totally agree...find it hard to believe that was the best offer we could get for Sam. We have seen many "rental" players move at the trade deadline for much better then that. Clearly GMKA was in a big rush to move Sam regardless of return  and it shows. Next will be Jack and another package of completely under-whelming pieces...

Think it's probably the best we could get from an RFA Reinhart - at the least put wheels in motion towards the change in culture. He wasn't signing past RFA, why gamble until the deadline ... then what, they're looking at a guaranteed 20+ 1st rounder? Obviously could get more, could get less, but the risk/reward of keeping Samonsite on the roster for a possible deadline trade is questionable at best.

  2. Well, damn... that's a healthy return. This draft is bonkers, so happy with any pick in the top 15.  Thanks, Chuck, hope you just flipped the market for Samson and John (No, I do not care if he prefers "Jack").

Found on Reddit from a Phlyer fan:  "Hagg's kinda like finding a burnt fry in your onion rings. It isn't good, but it's a nice little addition"

Hah, apt metaphor, I'll take it.

Do wonder though what could happen if the Sabres doctors are proven right on their treatment and Eichel returns to full health without surgery. 🤔

Can the relationship be repaired or is it too far gone?

    Really?? Link 👍

Im sure HockeyBuzz will source it from me, expect an E4 tomorrow. /s

I wonder if,.. Eichel has progressed significantly on the injury front and in turn his opinion of the team has changed which will then lead to a change of heart and Jack staying to lead the team towards their long awaited Stanley Cup victory after trading both Reinhart and Risto for contributing pieces?

Samson and Risto for McDavid confirmed

The real question is before Covid hit, was 716 profitable for the Pegula’s?

I was never there besides a game day, and it was typically packed.  Food was mediocre at best.  Drinks were meh, not a great tap list.

Enjoyed the restaurant at Harborcenter much more.. their smoked manhattans were good.

@Shmuffalohow do you like it?  What are your thoughts?

Not a big fan of Makers everyday stuff, but some of their special bottlings have been really nice.  Good to see that one over 100 proof.

Same. I don't like their regular stuff, aside from mixers, but this is pretty damn good.  Like the label says, its heavily vanilla, baking spice, and caramel to really turn it into more of a dessert whiskey... I havent tried with ice or adding a drop of water (usually like it neat, but might experiment), I think $60 or $70, It's worth it.

The Woodford Double Oaked Private Selection Barrel from Premier (as opposed to the regular Double Oaked) on the other hand, I don't know what they chose as far as barreling - no info on the label, but it is the biggest oak bomb that I've tasted.  Usually like oak in a whiskey, but this is like oak with hints of bourbon.

Had some Uigeadail the other night; still may favorite obtainable whisk(e)y... aside from it jumping in price 20 bucks over the last year or so.

As ever, we've gotta put our other-GM flight helmets on...  the Sabres are going to really have to sweeten the offer for us-as-other-GMs to take 7 more years of Skinner at $9M. Maybe an emergency compliance buyout is put in place, or in 2 years the cap skyrockets, but for now, he'll be with us, like The Concept Of... always.

Agreed, I was only responding to the comment Skinner won't be here. We have no salary retention currently, I know there's nil chance we retain 50%, but for the sake of the initial comment, Skinner at 50% retention, is of value... we'd need to receive one hell of a sweetener carrying a 4.5m burden for 7 years.  Realistically, I don't foresee a Skinner trade.
