If any Amerks "earn spots" this offseason,  Kevyn Adams failed miserably.

Serious question - have you ever, I mean ever said anything remotely positive on this forum? Even once? It's tedious having to scroll through your always predictable, always negative posts.

Maybe both told Kevyn "Thanks, but no thanks"? I am also open minded to Lindy. Emotion we will get and I don't think that's a bad thing. I agree, the rest of the staff is a huge key!! Let's see what New Jersey does next season under Green before you write him off. Hopefully Lindy does much better than Travis but I believe a full season under Green and Jake Allen in goal will get the Devils on the right path once again.

The Canucks weren't very good under Green. Look at 'em now...

A mini opening to express my view that a new coach should always come in with his own trainers, equipment people, medical staff etc. I am not convinced a part of the toxic, losing atmosphere with the Sabres doesn't reside in all those people who are in the ears of the players. I'd toss broadcasters, team media people, alumni in that mix.

    Make a clean sweep, Berube.

I can't imagine an NHL coach would have any interest in, or have any influence on selecting broadcasters, media, trainers, equipment people, or medical staff. That sounds completely like fantasy land. Particularly medical staff. Coaches dedicate their time towards coaching duties. Exactly what expertise does a potential coach have in picking medical staff, other than none?

It’s a good time for a new coach. Believe it or not, we can still create a great team out of what we have with a couple new (tough) additions.

Skinner MUST go. Adams would need to go too for us to get beyond a 1st round playoff loss level. The man is simply over promoted 4 levels above his competency. Time for Pegula to wake up.

I agree Skinner must go, but we may have to hold on to him one more year before buying him out. I simply disagree with your over-the-top comments about Adams, I firmly believe we're on the path, and he will get us in the playoffs next year, and for several years thereafter. "4 levels above his competency" is just silly and disrespectful.

At the beginning of the season the coach and GM explicitly said that playoffs was the expectation this season.

Yes they did, and I thought they would make it as well - it was a bit disappointing, but again - people need to look at the big picture. And my point stands, there were no expectations of a playoff run the previous three years.

He's been here over 3 years and never made the playoffs. The entire team regressed this year after he decided to change his system. This fanbase is so downtrodden that they accept his losing trash coaching. Granato should be fired and Adams close behind. They've failed.

If he does it shows how this org is weak, slow to change, and overall pathetic.

They weren't expected to make the playoffs these three years, they were doing a total rebuild. Some of you need to step back and rethink your comments. Unless of course you thought we would be in the playoffs the last three years while we were revamping the lineup and developing the youngest team in the league. Right.

Disciplined rebuild?   We just saw a regression in team play despite finally getting , and wasting, quality NHL goaltending.

Next several years?   This year they are going to finish at least 4 slots out of the final playoff spot.

You seem to be tied into Adams plan.   What year do they make the playoffs?

What year do they catapult to the Cup and show us all the big picture?

What is obvious about the team’s direction that even the National media hasn’t picked up on yet?

To my eyes they have to upgrade the coaching staff,  and they are still several players away.

To answer your questions - they make the playoffs next year.

Legitimately challenge for the Cup within 3-4 years. In the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

What is obvious about the youngest team in the league's direction is that the hardest part is done, accumulating talent. The rest is natural growth and experience, and some tweaking of the roster.

That's what my eyes see. Your opinion may be different.

Quinn has 8 goals in 25 games 9 months removed from an Achilles tear.

Close to a 30 goal pace without having played many games in his career - impressive.

I'll add, we're a little unlucky with his injuries. I think we would have made it had he been healthy - then how would everyone feel about our team?
