spring, he did make a vague comment about retiring "sooner rather than later" or something to that effect. So, yes, the big scoreboard clock is definitely ticking down for the legend. Whether it's just "halfway through the third period" or less than a minute to go is anyone's guess.
