  1. Good luck ever wrestling that thing from the team in Alaska. :P
  2. Stewart is a top 6 guy talent wise but is like Stafford in that he's not always motivated. When he's on, he's a VERY good power forward who throws crushing checks and gets into the dirty areas. He's also a guy who will drop the gloves and equate himself well when his team needs a lift. I think Ted Nolan will have more success with him than Hitchcock did, though the Sabres might try to flip him. The Blues had to trade players on the roster - I think they had less than a million in cap space. Getting another first is a big deal, though St Louis is a very good team so the pick will be late.
  3. Kunitz was going to throw a check. Smyth uses the old trick of getting the elbow up to slow down the checker. Kunitz gets hit in the head and his physical reaction is to right his body to stay on balance because his torso was forced in the opposite direction from his path of travel. Kunitz didn't "throw" an elbow, anymore than Campbell did when he hit Umberger.
  4. Note to Colin Campbell: Shanahan is proving why most real hockey fans think/thought you were an incompetent douche bag. The job isn't that hard and being open and honest with the fans is actually the easiest road to take.
  5. And Patrick Kaleta smiles at the thought of someone who can actually play hockey coming to his aid...
  6. You mean like when Spacek got called for a high stick because the Leaf grabbed his stick and proceeded to whack himself in the face with it? Or how about 20 seconds before the 5-on-3 when Steen clearly interfered with Drury, ripping his stick out of his hands in the process. Or Vanek getting viciously cross-checked while scoring? I see the game both ways, every night except when we play Toronto and it's CLEARLY not officiated fairly.
  7. Another well officiated game for Toronto. There's just nothing better than getting homered in your own house.
  8. Does anyone know what the Gross Misconducts to Robitaille and Gagne after the OT goal were for?
  9. I'd love to know how they missed the cross check.
  10. I'd say the reason we're seeing "this" Vanek guy is because we didn't see him last spring. I'm quite sure that's the very first time in his life he'd ever been seriously disciplined where hockey is concerned - and he's responded.
  11. McKee is a good guy and as tough as they come. I don't blame him for chasing the money in his only chance to get a big payday - he certainly wasn't going to get it here.
  12. I'm officially concerned about our inability to win faceoffs. That call on Kalinen is crap, as was the one on Roy. Garbage.
  13. Cool by me. Anyone who loves hockey and is intelligent is always welcome - regardless of who they root for (even Leafs' and Flyer fans - not that I've seen any evidence of intelligence with either).
  14. Trust me, worse things than this were uttered on the ice tonight. I guarantee it. I have nothing against the current version of the Red Wings, since now they actually have to play by the same rules everyone else does. When they were spending 300% more a year than we were, it was another story. Had Yzerman been in the shootout, it would have gone Assclown, Assclown, the Captain, Assclown. Nothing to do with sportsmanship. I couldn't remember who shot first and didn't want to call him an assclown and leave his teammates out.
  15. Briere - Score Max - Miss Vanek - Miss Kotalik- Score Assclown - Miss Assclown - Score Assclown - Miss Assclown - Miss Sabres win.
  16. I agree. The stripes have been off all night.
  17. Miller and Special Teams. Mostly Miller. It's not the alcohol.
  18. Sabres are also a third period team. Ask Montreal.
  19. Why isn't anyone in the chat room? I watched the second and third of that game. Wings were like 0-for-9 or something on the PP. Luongo was pretty damn good that night. Wings moved the puck pretty well during the time I was watching.
  20. Not much. Detroit is talented enough that they don't need the officiating inequity. If you're going to call the ticky-tack stuff, call it both ways. Lidstrom got his stick on Pom's hands on the partial break. That's a penalty. Pom was clearly interfered with at about 30 seconds left in the first, with a chance to create a chance. That's a penalty. The call on Spacek was crap. The no-call on Draper, followed by TWO penalties against us on the same sequence is crap. Frankly, I'm getting a bit sick of it.
  21. The officiating in this game is a joke. Draper elbowed Max in the head, hence...
