Not sure about Robinson.   He's doing really well in Carolina on a line  with Necas and has 5 goals and 8 assists

Well, in fairness, Necas is also having a crazy good season and I don’t think that’s due to being on a line with Robinson. Robinson was fine in Buffalo. He was slowed down because he was always paired with Girgs and Okposo. Our current depth is an improvement on those two at a minimum.

It's expected goal %... Not expected goals. If they're playing against opposing 4th lines they have just as good an opportunity to be high as anyone. If they're out there shutting down the opposition 1st lines, then what you're saying is right, and they'll be low. That's why I asked about the matchups they're getting.

Krebs, Lafferty, NAK and Malenstyn have by far the fewest offensive zone starts on the team and it’s not even close. They’re split between defensive zone and changing on the fly. There is a clear top 6 and bottom 6 differentiation.

Weird other thing I noticed: among forwards, Malenstyn is second only to Tuch in 5v5 shots blocked, but at shots blocked per 60 he’s at 6.16 to Tuch’s 4.35. Third on the team per 60? Kulich at 2.89. The only other Sabre above 2 is Greenway at 2.11.

Yet, when someone started a thread before the season with predictions, the most common name for the worst offseason acquisition was Tucker.

I don’t follow hockey as much as most of you seem to, but those that picked him missed the boat.

Looking at the history of Sabres “veteran presence” acquisitions that were overpaid to get them, can you blame those posters? This certainly appeared a repeat of that.

Learn how to fillet boys... quicker... easier and no bones... with Pike either cut out Y bone or cook and pick them out if you dont want to waste the meat... easy enough.

See, this is what I should have done; however, 16 year old overly confident first time solo ice fisher me decided he knew better.

Nobody wanted the Pike and you're supposed to throw anything over a 24 inch catfish back.

I kept a pike once from ice fishing as a kid and I pretty much ruined it trying to clean it. This was the days before YouTube and I was trying to figure it out myself on the fly. Not my proudest moment. That being said, it tasted alright cooked up as a fish taco, but I'll admit it wasn't the best-tasting fish for that and I decided it wasn't worth it to try and keep any others after that.

Why are you supposed to throw the bigger cats back? Is that just the fishery rule to encourage a healthy population? I've never been particularly fond of catfish which is unfortunate as we have them in absolute abundance here in Texas. At the lake five minutes from my house, I believe the daily limit is 25 channel cats with no minimum length (although there is a cap on the number of fish over 20 or 24 inches you can possess, but I don't remember the specifics). Flathead cats have a minimum length, but I don't even know what it is since, again, not a huge fan of catfish. I just go for the striped bass and crappie.

  6. The youth-only deer season opens Saturday. Our nine year old is going out for his first season. We got him a youth-sized single shot 300BLK and I put a suppressor and Leupold scope on it. He’s been out target shooting with it a bunch and it’s pretty darn accurate. He should be good inside 150 yards which is perfect since there are no shots past about 120 yards where we are hunting. He can harvest up to two deer: a doe and buck or two does.  So hopefully next Sunday I’m posting a nice success story.

Side note: he really wanted to try hunting with a muzzleloader because that’s how I like to hunt. Part of the reason we got him the single shot rifle that we did is there is an identical inline muzzleloader from the same company, so maybe next year he can try that. We’ll see if he enjoys this season or not.

Only if they were going to skate one of the D up at F (or run 11-7) unless both Benson and Peterka are good to go come Thursday.

Levi gets a paper transaction to Rochester and you recall a forward. If you need him, let Reimer sit as the backup. If not, you don’t have to do anything except send him down and reactivate Levi (if you want Levi on the bench).

The posters complaining about this are most likely the first ones first to complain when Remier gets lit up that Levi isn't in net

I’m only complaining because it’s poor roster management by Adams when he had flexibility. I’d prefer Levi in the NHL than Reimer many times over, but I’d rather have both in the Org instead of losing one for nothing.

    So Benson is either:

    A) Hurt

    B) Sitting because Lindy thinks he performed the worst of any forward yesterday

    C) Sitting because Lindy wants to give Krebs an opportunity to play an international team and he’s lowest on the totem pole

    whats most concerning?

    D) Lindy believes the issue is in the top six, wants to let Kulich have a chance in his home country to see if he has a spark (plus he’s rested), and Benson is the low man on the totem pole in the aforementioned top six. Lindy doesn’t want to bump Benson down to the bottom six. Ergo, Benson sits and Krebs slots in (Krebs also being fresh).

I don’t agree with it. I’d sit one of Thompson or Cozens, start the rookie, and let that be the kick in the dupa the top six deserves. But Lindy also has to manage personalities and I guess he believes mixing up the top six sends a message regardless.
