As a professional recruiter/HR, there is no good or bad time to give the notice. I would give it As soon as possible as to avoid burning any bridges with the company you are about to leave. It is always a good thing when you can glo back to an older job you have with a better life!!

Although i am a huge Mitts fan, i think Buffalo traded a player they needed for one that they did not. We already have enough playmaking non hitting defenseman. Will he be good for the team? Most likely yes. This team will miss Mitts and what he brought. It is now a glaring need this off season. On the other hand i am also a huge Avs fan so i will just root for Mitts there! He is having a decent playoff so far and i am happy that he got away from the perpetual tire fire that seems to be the Sabres.

Unfortunately, they paid all those guys to play in Buffalo. Thankfully, whomever realized they aren’t NHL players and sent them down. This might be the weirdest take I’ve seen on this site and @PASabreFan posts here on the reg.
If that is the weirdest, you do not pay much attention to this board! LOL And no, most NHL teams do not pay 1 and 2 million for AHL Players. Could just be me and i am ok with that. To me it showed that management thought they were SABRES and then realized they were AHLers AFTER they signed them. Not to smart to me.
-
That was the point. Why are we paying players that much to play in rochester. Also Comrie was there when we had the 3 headed monster until someone grew the balls to send Levi down. They are all ONE WAY Contracts..... i know, not my money, but seems like a waste to me.
-
There are a couple of players that were in Rochester making more than what normal AHLers make. Stillman, Jost, i know there are more than them....
-
My thoughts on what they need to do.
Buh Bye to : Jost, Olofsson, Comrie, Clague, Bryson
Trade Joki & Krebs and whatever or package him for a sturdy physical 3rd line center or RHD that is defensive and physical.
Add some Benson but bigger (2 players please)
Package whomever for a top 6 winger with some size and physicality
I know Skinner is not going to be going anywhere. He is worthless on the bottom 6 so needs to be playing with talent.
Time to use some of this teams capital (Prospects and picks) to make this team harder to play against. No more undersized players that stick check. No more stick checking dmen. We have plenty of those. This team needs to really add what it is missing and this is the year it must be done.
And stop paying players big money to play in Rochester!!! That is total incompetence!!!

The more time passes, i am slowly becoming more ok with Ruff. We all know his coaching style and unfortunately it is what this young team needs. We also know that he likes a harder nose style of hockey and that should help as well. Not 100% thrilled as i think Adams was lying through his teeth on double digit candidates. It is what it is. We have a bunch of great pieces that unfortunately cannot motivate themselves. Ruff will definitely get them motivated quickly. Buh bye Skinner!! LOL

I am kinda surprised at how fast this went down. But I believe ka had already talked to potential coaches before the season ended. So apparently he didn't want any playoff coaches that might come available. So the decision on ruff was pretty much made by the time dg was fired IMHO
Goes down real quick when you do not interview anyone and have a quick handshake with a fired coach that happens to live in your town.

I like Ruff too but this was not and is not "well done"
They didn't even do any search.

He was maybe the third or fourth best option available.
He was their only option when they fired donny. No search... at All.

Now that Ruff is hired you're denying fans wanted him? Nice.
My question now is what happens to Seth Appert. Will her be brought up to assist Lindy, or do we lose him to another team?
I would be totally OK with him being an assistant

Can we please have the end of season owner and gm office cleanout interviews please. I hate them both with a passion after the Ruff hiring.

Ughhhhhh i am NOT a fan of this. This is a shortsighted crap lazy decision. This organization is a joke and i am glad there are 31 other teams to watch. FU Adams you idiot.

Sullivan seems like a bit more of a “players coach” kind of guy. That worked for the Pens because they had leadership in the player group with strong internal accountability, so Sullivan didn’t need to be a hardass.
I think the Sabres need a coach who will be a hardass.
All a moot point as he is not going anywhere.

Lots of ex-Sabres to root for!!! A ton with points already!

Do not think the Marlies have anything to play for....

Forgot St. Louis is looking for a coach too.
Buffalo, Ottawa, NJ, St Louis currently looking for a head coach.
I think we have better talent than all 3 of those teams overall. Not to mention a ton better prospect pool.

I am actually surprised we have not heard any rumors on any names. As of now i think we are the only open spot....

Love that we have at least one team that is doing well! LOL GO AMERKS!!! Lets get 1st place!!

I personally think the Arizona fiasco is a black eye for the NHL. Bettman was trying to force a franchise on an area that clearly does not want one. Just because they are one of the biggest markets does not mean that a NHL franchise needs or they want one in their area. The Sabres are bad but Arizona was a tire fire.

Ok.... a couple of things about some of the things that were said:
- It makes me mad when professional PAID players says they need to be motivated and or pushed. Enough said about that, it should be self explanatory.
- Totally agree with a heavier structure that starts day one. You can tell this team definitely did NOT have that.
- I think Tuch should be wearing the C over Dahlin. Dahlin get the A. Just listening to them both, Tuch is more mature.
Ok, that was more than a couple, but just my thoughts.....

Good call. He's not available today, but he could be very soon.
Let me get this straight: Lindy Ruff was a hands-off figurehead leader content to run his assistant's system?
Not the Lindy I remember.
Thats is what the talking heads in market are saying... Truth? Who knows...

Why does everyone point to Brunette as the main reason for the rise and fall of the Devils?
Didn’t exchanging 3 veteran defencemen (Hamilton, Graves, Severson) for 3 rookies (Hughes, Nemec Bahl) in their starting 6 play a huge role?
I mean, those are talented kids but we know 1st-hand about having too many young D. The vets were +66, the kids -31.
Because here in the NJ market, it has been said that the winning system was Brunette's system. As you see, he took it to the Preds and it is working wonders.
Ryan Johnson, how a coaching staff screwed up by wasting a good a player

Johnson was touted as a great first pass defensive smart defenseman. He is EXACTLY that. Even at the NHL level he knows how to handle himself and the game around him where he is mostly in the right place all the time. He is not a goal scorer and we do not need him to be that. A transactional defenseman who can make a great first pass out of the zone and play good defense.
