  1. What a great win last night against a very tough opponent on the road and was so happy to be wrong with my prediction.

I like Hutton, but this Sabres team just seems to play different with Linus is between the pipes. I agree Linus has some improvements that he can make and are reasonable to attain. I don't think Housley needs to overload Linus at this point but 60-40 for games played favoring Linus would be a good start.

That is the kind of win that could turn a season around.

Gilbert is a good man as far as my dealings with him have went. Can’t speak for anything beyond that. His son is a prospect in the Blackhawks system.

I agree. Had the pleasure of working with Mike when I interned with the NJ Devils way back in 1996 before he went to Buffalo, had great talks in his office with him, gave me good sound advice that I still apply today. Great guy I wish Mike nothing but the best.

EDIT: Whoops just read the reason why. Hope it isn't true but if it is, only did it to himself.

  3. Superstars produce as needed. Jack right now is doing that. Is Jack perfect? No player is he is far from it. Does he get  a little sloppy at times and make mistakes? Sure. If Jack produces goals, assists, 2nd assists, whatever it is, leadership on a consistent level, that is what we drafted him to be.

Also, he will be measured on the franchise and its success. As long as this continues, Jack is doing just fine,

In years past they would lose this game.... start slow at home, go down 3-1 or 4-1 then rally late with 10 min left only to come up 1 or 2 short.

This game will tell us if they've actually turned a corner this year or if the last two games were simply fools gold.

In part I agree. But also, I look at a hockey season generally in 10 game chunks, last chunk 12 games, so 8 total. Let's say the Sabres lose. 5-5 isn't too shabby given where this franchise has been. I am looking more for the compete level, how they play is big too. For example, the Sabres played so well at Anaheim, even if we lost, I would still feel enthusiastic about the game.

Seriously. If I had a say, I wouldn't employ either of them. Not an ounce of professionalism between them.

    I agree,

There was a time when I dreamed of being a sportswriter: Went to college for it, pursued it and it is a very tough profession to crack. Having said that, when you see Harrington and Graham and how they act, they and so many others appear to be so bitter about so many topics.

No longer do I dream to be a part of a profession that employs so many angry, negative and rage filled people. I will pass.

I will never, ever read a single word Mike Harrington writes. Dude is a complete and utter tool.

  6. It might seem crazy to think that the Sabres can make a massive leap forward and even get into the playoffs.

Ask New Jersey fans this time last summer if making the playoffs seemed crazy, and consider Cory Schneider wasn't good at all: I would say the answer would have been yes.

Colorado made that massive leap out of nowhere years ago, ask them that summer before the season 'can you make the playoffs' they would have said 'Are you nuts'

    We all know about Vegas...

Toronto was on a good path, but they elevated to the playoffs a lot faster then most thought.

Those teams have Hall, Matthews, and MacKinnon. We have Eichel. None of those teams had elite goaltending, with the exception of Vegas, but Vegas is probably the weakest of these examples.  Defense? Toronto has an average D at best, NJ is average too and Colorado did not have anything special to note.

I see NO reason why Buffalo can't surprise and do the same. The odds are low, but it really can happen.

The salary cap era has created these opportunities to make leaps much faster then anyone could have hoped for.
