  1. So your assertion is that Richards knew Kaleta was there, waited for the contact and dove head/neck into the boards? If so Richards is a fool to expose himself to potential serious injury. Not buying that argument, if it's yours, as it would be laughable.
  2. Regardless of the outcome, it was a dangerous hit that Kaleta could have easily avoided. He had a choice and he simply made the wrong one. Suspension warranted. I like Kaleta and the role he plays on the team, but he's wrong in this case and deserves to be "reminded" that he cannot make that hit.
  3. You haven't read the boarding rule obviously. The location on the ice where the hit occurred is what made it dangerous. I love how you can get inside Richards' head and figure what he was thinking. Laughable!!! Kaleta's audio from today: http://sabres.nhl.com/club/podcastplayer.htm?pid=16&iid=41713
  4. ‏@kevinoDandC So for all of you who think Patrick Kaleta's "nudge" on Brad Richards was nothing, a spinal specialist says you couldn't be more wrong.
  5. Amen. I cannot forgive or forget the image of him coasting on that play....total give up. I hate to use this word, but he QUIT on that play. 100% counterintuitive to any kind of leadership and I don't give a damn how many goals he scores.
  6. @KatieStrangESPN #NYR No Brad Richards on the ice today. Not surprising. Seemed to still be in a considerable amount of pain after game last night @BuffNewsVogl Patrick Kaleta declines specifics on boarding with hearing pending. Asked if he had message for Brad Richards, long pause:"I'm good for now" ‏@BuffNewsVogl Sabres Patrick Kaleta says he feels like "a bag of garbage" for putting team in short-handed situation that led to two Rangers goals.
  7. Power Play...we have a Power Play?
  8. I know one thing, a Captain of an NHL team can never show this completely inexcusable lack of effort on any play: If I'm RR, I'm having a long chat with #29 about setting the proper example for the team. Totally unacceptable for my "leader"
  9. Speaking of from behind dirty hits, Leafs send Mike Brown to the Oil for a 4th round pick. Could be a 3rd if Edmonton makes the playoffs.
  10. Rule 41 -- Boarding The boarding rule was amended in several ways in order to put the focus on the violent -- and possibly dangerous -- contact with the boards rather than the actual point of contact. This season, a boarding penalty will be assessed to a player who checks or pushes a defenseless player in a manner that causes the player to have a potentially violent and/or dangerous impact with the boards. The word "pushes" was added to the rule and "defenseless" replaced the word "vulnerable." The onus now is going to be on the player applying the check to ensure his opponent is not in a defenseless position. If he is, the player applying the hit must avoid or, at the very least, minimize the contact. "What we did is we took the onus off the violence of the hit itself and added the word 'push' in there," Shanahan said. "It really has more to do with the violence in the collision with the boards. We don't necessarily think it has to be a violent hit to cause a violent crash, so we broadened the rule by putting in the word 'push.'" http://video.nhl.com...nsole?id=123679
  11. Cam Ward is out 6-8 weeks with an MCL injury he sustained in the game last night against the Panthers.
  12. Completely ridiculous statement.
  13. A hit from behind up against the boards and a hit from behind a 3 to 6 feet from the boards are not equivalent. Away from the boards is far more dangerous. ‏@brianlawton9 I won't be surprised if @BuffaloSabres Patric Kaleta gets 5+ games for his hit on @NYRangers Richards. Exact hit @NHL wants out of game! @TSNBobMcKenzie Kaleta, BTW, official repeat offender in eyes of NHL. Last suspension (head butt) was less than 18 months (Nov/2011) ago. @TSNBobMcKenzie Being repeat offender can influence length of suspension. It's much more costly in lost pay. Loses x games' pay, not x days' pay.
  14. We'll never agree on this one...Happens. @TSNBobMcKenzie Goes w/o saying, but will say it anyway: BUF's Patrik Kaleta to have disciplinary hearing with NHL for hit from behind on NYR Brad Richards. @TSNBobMcKenzie Unclear whether it's in-person (allows for 6 or more games) or phone (5 or less). Guessing it's the latter but that's only a guess.
  15. I'm not going to argue that he didn't act it up after the hit to get the Major and Gamer call. Irrespective of that Kaleta was reckless.
  16. No one's going to intentionally fall like that against the boards and risk a potentially debilitating injury. Question: Do the Sabres get a callup while #36 is suspended?
  17. Torts and the Ranger room is pissed: @BuffNewsVogl Rangers call Kaleta's hit on Richards 'disgusting' and 'stupidity;' Sabres forward fails to appear after game http://bit.ly/WDHD5P
  18. Our interpretation on this one is just not the same. All good.
  19. Wanted him to wear an A at the outset of the season.
  20. The board would have exploded calling for a long suspension of course. Blue and Gold Glasses color some people's perspective.
  21. Richards could have easily broken his neck.
  22. Maybe I am...Sorry if so. Hate to even be talking about the incident after such a strong performance by the boys tonight.
  23. I don't know what you guys are looking at, but take off the Blue and Gold glasses...it was a dumb, dirty, and dangerous hit. No place in the game for that type of play.
