  1. The Preds - Jets game this evening was absurdly good. The Preds fell behind 5-3 midway through the 3rd period then scored three straight to go up 6-5 with a minute left in the 3rd.  Five assists for Roman Josi in the game. It takes an entire season for most of our defensemen to rack up five assists!

Also, Preds GM David Poile tied the record for most regular-season wins by a GM at 1,319 games.

  2. For over a decade we've been trying to spin every transaction as a positive move for the Sabres. And, we've been neck-and-neck with Arizona for the worst NHL franchise over that time. I'm not going to spin the Kane trade as a good deal because other GMs clearly got far more for lesser rentals. That the GM who made the lousy deal said better deals weren't out there is exactly what he would be expected to say. Maybe he isn't good at working the phones and promoting this tradeable assets? Not a single other guy got traded from this awful roster... and history tells me that I shouldn't give a Sabres GM the benefit of the doubt until they've earned it. And, our new GM thus far hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt.

  3. Having spent well over a decade on this and several other online sports forums, my general rule of thumb is: if what someone posts gets me angry to the point of blocking people, turning into an Internet tough guy, losing sleep at night, etc. then I simply walk away from the keyboard, turn off the computer and leave the forum. Simple. If it isn't fun and entertaining and positive, then just leave.

I also agree with the above sentiment that, with the team being lousy for the better part of a decade, we simply run out of things to talk about other than "it's the GM", "it's the owner", "it's the players", "it's the culture", "it's the system", "it's drafting".... I get bored with that stuff, so I just don't post very often these days.
