  1. This is more of a frustration than a complaint, but here it goes... So, next week, I referee my first ever ice hockey game. It is my first year of officiating with USA Hockey, so I am really friggin nervous. The rules and such aren't such a big problem, it's the skating. I pretty much have exclusively played organized roller hockey for about 10 years, with very limited Ice Hockey (It's not really big around here, as far as adult leagues and pickup games go.) I can skate pretty well, but I am still learning the stopping thing. I'm fairly positive that most of the Mites that I ref next week will be better at stopping than I am.
  2. Thanks, but just found some tickets this weekend. Appreciate the response!
  3. Looking for 2 tickets to the 12/11/10 game vs. Pittsburgh. Don't want to pay more than face value, would preferably want to sit lower level.
  4. About 3 months ago, I had tentatively scheduled a Buffalo Sports Weekend for this weekend. Had it planned out, was going with my sister, going to stay with some relatives, catch up with old friends, and see the Sabres and Bills... ...until the Wife reminded me shortly thereafter that I was in my friend's "wedding" on Sunday. Luckily, I hadn't bought tickets yet. I have been bitter about this "wedding" for a while, because they are already married. They got married on 10/10/09, and then planned a complete wedding ceremony for 10/10/10. Spent almost 10k on it. I mean, I am in no place to tell anyone what to do with their money, but it seems like a colossal waste when you have already been married for a year.
  5. Yep, noticed that before the draft, which is why I waited so long to get a goalie.
  6. I feel the same as I did after last year's draft...cautiously optimistic. My goaltending will be a lot worse than last year though.
  7. I can do it any time. Man, I hauled ass to get home, figuring I probably only missed 1 pick...sucks that Yahoo messed it up.
  8. It works for me, if that works for everyone else.
  9. Eesh. I will miss the first hour or so of the draft...unless we can move it to 10!
  10. Waking up, thinking it was Friday, only to have the Complaint Thursdays thread bring me right back to reality.
  11. Attention people of the Greater Raleigh, NC area: You officially have 17 minutes to hide your wives, girlfriends, and daughters...######, might want to hide your Grandmothers too...The Sabres take over RBC....NEXT!

  12. My co-worker and I frequently eat cereal at work if we miss breakfast at home, so we started alternating buying milk. For 3 days, he has said that he would bring milk in, since it is his turn. For 3 days, I haven't eaten breakfast at home for this very reason. For 3 days, I have now starved until lunch...
  13. I am taking the family to Florida next week for our first vacation as a family. Going to see her grandparents for a couple of days in Port Saint Lucie, catch a Mets spring training game, and then head up to Orlando to hit the Magic Kingdom for a day. The wife and I did the "Give a day, get a day" program from Disney, so we have a free day at the park with our 2 year old son. It's supposed to rain in Orlando every day next week. :censored: :wallbash:
  14. agreed. Good thing is, the wife just sent me a message and said it arrived at the house today, via the regular mail.
  15. I ordered a shirt from the MLB shop. It get sent out promptly via UPS basic. On the 16th, it shows "Out for delivery" to my house. It still hasn't arrived. I call UPS, they tell me that there is no way to find out where the package actually is, and that I have to call MLB Shop for them to open a claim. I call MLB shop, they won't open a claim for 14 days. Come to find out from them, UPS basic is actually a service in which UPS delivers my package to the post office, who then has to deliver it to me, which is why UPS is basically no help. I don't get it. I work for a trucking company, and deal with drivers day in, day out. We have GPS and tracking on every truck. Yet UPS claims there is absolutely no way to get in touch with the local facility or the route driver to find out where the package is. :censored: :wallbash:
  16. Nothing to complain about today. It's my son's first birthday.
  17. It has nothing to do with knowing what makes you tick, it is about listening and doing your job. I'm a dispatcher and I never miss home times unless freight conditions completely prevent you from getting home. And then I talk to you about it before you miss time off.
  18. My wife had this happen to her. She took a job thinking that she would be talking and being a friend to the elderly at an old people's home. It was explained that you would be someone to keep them company in the evenings, and paid pretty decent to do so (for a part time job, anyway). Well, turned out the REAL job description was giving baths and changing depends....ALL NIGHT... She was out of there before her first shift was over.
  19. I don't get upset about arguing teaching jobs with people on the basis that their job is any less hard than anyone elses...anyone arguing that point would just be ridiculous. Teaching is certainly a tough job, probably one of the toughest. I have however had NUMEROUS teachers complain to me about how they can't take vacation during the school year, and they can't just take off whenever they want. This I have absolutely no use for. you get 2 and a half friggin months off a year, during prime vacation season. If you can't get your fill of relaxation then, you probably need to be kicked in the nads.
  20. I really hate stupid truck drivers. For example, let's go on about one of my conversations today... I send a driver a message on his qualcomm in his truck saying: Hey, I have a hauling permit for you. Please send me back a fax number so I can send it to you. Instead of sending a message, he calls. This is the beginning of the big waste of time. It becomes apparent that he has not received my qualcomm yet, and is just calling in to see if I have his permit. I, of course, reply: Yes, where would you like me to send it? To which he replies: I'll send you a number in a little bit on the qualcomm. I'm about 40 minutes away from a truck stop. And as we are ending the waste of time conversation, I hear his qualcomm beep in the background that my original message has arrived. WTF??!? If you didn't have a fax number in the first place, why the hell did you call? Call me back when you have one! The best part of it all is, after we finished this conversation that made me upset, and he got my qualcomm, he felt compelled to send a message back saying: "Ill send you a number in a little bit" even though we had literally just hung up the phone discussing this very thing.
  21. Teams are now figuring out how to beat us. They know that the only way to play with the speed on this team is to stay on top of us and give us no ice to work with. It has forced us to play more defensive...and then when we do play aggressive, it's almost like we do so blind, and leave ourselves open to the 2 and 3 on 1's.
  22. My Dad just called me and said that they had someone in the booth talking with them, that used to be a Sabre, and said something about the Sabres getting a new logo for next year, and that it would be unveiled at the all star break? Did anyone else catch this? Was he just saying it in jest, or was he being real? That would be kind of crappy...all these people went out and bought the new stuff and now they are changing it?
  23. YES! This is great...I bet a soda with the aforementioned Flyer fan, so I think tomorrow I will show up wearing my Blue and Gold throwback and drink the entire soda in front of him... Maybe make him take a picture holding the empty soda bottle.
