Sabres didn't "rebuild from nothing" though. When they came into the league we already had all of the core players (and then we added Tuch by trading Eichel).

If you look at their inaugural roster   https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2021/07/21/nhl-expansion-draft-seattle-kraken-reveal-inaugural-roster/

Would you have traded everybody we had for that roster? I don't think you would, so the idea that it was easier for them than us is one I totally disagree with.

Anyway, leave it there so we don't annoy the on topic crowd. Game 7 will be fun. I hope the Kraken win, but I don't think they will. Shutting down Dallas' one big line will be key. Grubauer has to be outstanding as well. Game 7's though, anything can happen.

anything can happen in the other games too, not just game 7

  2. I'm going to start out that I'm a grumpy old man....when did hockey broadcasts become unwatchable? It's all talking and no play by play. 3 people just chatting during the action. Playoff hockey is great, crowds going nuts and these idiots are just talking during . Then a goal is scored and they stop and say...and it's in. Come on. They need to watch old HNIC of Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin. Also, listen to RJ once in a while.  ESPN puts too much on the screen. Pics of 5 players and the amount of ice time. Highlighting the player with the puck on the PP. Unnecessary. Ok, I'm done.

It would be a consensus, as it is now. I really don’t think KA is making any unilateral roster decisions as a TM or JB did. Look, this isn’t about day to day responsibilities. It’s about how to keep our FO intact if another team comes knocking to poach. Giving a person a promotion, via new title and increased pay, is reason enough to want to stay in Buffalo. People usually like what they do. They leave jobs when their boss is unbearable or they don’t feel appreciated.

maybe he doesn't make unilateral decisions but he is ultimately responsible. It's possible one of these guys wants to be in charge of their own team.

While disappointing, the end result surely wasn’t unexpected.  That was a playoff tested team that refused to go down.  Hopefully the boys are learning from it.

I want to echo PerraultForever.  The team needs to learn to initiate the physicality and force the other team into adjusting to it.

I couldn’t watch the whole game.  From what I did see, Tuch stood out to me.  Expectedly.  His playoff environment experience was on display.  We could have used a little more of that.

Good point. We still get pushed around too much. A couple of improvements and this team should be in the playoffs for a long time

Most naysayers don't want to acknowledge the youth factor. These are the 9 youngest teams in the NHL:

Columbus, Arizona, and the Habs are on the ground floor of their rebuilds. Ottawa and Vancouver have been trying to avoid a rebuild for years and failing. Detroit has been rebuilding for half a decade. I don't know wtf Philly is doing, but they're a long way from good. The Devils have been rebuilding for a few years and it came together this year. Besides NJ, the Sabres are the only team on that list that had a realistic chance at the playoffs come April. And they didn't even start properly rebuilding until 2021 after they realized "shortcuts" like Taylor Hall were fool's gold. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they make a similar leap to NJ next year with finally competent goaltending.

Are you kidding? Every post starts with how young this team is.

at this point if Levi becomes nothing more than an average NHL goalie... I'll take it. Thats how bad our goaltending has been.

But we used to take pride in having good goaltending. It was part of our identity & we just got away from it... I hope Levi brings that respectability back.

Some fear would be nice too! It'd be nice to have a goalie other teams feared playing against.

    that would considered a failure
