I got debt coming out of my eyeballs. Once I get past that, I can reassess where I’m at.  I also think I can reduce the stress of my old job.  I have a different perspective and a lot more resources than I was used to.

I have been there and done that!!! I wish you the best in your new/old job!! Hope it provides the QOL that you deserve!!

Eh I know the ***** storm I’m walking into.  They say they’ve made changes but a culture that’s been entrenched for 35+ years dies hard.  It’s going to be more stress, a lot more responsibility and longer hours but I had to make the move for my family.  I haven’t slept in weeks.  Hoping once I start smoking again, I can get back to sleeping.

Hitting a wall every day at 2pm where I can barely keep my eyes open despite drinking coffee and energy drinks all day, has been taxing.  Great news, I’m at my lowest weight since college.  Bad news, I’m living like a 1950’s housewife slamming uppers, wired out of my gourd.

Sometimes less money and less stress is a lot better then more and more. What good does the extra money do if you are hating life and stressed to the core and cannot enjoy it. I have been a recruiter/Manager since 2002. I have had crap jobs where i had to take a second job and i have made great money where i am miserable always wondering if i was going to still be there the next year. It is hard to find that job that you love that pays great and i have been lucky to find that happy medium a couple of times, which includes my 21 years in the Navy. I hope you find that going back to your old job and the stress is not too bad. The recruiter part of me totally understands the actual needs of every person that i interview. I always tell my candidates that money is not worth it if you cannot enjoy the life to spend it.

  3. Johnson was touted as a great first pass defensive smart defenseman. He is EXACTLY that. Even at the NHL level he knows how to handle himself and the game around him where he is mostly in the right place all the time. He is not a goal scorer and we do not need him to be that. A transactional defenseman who can make a great first pass out of the zone and play good defense.

  4. As a professional recruiter/HR, there is no good or bad time to give the notice. I would give it As soon as possible as to avoid burning any bridges with the company you are about to leave. It is always a good thing when you can glo back to an older job you have with a better life!!

  5. Although i am a huge Mitts fan, i think Buffalo traded a player they needed for one that they did not. We already have enough playmaking non hitting defenseman. Will he be good for the team? Most likely yes. This team will miss Mitts and what he brought. It is now a glaring need this off season. On the other hand i am also a huge Avs fan so i will just root for Mitts there! He is having a decent playoff so far and i am happy that he got away from the perpetual tire fire that seems to be the Sabres.

Unfortunately, they paid all those guys to play in Buffalo.  Thankfully, whomever realized they aren’t NHL players and sent them down.  This might be the weirdest take I’ve seen on this site and @PASabreFan posts here on the reg.

If that is the weirdest, you do not pay much attention to this board! LOL And no, most NHL teams do not pay 1 and 2 million for AHL Players. Could just be me and i am ok with that. To me it showed that management thought they were SABRES and then realized they were AHLers AFTER they signed them. Not to smart to me.

  7. That was the point. Why are we paying players that much to play in rochester. Also Comrie was there when we had the 3 headed monster until someone grew the balls to send Levi down. They are all ONE WAY Contracts..... i know, not my money, but seems like a waste to me.

  8. My thoughts on what they need to do.

Buh Bye to : Jost, Olofsson, Comrie, Clague, Bryson

Trade Joki & Krebs and whatever or package him for a sturdy physical 3rd line center or RHD that is defensive and physical.

Add some Benson but bigger (2 players please)

Package whomever for a top 6 winger with some size and physicality

I know Skinner is not going to be going anywhere. He is worthless on the bottom 6 so needs to be playing with talent.

Time to use some of this teams capital (Prospects and picks) to make this team harder to play against. No more undersized players that stick check. No more stick checking dmen. We have plenty of those. This team needs to really add what it is missing and this is the year it must be done.

And stop paying players big money to play in Rochester!!! That is total incompetence!!!

  9. The more time passes, i am slowly becoming more ok with Ruff. We all know his coaching style and unfortunately it is what this young team needs. We also know that he likes a harder nose style of hockey and that should help as well. Not 100% thrilled as i think Adams was lying through his teeth on double digit candidates. It is what it is. We have a bunch of great pieces that unfortunately cannot motivate themselves. Ruff will definitely get them motivated quickly. Buh bye Skinner!! LOL

I am kinda surprised at how fast this went down.  But I believe ka had already talked to potential coaches before the season ended. So apparently he didn't want any playoff coaches that might come available. So the decision on ruff was pretty much made by the time dg was fired IMHO

Goes down real quick when you do not interview anyone and have a quick handshake with a fired coach that happens to live in your town.

Sullivan seems like a bit more of a “players coach” kind of guy.  That worked for the Pens because they had leadership in the player group with strong internal accountability, so Sullivan didn’t need to be a hardass.

I think the Sabres need a coach who will be a hardass.

All a moot point as he is not going anywhere.
