  1. Meh. They are learning and on a college budget. Give em a little credit instead of getting all "my pernis is bigger than yours" on him.

Settle down, I was there too. Couldn't handle a bourbon without dousing it in carbonated sugar. Years go by and the next thing you know, you're exchanging $150 bottles for Christmas. It brings a tear to my eye, they're growing up so fast.

I was taking a jab at the 'snob' comment. All in fun.

  2. I don't like most of the list that prompted your post, but we are discussing whisky from the South and not that dirt-filtered stuff from across the water.

Hey if you need more sugar and ice in your whisky, by all means. It takes a real man to handle the smoke, iodine and peat of the Scots. ;)

  3. For college students, my roomate and I are quite the snobs ourselves. We started drinking Wild Turkey American Honey in coke, then moved on to others, to the point where we drink it on the rocks now. We have at least one empty bottle of the following:

    Wild Turkey American Honey

    Wild Turkey Original

    Wild Turkey 101

    Wild Turkey Rye

    Jim Beam

    Jim Beam Red Stag

    Jim Beam Green Label

    Jack Daniels

    Bulleitt

    Old Grand-Dad 100

    Bakers

    Old Crow

    Buffalo Trace

The Buffalo Trace 125 corn whiskey is also delicious on the rocks.

You aren't snobs. You're rookies. Call me when you can drink a Laphroaig Quarter Cask or an Ardbeg Supernova neat at room temperature.

  4. I thought that they would bring Sekera up instead of Funk. I know that both were injured and that's why they brought up Card. But on the Amerk's site, Card's back on the roster and Funk is gone.

If the Sabres win in resounding fashion tonight, you could see the death of the "M's" for the Sens (Mlakar, Muckler, Murray). Word is that they only bought themselves time with the win over us earlier in the week. Not helping that they lost last night. Would be fun to shake up yet another hated rival.

  5. I'll take the lucky win, but they looked very very sloppy tonight: sloppy passing, failing to convert on two long 5 on 3 power plays and giving up a shorthanded up 5 on 3.

I hope they look better tomorrow against Montreal. Back to back is hard enough without looking pretty bad in the first of the two.

LUCKY WIN?!?!?! No idea what you're talking about. This was no lucky win. This is the defending SC Champs we just beat for our 7th win in a row. It wasn't lucky, nor were the 5 games we have won against solid teams (please exclude Philly).

The shorthanded goal at the end was a fluke goal in combination with Miller giving up a horrible rebound. They scored two of their goals on plain luck. Tallinder deflected one in with his body (which Erik Cole showed good sportsmanship by patting him for the goal). THE REFS WERE HORRIBLE, as well. Aside from Lydman giving up 2 very bad passes, one of them exited our zone only to be brought in offsides and lead to an eventual goal (no call). And excuse me if I'm wrong, but even if Roy dived, he was tripped. Where's the offset? More often than not you see the offsetting penalty on the unsportsmanlike conduct. You can't convince me he wasn't tripped.

Was at the game tonight, and what I saw was spectacular. This team is so quick with passing and with the defense joining the rush. Of course we took some time to warm up, but so is the case with other wins this year. The bottom line is we were fun to watch, the arena was downright electric, and we are now the best team in the NHL.

For once I would like to read the game thread and know WE WON. Half the time we dissect the game to the point where the win is second fiddle.

  6. Also, during the scrum, Sabretooth pounded on the glass so hard that he broke it and fell halfway onto the ice.

Did you see Biron when ST did that? He turned around like..."what the f#^K did you do?" ST just mosied off. Never seen anything like that before. I wonder what kind of trouble he's in. Lay off the Premobolin Tooth.

  7. I was wondering about that, too. Maybe they couldn't see who scored. And I was surprised this was Drury's first HT. Not that they are a dime a dozen, but he is a good scorer. Wonder if he is going to have a career year?

Drury was obstructed from view, so you didn't know that he scored until after play resumed.

  8. Don't try and say Buffalo isn't a city of diehards.... just isn't true

I was at the Bills game last week and more than 10% left early. A LOT left early. And I wasn't at the game last night, but a lot of empty seats were shown when Max scored. Even RJ mention that some people were doing U-turns after heading for the exits.

    I didn't say we weren't, just reconsidering :D

Seriously though, I don't think it changes our status as a diehard town. We've put up with too much in this city not to be. But it does irk me when people leave. Call it a pet peeve if you will.

  9. Game thoughts...

-Where the heck did a good chunk of the fans go? A 2 goal deficit with 5 minutes left in the game and you are running for the exits?

You know, I always considered this town to be sports diehards. But between the Bills game this past weekend (we're up by 5 with 3minutes left, and people are filing out) and last nights game, I really have to reconsider. I mean you IT AIN'T OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER. You pay all that money for ticks and you leave before the game is over? Bunch of freaking panzies.

  10. Peters: Showed that he doesn't deserve to be on this team. Gooning it up cost us that first goal, then he was just pretty much farting around the ice the rest of the night.

I disagree. Not about the gooning, but about the rest of the game. I thought that He/22/Goose played tough, really muscled it into the zone tonight. Brought the body, but for the sake of getting some offense going in their zone. Kind of surprising. Yeah, it was ugly at times, but they generated chances, which is all you can as of your 4th line.

That was easily the loudest regular season game that I can remember. It sounded like a Guatamalan insane asylum in there.

NOTHING is louder than those crazy Guatamalans.

  11. We take game 8, it's poetic. Especially on their banner night. Couple of thoughts regarding the game:

-The back numbers on our aways look dark green. Is it my TV?

-Novotny looked good tonight, pleasantly surprised.

-The announcers, as always, SUCK. Oh Rick and Jim, why do you have to be 11 seconds faster than the speed of light?! The one announcer during OT: "They will probably only rotate the first two lines....Oh it looks as if they are using the 3rd and 4th as well!!" Well no SH%T. They just played 60 minutes of hockey, and NOW IT'S 4 on 4!!! They think it's NHL99 for Playstation.

-GREAT CAMERA ANGLES IN THE SHOOTOUT. I didn't even see the live angle on Briere's goal, or Staal's attempt. New name, same crap of a TV station. I remember cringing last year when we got the national games. Looks like more of the same.

-Done ranting, great W!!!!!!!! Bring on Les Habitants!!!
