  1. It's so bad. Watched the Oilers-Canucks game last night and the ads were alternately glitching/flashing or swallowing players/officials up like a bad PlayStation game.
  2. With the goat head being officially named as the new 3rd jersey, Shop One Buffalo has some new goat head gear available... https://shoponebuffalo.com/collections/sabres-third Didn't go crazy (subjective) because I'm waiting for the jersey. Probably want to act quickly because it seems to be going fast.
  3. This deal will look like a bargain in a couple of years.
  4. The proverbial switch flipped and I suspect he continues to trend toward elite. I think a lot of the ups/downs he's dealt with have been confidence related, but he looked like he finally was starting to feel comfortable in his own skin out there. Big year coming.
  5. 21 goals, 33 assists, 54 pts in 2022-23.
  6. Meh. 1) Nobody knows how effective he's going to be with all of the injuries and his numbers have been falling off of a cliff. 2) Assuming he stays healthy, I'd rather see the 16-18 minutes a game go to somebody that's a part of the future. 3) Unknown effects to the chemistry/culture KA/Granato are trying to build. 4) I believe we were on his no-trade list, so the point is probably moot.
  7. Oh, hell yeah. I'll definitely be getting a Seals jersey.
  8. Oof. That reminds me of this... https://youtu.be/XyNh1j3dsp8
  9. I was saying back in February buyer needs to beware on Kadri. He's a good player, but he had an outlier career year in his contract season on an absolutely STACKED team. He's probably looking to get paid like a ppg player when his career says he's probably a 45-55 point guy...and he'll be 32 at the start of the season.
  10. Wonder what the holdup is with Kadri? Avs trying to clear cap space to re-sign him?
  11. Much bigger deal than unexpected it to be. I figured given the situation, CGY would have to settle for some prospects/picks and maybe a middle six forward in return. Never would have thought a player the calibre of Huberdeau would be involved, even if he basically a rental.
  12. I thought so, too. Then I realized Huberdeau is a FA after next season, making him essentially a one year rental. Unless they can convince him to re-sign. I guess he at least gives them one more shot at playoff run?
  13. That's a much better return than I expected them to get given the way Tkachuk cut their legs out from under them. Tkachuk is a couple years younger, but I don't see him as being an upgrade over Huberdeau. Plus CGY gets a solid blue-liner, a prospect and a 1st. I'm assuming Weegar was thrown in to cut some salary and the 1st likely ends up a late pick, but I don't see how this deal makes FLA much better. I'd be thrilled with that deal if I'm a Flames fan. *EDIT - Well, Huberdeau is a FA after next season, so he's essentially a rental. I guess he gives them a shot at one more run this season.
  14. Dumpy arena, ***** weather and taxes?
  15. Rough couple of months for Flames fans. Get their teeth kicked in in the Battle of Alberta, watch Gaudreau sign with CBJ, of all places, and now this.
  16. 1) Sabres continue improving (41-32-9, 91 pts), but fall just short of the playoffs. 2) Comrie emerges as a legitimate starter (~.914 / ~2.68 GAA) 3) Cozens has a breakout season (23G/36A/59 PTS)
  17. Honestly, probably #1, but certainly no lower than #3.
  18. I NEED to hear the behind the scenes details on the Gaudreau deal. Left A TON of money on the table in CGY supposedly to play closer to home in NY/NJ/PHI, then on FA Day 1, CBJ...a franchise that has NEVER attracted bigtime FAs...or even kept their own...swoop in and get him on a pretty damn sweetheart deal.
  19. Holy smokes! Gaudreau to the CBJ... Blue Jackets to Islanders/Devils:
  20. This is a low-key fantastic signing. Physical guy, RHD, Russian and snuffs out opponents offenses. No downside to this one.
  21. I readily admit to being a KA fanboi because I love the way he has developed a plan for building sustainable success after years of execs making terrible decisions on contracts and trying to take shortcuts, but I'm not above criticizing decisions he makes, either. I'm an old school hockey fan, so I yearn for more size/toughness on the team, but KA has a differing opinion and that's fine. He's very likely smarter and knows a ***** load more about hockey and where it's going than I could every dream. That said, I LOVE adding depth down the middle. Any of those guys could end up on the wing, as well. Savoie was a homerun, IMO. The guy I've wanted since we found out where we were picking. Danny Briere clone. Thought Leinonen was a reach, but he was the highest rated G in the draft and they probably didn't think he'd be there at 74. Likely hedging his bets in case one of Portillo or Levi flake (ftr, I don't think either of them will). Like the Neuchev and Komarov picks. Lindgren's mom is a smoke show, so onboard there in the hopes we get to see more of her. Overall, sold 'A' from me.
  22. Yep, signed a 2 year deal. Cam Talbot is NOT happy.
  23. Yeah, position versatility is a thing here now. Honestly, I thought Mitts was carving out a nice role for himself over the season's last month. I thought he was our best checking forward over that time.
