  1. I have enjoyed that thread, for the most part, but do not miss it.  I am actually in support of it being closed.  I believe it has run it's course.

That said, I would support a 'current events' type thread, so long as we can control ourselves.

First I'll say it doesn't matter to me if the politics thread stays closed or is allowed to come back, but if it does come back the bolded will never happen. It will always be contentious, be it now, next month or a year from now.

Like you stated upthread SDS's previous explanation is good enough for me.  He regrets ever allowing it on the Bills board and now any political discourse over there is relegated to a dark corner sub forum where the same 10-15 actors go round and round every day, but by and large the discussion stays buried there. I had proposed doing the same thing here previously, but now I don't believe it would work.  This community is much smaller and creating a sub forum for politics would almost certainly have acrimony spilling over into threads on the main board.

  2. Not as crazy as I would have thought....obviously a long shot but I would say Baltimore losing to Cinci in week 17 is the hardest part......I can easily seeing Houston losing twice

Of course this leaves out the obvious need for the Bills to win out.  In the very unlikely event that all of that is needed in this graphic does indeed come to pass, is there any doubt that the Bills will then proceed to lose to the Jets?

  3. So Rush released a 40th anniversary edition of 2112, and included in the package are covers by Dave Grohl (2112 overture), Alice In Chains (Tears) , Steven Wilson (Twilight Zone)...and this guy who I never heard of before Jacob Moon (Something For Nothing).  Some googling revealed that he also did a cover of Subdivisions a few years back that went semi-viral. It's an interesting take...

  4. Buffalo expressways, and the way I refer to them, always cracks me. It's "the 90" and "the 290." It always will be no matter how long it's been since I drove them. But never once have I caught myself saying "the 71" or "the 670" down here in Columbus. Nor do I ever say "the 490" when I'm visiting home in Rochester. I'm guessing it's a product of what we hear on the radio.

I had a neighbor who was from Buffalo here in Raleigh and she would call the interstates "the 40" and "the 95".

  5. I got a room at the Marriott with the lake view for $191. It was definitely more than I wanted to spend but can't beat the convenience. Now the next question is, where is the best place to drink after the game? 716?

No, just grab an Uber....oh wait.  Yeah 716.

  6. The Bills aren't as far removed from a playoff berth this year as I bet most people think

Two games left and 99% chance of not going to the playoffs again seems pretty far removed to me.  Still they can deal a blow to the fish this week... so we've got that going for us which is nice.  The Jets game will certainly be must not watch TV.

  7. It's way too early to consider moving Reinhart unless the return causes you to say Holy ######. He looked great last year and is going through a sophomore slump this season, I would give him some more time to figure things out

Agreed. Heard the NHL network guys talking about how Ekblad has regressed this year so far. We must exercise patience.

  8. In my experience the key is, render the fat out of the skin by starting them off away from direct heat, then move them over direct heat to crisp them up.

Not Buffalo style chicken wings, but a plenty worthy alternative.

This is my method to grilling wings, but I'm considering an experiment.

Grill/smoke wings indirectly with cherry or apple wood for 20 minutes or so.

Remove wings from grill and put cast iron dutch oven over direct heat with vegetable oil and heat oil to 350-375.

Fry pre-smoked wings as normal until done,

Toss in Franks based wing sauce

A more traditional Buffalo wing with a hint of smoke perhaps?  I might try this weekend.
