  1. Kane and Toews are too valuable players to be given away for nothing. For each them, they will ask for 1 draft pick and someone else of value, and both of them are running out of contracts. Very big chance to buy air. But if you choose from these two, Toews is better.

  2. I like how many experts we have here who like to speculate and at the same time absolutely not look at the numbers.

The UPL has only 22 games in the NHL and has never played with a good defense except for maybe a couple of his last games. Comrie at his age had a 86,36 % record in Detroit.

For a goalkeeper to play well, he needs experience and he needs to get used to the team. Thompson has also not scored in every game before, but coaching staff believe in him and by working on himself he achieves success. So I believe in the UPL and his success in the NHL.

And who will play will be decided by the coaching staff.

  3. I think we should keep 3 goalkeepers. There must be healthy competition.

If the UPL is sent to Rochester after his good games, then he may lose motivation to progress, because he is sent to the reserves anyway.

And Comrie hasn't shown anything yet.

Been a fan since 1970.  The first 40 years were really good - No Cups but a lot more winning than losing and many great players.  The past 12 years, basically the Pegula era, have been a disaster.  You can see things looking brighter since Granato took over for Kruger.

Yes. Now there is a glimmer of hope against the backdrop of past years.
Another very important thing is $ wiggle room.

What did you think of UPL last night?

He has had a few strong games, and few klunkers.  Sometimes UPL plays with good technique (last night) and other times he is a sloppy mess.  It is well worth playing him over a guy like Tokarski.  Goalies take a while.

He played well, but it is his instability that does not give the right to seriously count on him. He needs time, he still needs a lot of work to become faster and more efficient.

We all want results at the end. Especially those who have been waiting for more than 10 years.

I've been a Buffalo fan since 2004 and will probably live a couple of years less because of this.

The first 30 mins against the kings they had 6 shots on net.   Lucky they got a 5 on 3 and scored which made the kings open up a bit, which allowed the Sabres to skate

Id love for people who are saying he needs to bring in a new goalie give us an example of who they should target    And how much are you going to give up , knowing Comrie will be back soon enough

I'm not a scout and I'm not on the coaching staff to give examples. Everyone should do what they are paid to do.

It is obvious to everyone that we have problems in defense and on the gate, which do not allow us to count on the playoffs.

If our defense is progressing and showing promise, then there is a problem with goalkeepers. We gave away everyone and did not really take anyone.

If Anderson gets injured, then there is no one to put on at all, and even a blind man can see it.

I think Adams isn’t going to go out and get a big name goalie. I think he hoped that Comrie/UPL would be a good stopgap until the can see if Levi could develop into a NHL level goalie quickly.

Ok) let's wait another 5 years)

I don’t know what to say except that he wants to evaluate talent this year including upl 🤷‍♂️

We have been evaluating talent for 12 years, while others achieve results in a couple of years or in the first year.

I generally like the new management, but the fact that we have not had a good goalkeeper for several years spoils all the achievements. Anderson, at 41, plays better than any of our young goalkeepers.

I’m sure he’s keeping in touch with the other teams but he’s not in a rush to do anything at this point. He knows this team isn’t a playoff team and don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. At the moment they have buy-in  from the players to the owners. He will do some moves in the offseason (nothing crazy because he’s not going to be picking from the cream of the crop). I worry that he’s holding out hope that he’s capture lightning in a bottle for a second time and Levi will develop quickly once he’s done with college.

This team is ready for the playoffs and the only reason we're behind on points is because Adams didn't get a good goaltender.  Even if Tokarski had stayed, it wouldn't have been so bad.  But we don't have that either.

    4 - 3 goal games.

    8 - 4 goal games.

    7 - 5 goal games.

    6 - 6 goal games.

    3 - 7 goal games

    1 - 8 goal game.

and tonight marks the first 9 goal game of the season.

That is a total of 95 goals in 26 games which is 4th best in the NHL and is on pace for 290 total goals through an entire season if this pace keeps up.

Comparably we had 229 last season, and 218 the season before that, a whopping 60 - 70 goals less then what is projected for this season.

As this team ages and grows those muscles which in turns makes them more confident and more able to be physical and hit more, and as they learn to play better defense this team will become a force to be reckoned with. And if this team can find a bona-fide number 1 goal-tender also? There is no possible way this team doesn't make the play-offs for many years to come.

All aboard the Sabres train because this baby is just getting started.

Our attack is one of the best, but I forgot when we ourselves let in less than 3 goals.

I watched the last ten minutes of the third period last night and I was disappointed in the effort.  The team seemed scientific, even clinical, as it was chasing a tying goal.  There was no passion.  Meanwhile, I also watched Montreal search for a tying goal against LA, and the Canadiens were almost frantic.  A similar story played out in Toronto, where the Flames and Leaves were tied late.  That one looked like a Game Seven--both teams were on fire.  What is up with these 2022-23 Sabres and why does it look like they have no passion or desperation?

When Pittsburgh shot at our gates three times in a row and scored the first goal, I was also in shock.

    I can handle the tooth.

There was a cool scene after one of the goals... Quinn Peterka Cozens Dahlin and Samuelsson celebrating together.

It could be the future. Who knows.

    The future is now!

We are number one in the Conference in terms of goals scored and at the same time in first place with Columbus in the number of goals conceded.

We have everything to reach the playoffs. We just need to miss less and play like in the second period in the last match with San Jose.
