As I said in another thread, I'm ok with that.Ā  Does that suck for the next 20 games, yes, but you may have a lot more/better options in the offseason, with a full training camp to integrate whatever you trade for.

Right now you are bidding against other team who are desperate to keep up in the 2022-2023 season arms race. They are making deals with the bottom teams to retain salary just to make things work.Ā  In the offseason, its possible those teams that are squeezing things in now will be looking to dump players (useful players) at that time, and the costs could be a lot lower and you will have more of a selection. The playoffs are looking like a long(er) shot now, but with Dahlin coming back, 1 or 2 unexpected wins in the next week or so puts them right back into it.Ā Ā

Personally, I understand that some fans just want to get in the playoffs at all cost. Thats not me.Ā  I'm Ok with a longer rebuild....I actually enjoy the roster building, the discussion about it...almost as much as I like the games.Ā  I just think potentially more can be done at a lesser cost in the offseason than you can do right now.

    Ā

How much longer? I'd like to be alive to see one more playoff series

Agreed.Ā  I have watched other teams' broadcasts, and although Ray is pretty bad, it seems to be pretty similar across the board.Ā  Most teams' color guy is an ex-player and often a player that was a "goon" or a "grinder" in their playing days.Ā  Not sure why this is the case, but it's true for at least a few teams.Ā  Not a lot of English majors in the mix, or even guys who have communications degrees.Ā  Just some ex-players.

and they all talk during the play. The way games are broadcast have changed. I watched the Tampa feed during our game last week. 3 guys and most of the game they were just talking . Hardly any play by play and what else happens is a goal is scored while they are talking. I watch most games with volume off now. It's annoying. I miss HNIC from the '70s.Ā

It's why I always watch the opposing teams broadcast...added bonus is that I get shot totals too on screen...novel concept for the Sabres I know...must cost someone a few hundred bucks to code it so they can't afford it.

Unfortunately when I am in the car I am forced to listen to the radio...and have no clue what the score is for long stretches of the time.

That's my complaint. Do these guys know they are also on radio? RJ was the best for radio.Ā

Pegula made the choice to tear it down and put people around him that didn't know how to build a hockey team combined with Pegulas impatience creating a revolving door of those same people. That's why we have endured this pain. And I'm not going to make excuses for Pegula, but he was a huge fan, you know he sees this and feels as we do, but he doesn't have the luxury of emotional outbursts. Although, after 4 yrs or so, he should have.

I'm a huge fan too, doesn't mean I know how to run a sports team

He is good, really good, I don't think its a bad deal for them at all, But to me it just makes the Tage deal look that much better.

PastrnakĀ  26 years old, Tage 25

This year:Ā  Pastrnak 42 goals and 80 points. Tage 41 goals and 80 points.

    The last 2 seasons:Ā  Pastrnak 82 goals, 157 points, Tage 79 goals, 148 points.

Does Pastrnak bring more to the team than Tage...intangibles? Defensive end play?Ā  Maybe, I'm not sure, but possibly. But is that worth $4.1M / 57% more?Ā  To me that is a big no.

Good points and while I agree and also think Tage will continue to produce these numbers, Pastrnak has done it longer and sometimes you pay for players past as well as future. Plus he produces in the playoffs.Ā

I'm not disagreeing with you saying they see it as nothing but growth. What I am thinking is that is the problem. They see nothing but growth compared to where they are.Ā  What they should be doing is talking a half step back today in order to take 3 steps forward tomorrow by making their games available and affordable.

The NFL is different, but they make sure that EVERY game in the home market is available no matter what.Ā  They do the opposite of the NHL where the NHL makes sure that if you want to see your local team you are going to pay one way or the other (buy a tick, or pay for a cable package, or pay for a package like this.).Ā  Fans of the NFL, they may never pay for a cable package or never go to a game, but many of those same people talk about the game, buy t-shirts, buy merchandiser, and many of them become fans when they are younger because they were exposed to the game and then later in life they spend MORE and go to more games.Ā  The NHL is so backwards just to make that $buck today.

Bettman and the old school owners are dinosaurs.Ā  Their league exists and grows (MARGINALLY) because of the product and despite their managment of it. Bettman is condescending and will do ANYTHING to avoid admitting a mistake. The NHL and Bettman/the owners basically run the league in large part like it is 40 years ago and present it and themselves in a very unappealing way to fans or people who WANT to like what they are doing. They do not present their product the way their fans want to consume it, they instead present it the way they want to present it and then try to convince the fans that is the best way.Ā Ā

With DirecTV losing the Sunday Ticket, this announcement might mean our time as DTV customers migh t be ending soon. Ā Provided we can figure out how to get streaming to come in at the same quality as the picture we currently get via DTV. Ā (On our setup, the picture via streaming is significantly poorer quality than satellite.)

I dropped directv and now have youtube tv and disney bundle. I'm not in Buffalo so I watch games on ESPN+. Picture quality is great. I have comcast so my internet is excellent.Ā

The Bruins aren't in cap hell. They're all in this season and only have $11M in cap space next year after the Pasta deal. Lots of bottom 6 holes to file, yes. But if they get Krejci and Bergeron for a combined $3.5M next season like they are this year, then they can still ice a perfectly good roster with a bunch of small contracts because the top 3 lines will be set. There's no reason they can't retain one of Orlov or Bertuzzi next season if Bergeron/Krejci retire or play for next-to-nothing again.

Now -- once Krejci and Bergeron hang them up -- that's when we'll see what really happens there.

every year someone here predicts the Bruins demise....

Understandable. We all want the Sabres in the playoffs this year. But, I really think thatā€™s up to the players. They just dropped a winnable game in Columbus. And the next 2 games look rough.Ā
    Ā

Itā€™s not just KA that is taking this route, but it appears Detroit is also. They appear to be right in the playoff mix and Steve Y is a seller to get more draft picks. I donā€™t think anyone is doubting him. Iā€™m addition, thereā€™s an obvious arms race going on right now in the East. At this point, I donā€™t any of the top teams have any draft picks left for the next 2 years. We canā€™t compete with that. Let the Rangers, Tampa, Boston, Toronto and Devils destroy each other. The problem is only one will win the Cup. They will all be imploding in the next 3-4 years.Ā

First, 3-4 years is a few chances to win the Cup. Also, many say every year that these teams are going to start falling off but they never do. Bruins just signed Pastrnak when someĀ  said they couldn't afford to. The top teams usually stay on top while we never get there. And yes, those teams could destroy each other but it will be during the playoffs

Meh. If 30 other teams weren't willing to beat that offer clearly wasn't thought of all that highly around the league. I think the fact that he gets injured every year plays a significant part in that return.

30 other teams obviously weren't all interested in him. Were 30 other teams interested in every player that was traded recently?

I really think being in the race in March / April was the goal all along and theyā€™ve been successfulĀ

making the playoffs would be a bonus to adams but not worth changing course of his ā€œplanā€

I still hate the fact they didnā€™t land Chychrun and my blood boils whenever I see #78 on the ice BUT Iā€™ll put that all aside for this season, as I still have lots of faith in AdamsĀ

making a few trades to improve the team isn't changing course. If his plan is to rely only on developing his draft picks, that won't win a Cup

This will probably be Anderson's last year so I'd trade him to a top contender to give him a chance to win a cup. I'd probably trade UPL as well to clear the way for Levi. Not overly impressed with Comrie either. Ultimately, I'd like to see a duo of Levi and Vejmelka.

which top contenders would trade for Anderson?
