So are the Flyers after Gerry Meehan scores with four seconds left in the third period to give the Sabres a 3-2 win and end Philly's season. Philadelphia needed only a tie to clinch the final postseason berth in the Western Division. April 2, 1989 At the Aud, Clint Malarchuk returns to the net for the final minutes of the Sabres' 4-2 win over Quebec. It was almost as if we had made the playoffs for the first time ever when we knocked the Flyers out with seconds left in the season!
