Skinner reminds me of Geoff Sanderson in a way. Â Sanderson played an offensive, transition heavy, shoot first game. Â He was at his best with Andrew Cassels, a center who was pass first and also played defense.
Without a center line Cassels, Sanderson wasnât that effective. Â Lots of effort, but wasnât great for flow among the five on the ice. Â
ÂSkinner plays a more edgy game, but heâs similar in that heâs shoot first, doesnât help game flow, and is at his best in transition and offensively. Â
ÂIâd seriously look into acquiring a player like Wennberg.  Heâs got lots of flaws, but if he can be had for a reasonable price, he seems like the pass first, defense conscious center who might get Skinner going.

That's actually a fantastic point.
Translation for EF: he doesnât know whatâs going on but people keep telling him the price is lowering.
Those people have an interest in the price lowering.

The 64 gazillion dollar question is â why did Adams start thinking about moving Jack after last season?
Great question.
I bet no one calls Edmonton about McDavid without the response being â not available.â Â Just no reason to even listen.
Adams was clearly listening on Eichel last summer. Â Iâd think the answer should be the same as it was for McDavid. Â But it wasnât.
Iâd love to know why.

Beniers will be the first pick by the Sabres who value intangibles and analytics

I voted Beniers 1st and then Eklund.

Thereâs a happy medium here. Analytics and visual scouting have to go hand-in-hand. Having worked in a scouting department, thereâs plenty analytics canât determine.
A player can have elite play driving analytics. But if heâs horrible in the room, a distraction, etc, I donât want him. And analytics canât tell you that type of stuff. You need to go see a game, talk to coaches, etc
Conversely, a player can have intangibles which make Toews look like weak sauce. But if they are getting caved every shift, then they donât have a place on the team.
Has to be in balance.- 3

tom webster has insiders and knows exactly why ROR was traded, and it wasn't because ROR traded himself after he didn't get the C, no matter what pure speculation you fling at the wallÂ
What was the reason?

Eichel-watch officially on.

Iâd take Beniers first, regardless of need.  Teams win Cups with players like Beniers.

Hmmm. Â Pure speculation, but trying to connect the dots.
What if the Sabres take Beniers 1st? Â And then trade Eichel to Anaheim and get 3OV back? Â These reports put Seattle in a weird spot - not that it really effects them. Â They could just pick whoever they want. Â But it could effect a trade down.
Reports: the Sabres owner loves Power. Â The Sabres have Eklund as the highest rated forward. Â Say a team like NJ wants Power, they might now want to trade with Seattle to get him, knowing the Eklund report is likely bunk since the Sabres took Beniers.
Then the Sabres walk away with Beniers and Eklund as part of the Eichel/Reinhart replacement plan.
Probably not likely but just some thoughts.

Price didn't have his A game. That therefore, by definition, wasn't the best Moe-ray-all could throw at the Bolts.
?
He got beat once where it was his fault, and that was the misplay on the first goal - and thatâs if he even saw it.
The Coleman goal goes in due to an insane effort. Â Price really did t have a chance on that goal. Â I just re-watched it on the post game.
The Palat goal was the defenseâs fault. Â Price even getting a skate on it was impressive, because he wasnât even in a stance expecting it.

Habs are playing well, but Vasilevskiy is playing unreal.  Tampa isnât playing well.  And itâs 3-1 Bolts.

Pretty insane effort goal

Iâm always skeptical of leaks.
Dreger today.... where would he hear that?  Iâm sure he didnât get it from Dubas or Burke.  Likely suspect is Bob Murray, trying to drive price down.
Why the Power, Michigan player leak by Vogl? Â Then the Eklund tweet by LL? Â Sounds like either deliberate misinformation by the Sabres. Â Or Vogl was accurate and LL was putting out counter information.
Or..... both were from the Sabres. Â Why? Â Maybe they are shaping teams in the top 5, thinking theyâre going to have a second top 5 pick.
Lots of misinformation going on..... lying season.

Is anyone else intrigued that a few short weeks after Kevyn Adams telling the world that no one is going to know until the Sabres step up to the mike who the first pick is going to be, we get not one, but two juicy leaks?
On the same day no less?
That seem to conflict?
From what has been an extraordinarily tight ship?
Reported by Buffalo reporters not known to be insiders?
Could our rookie GM actually be playing the plant a rumour smokescreen game with the competition as he jockeys to reset his roster while holding the high card in a highly volatile draft and talking trade with a number of teams behind him?
Itâs lying season.

I saw that. I knew that looked far too familiar.
As an aside, what if the Sabres drafted Eklund 1st and, say, Beniers 3rd?
If Terry were the tyrant you claim, then the Bills would have Patrick Mahomes instead of Josh Allen.
Iâd be ok with Beniers and Eklund. Â Both are high end talents.

Reinhart is looking at cashing in next summer, or this summer if he's traded. He won't sign for more than a year with Buffalo. So he'll be traded.
- Vogl thinks Reinhart will go to Calgary, Vancouver, or Seattle. Calgary for Monahan might be a good trade for both teams, especially with Reinhart proven as a center.
- Adams will attempt to trade Ristolainen, but he's been on the block for three years with no takers, so it's not a given he goes. NJ is a possibility and has been for a while.
-Adams took so long with the head coaching search because he's a new GM, and wanted to talk to as many potential head coaches as he could to gather ideas and perspectives, as well as foster relationships.
- Expect Adams to add to the scouting staff this summer. He knows he's short.
- Don't expect a senior VP for hockey operations soon (Rutherford idea).
- Sabres scouting staff loves the Michigan kids, which is why they are working toward a 2nd high first round pick (Anaheim?).
- Terry Pegula loves Owen Power
- The Sabres may trade for a goaltender who can't be protected: Vanecek, Jake Allen, Khudobin (I take all the credit for the Vanecek idea. Vogl's article is from June 23rd, and I said that a long time ago. )
- Sabres are building around a new youth core (Dahlin, Cozens, Mittelstadt) and the plan is to build around them and add to them as a core.
- Granato knows his game plan needs to be around a young line-up.
- Don't expect a new captain right awayI wrote that on HF Boards!đ

Yeah, it wasnât my ACGM, I just thought it was an interesting idea for how to trade Eichel/Reinhart. If KA wanted, he could also unload Fiala for more futures.
I wonder if GMKA would trade for Rossi. Â I donât think he sees upside in him.

I donât love it but donât hate it, so itâs probably about right.
For the Minnesota deal, Iâd want Boldy if the Sabres are moving Olofsson.
I like the LA deal.
Not sure why the Sabres would want Drouin but sure.

Eichel to LA for Turcotte, Vilardi, Bjornfot, 2021 1st
Reinhart to Seattle for Kunin, Bellows, 2021 2nd
Ristolainen to NJ for Wood.
-
I'd move both to the Western Conference, if I could. Keep the East clear of them.
Eichel to LA seems to work. Turcotte would fit in perfectly with the type of team that finished out the season. Something like Turcotte, Vilardi, Bjornfot, and a 2021 1st. That's the "4 1sts" Adams reportedly wants for Eichel.
Reinhart to Vancouver, Calgary, or maybe Seattle post-expansion draft. See what Seattle picks up. They won't get anyone as good as Reinhart, for sure, but they might have some nice pieces.
Projecting, something like Bellows, Kunin, and a 2nd.

Jeff Skinner Agrees to waive His NMC for Expansion Draft
in The Aud Club

I donât think that works.
Skinner can drag down other players with his play style. Â Once you pass him the puck, itâs not coming back. Â Or if it does, itâs usually an ill timed to placed pass.
Wennberg has historically been a pass-first player. Â And Skinnerâs not really dragging him down.
