At the beginning of the season the coach and GM explicitly said that playoffs was the expectation this season.
Yes they did, and I thought they would make it as well - it was a bit disappointing, but again - people need to look at the big picture. And my point stands, there were no expectations of a playoff run the previous three years.

He's been here over 3 years and never made the playoffs. The entire team regressed this year after he decided to change his system. This fanbase is so downtrodden that they accept his losing trash coaching. Granato should be fired and Adams close behind. They've failed.
If he does it shows how this org is weak, slow to change, and overall pathetic.
They weren't expected to make the playoffs these three years, they were doing a total rebuild. Some of you need to step back and rethink your comments. Unless of course you thought we would be in the playoffs the last three years while we were revamping the lineup and developing the youngest team in the league. Right.

Habs just went up 4-1 on the Wings and the home fans are not happy. Lots of booing.
Wings respond 4-2

Disciplined rebuild? We just saw a regression in team play despite finally getting , and wasting, quality NHL goaltending.
Next several years? This year they are going to finish at least 4 slots out of the final playoff spot.
You seem to be tied into Adams plan. What year do they make the playoffs?
What year do they catapult to the Cup and show us all the big picture?
What is obvious about the team’s direction that even the National media hasn’t picked up on yet?
To my eyes they have to upgrade the coaching staff, and they are still several players away.
To answer your questions - they make the playoffs next year.
Legitimately challenge for the Cup within 3-4 years. In the playoffs for the foreseeable future.
What is obvious about the youngest team in the league's direction is that the hardest part is done, accumulating talent. The rest is natural growth and experience, and some tweaking of the roster.
That's what my eyes see. Your opinion may be different.

The disciplined rebuild in retrospect will be seen as a long-term success. Missing the playoffs this year is just not seeing the big picture that will unfold over the next several years. It seems pretty obvious to me that that is where this team is going.

Wanna talk about a team not showing up with it's season on the line? The Caps.
I think we'll finish ahead of the Caps in the standings for the next 7-8 years. Just my opinion.

Quinn has 8 goals in 25 games 9 months removed from an Achilles tear.
Close to a 30 goal pace without having played many games in his career - impressive.
I'll add, we're a little unlucky with his injuries. I think we would have made it had he been healthy - then how would everyone feel about our team?

Philadelphia may have lost 9-3 tonight but Eric Johnson with 2 assists!
Serious veteran leadership. He's benefitting from a coach holding his players accountable.

What's incredibly silly is 13 seasons of the worst hockey management in professional sports. A complete and utter joke that seems to get compounded with each approaching season. The fan base has an absolute right to be very very upset and demand better. The Pegula ownership era has been completely forgettable and a disgrace. I for one wouldn't mind seeing him give up ownership of the hockey club to someone who actually cares about it. No more platitudes from this owner and lip service.
What's more silly is thinking that the previous 13 seasons have anything to do with this group of young players.

You're on a message board with several different personalities, you can either ignore the hate, join the hate or don't come on a message board (I'm not trying to tell you not to come on btw) there are no other options brother.
The other option you ignored is calling out the silliness, which is what he did. He's not the only one who feels this way.

Sorry simpleton take.
Levi take Comrie's starts and we have a healthy Quinn and Thompson and that erases all of those things. Not a cup contender obviously, but playoffs would be locked at this point.
Wow. "Simpleton" eh? That tells me enough about you. Classless, and not as knowledgeable you think you are - great combo. Welcome to the blocked list.

Making the playoffs or not this year, this stretch of essentially desperate playoff-type games, facing elimination if you lose, is good for this young team. Valuable experience for next year when we're actually in the playoffs.

Our best hope is to beat Detroit and Washington in regulation
Have both Florida and Tampa resting starters
And find a way to get at minimum a point out of Dallas.
Bottom line is we have to win out, and get help. But not as much help as yesterday.

Wow, if these scores hold, we're legit still alive.
Washington loses. Go Rangers, 2 min. to go
Rangers hold on to win. Perfect night for our slim playoff hopes.

We're still alive as of April 5th. And the finish line is getting closer. What are we up to, a 10% chance?
Adams & Granato to return?
